PlayStation PlayStation Showcase announced (May 24th, 1 PM PDT / 9 PM BST)

I've seen enough. After Spider-Man 2, Sony is likely done with 1st party games for the PS5. That tells me we're likely getting a PS6 in mid 2024 since they're refusing to announce new 1st party games for PS5 beyond this year.
Brock, please tell me you're not being serious

You know, I feel like what we saw of Spider-man 2 could imply we may get a third playable character. Once Peter inevitably loses the symbiote, what happens to all those fun powers? Maybe they just transfer over to a playable Venom.

I just watched the Phantom Blade 0 trailer. The fact that people actually believe this is an actual video game boggles my mind. This is the most fake trailer I've seen since Wukong.

Or you lose those powers really close to the end game, Fight venom as the final boss, and then they make up some BS that allows you to keep them in the endgame

I kind of have a hard time of understanding the calculus behind a platform holder having so many live service games. Like I understand having a few, especially if they are in different genres. And I understand it if you're a third party developer. You may be only releasing one, two, or possible no games a year so you need recurring revenue. But a platform holder makes money from games sales and microtransaction sales on their digital stores for any game. They get a 30% cut. The market can have so many live service games and your first party games are going to end up competing with each other. At least with third party live service titles, you don't need to invest in the game development and content upkeep. You just get the cut of the sales.

Gotta say, seeing gameplay for Spider-Man 2 made me like the game a lot. I'm a sucker for the webhead. Peter and Miles look great and have some difference in the gameplay loop, so yay. Plus we get to fight Kraven the Hunter. Hell yes.

Alan Wake II, Plucky Squire... those look great. As for the Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater remake, while excited, I am kind of nervous which developer will be tied to the project. With Bloober Team on the Silent Hill 2 remake and being a bit cautious about it, I have no idea who Konami will put on ths project.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the impression Spiderman 2 won't even have Venom but rather Peter will just become Venom at some point and Miles will have to beat him up. They probably think that will be a cool way to play as Venom but it feels like a cop-out to me

Venom, Miles, and Peter were in the first trailer together.

I just remembered, isn't the Horizons franchise also getting a multiplayer game? I wonder how that's going lol

What I do wonder though is who is going to be Venom. Edie Brock, or are they fully going the Harry Osborn as Venom route they teased in the first game ?
Harry, with the symbiote making it's way to Eddie in time for a Miles Morales style Venom spinoff game

Its not about making some money, its about making ALL the money. Constant growth.

Idk if they'd do another solo Miles game. I think Peter and Miles will just be a duo at this point.
On another note, the Easy Allies really made this PlayStation Showcase or whatever you call it really hype and kinda summed up all my reactions to it all.

It was a good presentation of games, just a bad Playstation Showcase as far as first party titles outside of Spider-man.

Look up how roughly how much money some of the more succesfull GaaS games generate. Of course they want more.

It depends on if they add another character or not.
They meant a Venom solo game, kind of like what Miles got, not a new Miles game, I could see that personally.

I'm sure a Spider-Ghost game would sell well, Gwen Stacy is pretty popular now with the Into the Spider-Verse films. I don't think Gwen is ever mentioned, they can just make Spider-Ghost that universe Gwen Stacy and not bringing the multiverse. Now what I would want is a Silk game but I'm probably one of the few person who really like that character lol.
And a Venom game would sell a loooot too.

well the miles team is making wolverine so i doubt there will be a solo miles/venom game before Spider-Man 3 regardless unless they dump the Ratchet IP (for a while) and the Rift Apart team make it/a Spiderverse game
