I just think we've gone through this conversation before, expectant that Nintendo absolutely HAS to tell us their slate for the rest of the year, and then the timing gets narrower and narrower and suddenly it's September and we still know nothing. It feels like Nintendo's pattern has consistently been that the less they share the better things seem to work out. It only feels desperate on our corners of the internet, with the occasional social media comments begging for news.
Yeah see we had that conversation during the, y'know, worldwide pandemic. That was the only time, we knew all of H2 at this point last year, and every other year has been business as usual. They really gotta announce stuff sometime soon

I mean we have done this before but it's quite a bit different I'd say so I wouldn't doubt something next month. I don't reasonably think they won't have something next month or early July.

But people are definitely committing the same mistakes as last year with their confidence on all sides so whatever happens will be a shitshow. I just find Nintendo's marketing strategy very interesting to see.

i've seen the opinion that Nintendo isn't doing a June Direct because they only ever did it out of tradition because of E3 or whatever alongside the opinion that they might do an August Direct a few times now and I just wanna say that I find that take very strange

it just feels very muddled, they care that much about the E3 thing but suddenly don't care about TGS traditions just because? do they care about traditions or not?
TGS Direct is neither a "tradition" nor a "pattern." TGS is a cause and the Direct is an effect. The June 2022 Partner Showcase was pretty successful, so if for whatever reason Nintendo wants to announce their own software later than June they can do so with a smaller event and have have a Partner Showcase in service of TGS.

Splatoon 3: Bit on the Side deserves to be revealed in a no hype tweet saying it's coming a week later; so there's no need for a direct for it.

That's the treatment Xenoblade got, and if they treat Splatoon better I'll be a whiny baby about it.

Alright i'm gonna ask Bad Religion on Twitter about it.
They could totally repurpose "I Love My Computer" by replacing every instance of the word "computer" with the word "Direct". Like, very badly, with an obviously different voice and tone.
I love my DIRECT
You make me feel alright
Every waking hour
And every lonely night
I love my DIRECT
For all you give to me
Predictable errors
And no identity

You know how EPD employees top each new release from previous entry? That's right, We need to top Nintendo Direct Speculation |ST3| Speculate Chronicles 3 - 717 pages long, ST4 which had 291 pages should be a no brainer. We need to hurry, we don't have that much time left. I don't make the rules, Zelda fucked this up but we need to go. We are not even 50 pages in.

Not every time, they added cats to the second Nintendogs game.

I'll never understand how Nintendogs wasn't one of the top priorities for Nintendo on mobile. F2P dog petting game with your touch screen would print money.

Nothing but respect for my Nintendogs

Nintendogs better be compatible with the Mario Kart Live Circuit Karts

I think it of every time I break mine out to play with my cat

Nintendo saw leaked footage of the Sony Showcase and decided "No need for a Direct anymore everyone. There's no Knack 3. We're gonna dominate this year with just Pikmin 4!"

Yeah, someway after seeing that PS Showcase I’m now totally confident there won’t be a summer Direct, there’s really no need to.

I’m happy Konami is releasing all their backlog through collections (Castlevania, TMNT, Suikoden, Contra, MGS..). Whats left are SH collections, at least including SH1-3, and something of their licensed 90’s stuff like loony tones.

After watching that Sony showcase....

Yeah, Nintendo doesn't need to announce anything this summer. The competition not only didn't show up, but it fled the country.

Goemon, Batman, Tiny Toons and Rocket Knight Adventures

Sure, Sony might have Square Enix making a Splatoon for their Wii U, but they've yet to draft a developer into making an Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for them

That Marathon announcement made me feel the same way I'll feel when NIntendo announces the inevitable Star Fox reboot as anything but a railshooter because they refuse to listen to incompetent fans like myself.

Switch in its twilight year and it's gonna still be the most talked about and maybe best selling hardware this year. Tears of the Kingdom and Mario movie really making Nintendo shine and stand out. And they still have plenty of quality games to add a cherry to the pie. They have to do almost nothing in regards to June Direct contents to please all the audience after the underwhelming PS showcase.

I wonder where Castlevania is at? Maybe Nintendo got it after all.

Edit

Oh wait forgot about SGF. It will probably be there.
Yeah, we have to see how things look after that stuff because there might be significant third party announcements in there as there is only so much space in these platform shows and Geoff has a few ins with these studios at this point.

Castlevania doesn't seem to be getting as rumor heavy as Silent Hill and MGS so I just don't think we'll see it for a while regardless of where it shows up.

Just a reminder that both Nintendo and Konami are absent from the list of participating companies for SGF, so people saying stuff like "Nintendo won't have a Direct, they'll just announce a game or two at SGF" are just plain wrong.

If this Castlevania rumour is true, then it will either be a standalone presentation like with Silent Hill or it will be announced by one of the platform holders Nintendo/Microsoft

Konami is mysteriously absent from SGF. Whatever they have, will be at Nintendo Direct or Xbox Showcase. I feel they have more than just MGS and CV.

For some reason since dread only sold about 3 million units and prime remastered being shadow dropped, people are now convinced nintendo will treat the prime 4 rereveal on the same level of a kirby spin off or a mario sports game announcement
Its amusing because only concern trolls think a 2d game selling 3 million is bad. But yeah, very bizarre takes we have been seeing lately

Its such a terrible idea. Like, at least if it was just a streaming handheld, but you also gotta own a ps5 too lmaoooo
I think it's a terrible product but a great idea. PlayStation has enthusiastic, fairly wealthy, and tech-oriented fans. Expensive peripherals with high profit margins will capitalize on that valuable market contingency.

Seeing the reaction to the whole showcase in general is pretty interesting.

Sony has now firmly established their brand. If you want to play Counter-Strike or League of Legends, you get a PC. If you want cinematic first-person/third-person adventure/shooting or sports simulation games, you get a Playstation. With the PS4 Sony has seized a huge and devoted core audience and with the PS5 they fully adapted to that fact. They have clearly done their market research. Exclusivity doesn't really matter much any more for them - every Sony first-party game could honestly release day and date on PS5 and PC and they would barely lose a customer, these people aren't migrating to PC as they are fully invested into the Playstation eco-system. Similarly, people moan about all these peripherals but people are invested into the brand and as a result buy them in big numbers.

ps vr 2 sales would beg to differ on that one...Sony peripherals selling well is far from guaranteed
