Rapid Deco: Yup, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got here

Also this reminds me that it's so bizarre that they don't tell us the special points for new weapons in the patch notes

I feel like the devs are pretending that Ink Vac doesn't exist (kidding). After this update, every Ink Vac kit will have an alt kit that is heavily superior than it. Very little reason to play a kit that has Ink Vac.

How's Super Chump now? That feels like the least talked about special compared to the big ones like Stamper's ink consumption increase, Splatana Wiper Deco's 190p, and the Big Bubbler. I really like that special weapon, and the painting increase, minor damage increase, and the ability to aim nearer than before sound like good improvements.

Thank you for reading.

awwww the game is gonna be unplayable for the first few days of the season at least

nice going splat tuber

How's Super Chump now?
Still trash

Ink spread from landing is still too small, balloons still have way too low HP so they pop in about one/two hits, they take forever to explode, and the blast and ink spread from the balloons exploding is too small to even care about popping anyway so you can just ignore them and they won't impact the game at all.

It sounds like it'll benefit the Nzap that it's on quite a lot, since that's a decent kit all around, that it benefits. If nothing else, with some ink sub equipped, being able to throw two autobombs, use the chump, throw another one and start shooting is a recipe for some short term chaos that works for the Nzap that just got a bit stronger.

My opinion on super chump is that the biggest problem it faces is that it doesn't really benefit the clash blaster or dualie squelchers sets that it's been put on very much at all, so I'm not sure it'll see that much more play there. The CDS would have benefited so much more from tentamissles or even ink storm again like it had in 2.

Oh... that's too bad. I personally like Super Chump, but the fact that it's not that good kind of dampens my enjoyment with it. I remembered when in Splatoon 2, Tenta Missiles were the "set killer" and the Kensa Splattershot was considered dead on arrival just for having Tenta Missiles. I remembered the first time I used Tenta Missiles on the regular Slosher, the feeling was great! It was regarded as the worst so it felt like there was the stigma of unviability with Tenta Missiles even though I enjoyed the reward of locking into all four opponents. Funnily it's now considered the most powerful special in Splatoon 3 that competitive players expressed collective dread when it was returning after all. Super Chump seems like it is designed as an exclusive special but it seems like the developers didn't do a good job with it...

I guess it's times like this, one has to wonder if Splatoon 3 is not that great of a sequel, between the weapon viability gap, the maps, and the update cycle...

Thank you for reading.

I don't think it's the worst special in the game, it's still got a solid role (on the N zap) in at least turf war and splat zones where you can make some real difference with it. I don't play the mode much but I can also see it being useful as cover at either basket in clam blitz.

I don't think I've ever really used it for tower control/rainmaker though, because those stages really do benefit other specials much more since the target is both small and mobile.

Super Chump isn't bad per say but it's a super that needs someone on your team who knows what you're doing. Super-Chump is a distraction for a charging team. Basically while those baloons are easy to pop, any second firing at those balloons are seconds of them not firing at you. It's definitely not a "use freely" type special. A real obvious use is in Clam Blitz when your teams is pushing with the big Clam.

The way I see it, it creates a bunch of paint (even just from landing) and dummies that will bodyblock for you. Prime fighting conditions for aggressive weapons, but nobody in solo seems to realize that.

So, the S-Blast can not only jump with the long range shot by shooting and jumping at the same time... but it also has no accuracy loss if you do that (the long range mode is always perfectly accurate even in the air)

Yeah this is gonna be my new main too.

I'm glad Splatoon choses to support Aexuals/Aromantics...though I guess I'll have to get a LOT of money now in order to get that title...

I took a little break from TotK last night to try the update and the new music is soooo refreshing. I can't believe it took 9 months to add new songs. You would think it would be one of the easiest things to add/implement once the recording was done.
Got my 5th catalog too (I honestly haven't played much since May 12th :p)

The update feels low-key underwhelming to me :p

They didn't change/buff Vac 🙃, but I'm OK with the nerfs.

They fixed it! (1, 2)

Technically they nerfed Vac!

To put some of the changes in absolutes:

Splatana Stamper
Horizontal slashes: 25 -> 19 per ink tank (13 -> 10 after 1 burst bomb | 2 -> 1 after 2 burst bombs)
Charged slashes: 11 -> 8 per ink tank (6 -> 4 after 1 burst bomb | 1 -> 0 after 2 burst bombs)

Sloshing Machine
Fire rate: 33 -> 38 frames
Time to kill with at least 1 direct hit: 52-> 57 frames
Time to kill with indirect hits only: 85 -> 95 frames
Max potential painting speed: 29 -> 25 points per second

Octobrush
Swings: 31 -> 33 per ink tank (9 -> 10 after 1 suction bomb)

Snipewriter 5H
Strafe speed: 60 -> 68 (Splattershot is 72)
Amount of Ink Saver (Main) needed for 3rd charge in 1 ink tank: 1 main 1 sub -> 1 sub

Ultra Stamp
Duration: 9 -> 7.5 seconds

Tacticooler
Boost duration: 15 -> 17 seconds
Probably a silly/stupid question: how do you measure frames? Is it like something like 1 animation movement/change per second or something?

The game runs at 60 frames per second, so 6 frames is 1/10th of a second

It's also why they often denote things in the patch notes as "by roughly 5/60 of a second" or similar

The fist bump animations are wild, I'm going to be switching up my victory emotes a bunch to see more of them. So much work went into such a little feature.

Maybe Nintendo was cooking with those Line Marker kits, this sub just made no sense on shooters aka the "amazing frame data" weapon class

Also, if you want to be scared (no Special Charge Up):

Man, it really seems like the new Blaster is great...it's a shame then that the last 10 matches the game refused point blank to put in on a team that didn't consist of 4 of the same blaster against those that can out ranged and outpaint us...repeatedly...for TEN MATCHES

All these posts are making me consider just skipping the season, honestly.

Which is fine because all those shrines aren't gonna find themselves!

I feel bad for the short[er] range weapons this season :p

Barnacle & Dime runs at like 40 fps... what is going on
I only played it on Turf Wars for like 30 minutes, but fortunately I didn't notice any major drops. What mode were you playing? Was there a specific circumstance that triggered the drops? (like the Slammin' Lids on Spawning Grounds)

Just got my first fist bump, woo! Amazing how something so little can be so exciting.

If anyone is wondering what triggers a fist bump; reddit reckons it's when two players on a team get all gold badge things at the end of a match. That's certainly in line with my fist bumps anyway.

Now that I've had time to play some of the season:
-SBlaster is really irritating to play against, hit boxes seem too good
-I enjoy the new Swiper as someone who uses the OG a lot
-New songs are all bops, one of the lobby themes feels like like a classic 3DS type of song
-Barnacle & Dime seems... meh. A letdown after the more interesting Ruins.

wow. nintendo already pushed a patch to fix the squeezer bug. that was faster than i expected.

First summer play session impressions:

I already knew they were gonna make Humpback smaller. I didn't expect them to make it slopier. Not a fan based on a brief scouting run. Also, it's high time the base speed of the Tower gets reduced by like 40% to keep pace with theses scaled down stages.

Sheldon's weapon nerd outs aren't meant for these seasonal mass dumps alt weapon kits. I'm a fan of Sheldon, and nerd-outs and reading. And even I am tempted to skip. One more reason to prefer spacing out content over multiple smaller updates every couple of weeks.

It's through no fault or choice of my own that Point Sensor is the most common sub on my go-to-weapons.

New color lock option is pretty and good.

The events seem like a fun change of pace every now and then. If you can overlook how you have no control over every now and then.
