I pre-ordered Bayo 1. Now I want to score a copy of Bayo 2, but my cheap self is not ready to pay $50+ for a copy lol.

The search goes on.

I lucked out with a used copy for 40 bucks a few months ago that surprisingly still had the code for Bayo 1 unclaimed.

Yea, what's what I really found weird when I first played it. You do a lot of exploratory stuff in a non-hostile environment, taking on little sidequests before you tackle a dungeon environment. There are even environmental puzzles that are solved with the dungeon items (new legion). I haven't played Nier Automata, so I can't compare the director's previous work. It's the best feeling Zelda-like without leaning too hard on the Zelda

As far as I understand, Platinum pretty much only did the combat for Nier Automata. And honestly, the combat in that is merely serviceable. It doesn't feel like a Platinum title in most ways.

Who else was on Nier Automata? SE straight up lists Platinum as the developer and the lead gameplay designer is Astral Chain's director

I suppose it's a good sign the special edition is sold out?

Can't wait for this game. The recent trailer looks great. I really think the concept of summons in a character action game is such a cool idea. Bayonetta sort of toyed with the idea before, but now they are going all-out with it. October can't come soon enough.

I also want to mention, because I've seen some complaints about the art style -- I love it. The colour scheme, generally, is garish. Infusing teal and red and pink into the game's palette seems like a weird idea on paper, and it's kind of a clashy-balance of tones. But Platinum just says fuck it, leans into that scheme, and gives us a magnificent visual display of garish maximallism -- I just love it, and it's unlike anything I've seen before. I'm almost inclined to think the colour tones lean into a bisexual colour scheme, and I'm all for it.

Most people credit Yoko Taro as basically being the auteur for the game, and that Platinum was mostly just there to execute his vision for the game. I know Yosuke Saito was heavily involved as well. I can't say for sure though, as I'm not the biggest fan of the game and didn't follow it very closely, but that's basically what I've heard from a lot of people online (great source I know haha).

that's not wrong, but if you're familiar with Yoko Taro's directorial previous works, you'd be giving Platinum a lot more credit, lol

Fair enough, I was just relaying what I'd heard. I guess a lot of people like to diminish their involvement in it for some reason.

One worry I have is that the summons being a focus in normal combat kinda takes away the special aspects of the Climaxes at the end of boss fights.

I wonder if those will be handled differently

Watching Bayo 3 trailer again looks much more slower than 1 and 2, i don't know if it's a false statement but looks like it.
Eh we haven't really seen a good amount of combat yet anyway, I think whoever was playing were pressing inputs slower to be deliberate.

Clearly it means they made only 3 editions. Theres no way nintendo expects this to sell over astral chain which sold over one chazillion of copies

You are joking but there has been a recent trend of Nintendo making short prints of almost all the 1-2M sellers to risk as little as possible overshipping and push for digital instead

Curious when NOE will release further information about the physical print of the first game. I want the three of them so badly!

Honestly it is greedy but seeing XCDE and Pikmin 3 prices in Europe I understand why they do it lol
there comes a point where they stand to put some games on deeper discount. Bayonetta 2 and Astral Chain would definitely benefit from a 50% off sale on the eve of Nier Automata and Bayonetta 3

I was thinking more about the short prints than the lack of discounts, that and regional pricing I think is something Nintendo should revalue especially now that it seems Switch will be their main platform ‘forever’. Something like Bayo 2 or Astral Chain should be 50$ right now base price and get down to 25/30$ during sales, this is still far from the sales other publishers do what would help these IP and Nintendo get more sales than otherwise

How to say "We want this game to be stream-friendly" without saying "we want this game to be stream-friendly":

You gotta love how some people immediately tried to pin the existence of the "safe mode" on Nintendo (the same Nintendo that nowadays allows pretty much anything on the eShop as long as it's not AO, I might add); then again, "Nintendo is gonna ruin Bayonetta by censoring everything!" has been an existing argument among some ever since Bayo 2 was announced. At this point I'm sure that Nintendo could fund a Bayonetta porn game with explicit sex scenes and some people on the internet would still be like "Yeah, but imagine how hardcore it could have been if it wasn't for Nintendo".

Imagine a Sony Bayonetta

Best Buy has already stopped taking pre-orders of Bayo 1. That doesn't automatically mean the game will be scarce at launch, but it probably means that the game won't be easy to find after launch either.

Ah, that explains why when I went to see if it was possible to pre-order this morning it was "coming soon" :( I was going to ask if people were doing pre-orders online or in-store.

I would love to.

Their censorship is rather strange. 3rd parties get it rough sometimes and their 1st party is like untouched.

I don’t really get it. I understand some of the censorship. But it comes off as random sometimes

And still no Amazon preorder.

Guess I'm paying scalper prices then.

:/

Finished Bayonetta 2 for the Nth time today in preparation for 3. I skipped all the cutscenes although I remember close to nothing of the plot, which made every fight feel super random. Still a great game, one of the best on Wii U and honestly even Switch!

Bayonetta 2 was one of my top ten games of its decade.
I just loved its whole hearted commitment to being as ridiculously fun as possible; realism, trend-chasing, and AAA norms be damned.
The whole thing is a turbo-charged, nitro-fueled rollercoaster from start to finish that takes everything that was awesome about the first game, kicks them up a notch, and fixes the excellent original's few faults.
It's honestly second only to BOTW in the Wii U's hall of greatness in my opinion.

Managed to pre-order the Trinity Masquerade edition at GameStop here in Ireland a couple of days ago, very excited!

One day we'll wake up and get some more gameplay of the game, maybe even an overview. Probably won't be for at least a month though. August belongs to the squid game.

Of course this happens the day after I pre-ordered via GameStop 😂
I was this close to preordering a few days ago from them but then I read that they require a signature upon delivery and backed out.

I'm being extremely lucky with this. It's already sold out.

Have any of you seen this?

“Bayonetta 3 is an action adventure game in which human characters travel through a series of fantasy environments, battling monsters called Homunculi and an evil being known as Singularity. Players must make their way to an island, Thule, in order to prevent Singularity from destroying the known worlds.”

It’s from an Australian classification page

(If I should’ve put this in a spoiler tab, sorry idk how)
