News The Plucky Squire (All Possible Futures x Devolver Digital) coming to PC and consoles in 2024 (UPDATE: Mine Puzzle gameplay trailer, see threadmarks)

This game looks too good, it wil either be a masterpiece and new indie darling or really bad and a big disappointment.
I actually think it could more end up on the tad mediocre side if there just isn't enough meat to support all the variety shown off

But yeah I do feel like this game looks a tad too good to be true (at least a fully realized version of this concept, that is). But very much hoping I'm wrong there

It has been an indie must-get for me since the original announcement (which, arguably, had more gameplay in it than this one). I have high hopes for this one.

i wouldn't expect it to be bad, but i am fully expecting that a lot of what we're seeing in terms of gameplay variety is going to end up being all we really get out of it, and most of the game ends up being the zelda-esque overworld traversal

This looks brilliant.
I love its quirky sense of style, and if the final game lives up to the diversity and imagination on display here, it could be one of the highlights of Switch's 2023.

Interesting that it's yet another game coming to Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series, but not PS4 and Xbox One. I guess as a small studio they have to focus their resources, and by now the active player base on last gen must be dwindling.

Zelda might not be a bad comparison - there's a scene in the trailer of Jot using a hammer to trigger some sort of bomb explosion

I wonder if this game is a traditional Zelda-like. Link Between Worlds taken to the next level?

Like, everything about this just looks so magnificent but I just struggle to get too excited when it's the first game from a brand new indie team. Just waiting for that other shoe to drop, where it ends up being 2-3 hours long and we've pretty much seen all there is to see in these two trailers, lol. I hope I'm proven wrong though, could be amazing!

That'd be more than fine. They've already shown off a huge array of gameplay variety that puts most other non-Zelda action adventure games to shame.

If there's gonna be any sort of Gotcha with this game? It's gonna be the Switch version. It's gonna run like trash in comparison to the other versions...

I don't see it doing anything that, for example, Mario Odyssey wasn't doing FAR more GPU-strenuously several years ago, so I expect this to be fine.

Eh we've seen time and again there's a pretty big difference between what EPD can get out of the console compared to other teams, especially small indie teams

On another note, damn the character designs in this game are great. As expected from Turner of course but still they're just utterly charming from what we've seen

Ultimately, I expect this game to be short, like 8-10 hours short, and this will probably be for the better.

Quickly over, but packed with clever ideas at every corner.

8 - 10 hours is a pretty good length I think for this sort of game. A bit shorter than your average 2D Zelda but around that mark (2D Zelda-like is the closest genre I can surmise for this game atm)

I'm just hoping it's not even shorter

OK, swap Odyssey for Talos Principle, the point remains the same.

Completely forgot to update this thread. The game was playable at this year's Gamescom and made some great impressions.

It's also delayed to 2024.

Did anyone else have the reaction "thank god" because there's already so much good stuff to play anyway haha

Still, though, still excited for Plucky Squire. Still seems glowing from what we've seen, and I'm warming up to buying this day one.

Awesome! Looking forward to this one.

Holy crap that trailer was amazing

This looks ridiculously good.

The only thing tempering my enthusiasm is that I doubt Switch can run this acceptably. Thankfully Switch 2 is not far away.

Avoiding spoilers at this point since I'm beyond sold but eager to see it release and try it out!

This looks unbelievably cracked, what an amazing concept for a game this is
