Only Birabuto Kingdom is, but even then if that's the focus they could punt Sunset Wilds into Wave 6 for a GCN track, probably DK Mountain
Agreed. They could do it similar to Yoshi's Island. The race takes you through all 4 sections of Sarasaland with only the first part being desert themed.

The whole speculation of Mob DK being a Super Mario Land / Sarasaland course rests upon it being a desert track (DK standing for DesertKingdom or DaisyKingdom in the files in this case). The Tour it is speculated to be introduced in seems to feature both desert tracks (Kalimari Desert, Sunset Wilds, Yoshi Desert and Dry Dry Ruins) and Daisy tracks (Daisy Cruiser, Daisy Circuit, Daisy Hills), which is where this line of speculation originated from in the first place. It’d have to be based on Birabuto Kingdom primarily.

mobDK not being Donkey Kong themed would surprise me.
  • Yoshi's Island was such a love letter to the franchise and I don't think they'd do something like this in the DLC just one time. It fits to the Nintendo universe tracks (Excitebike, F Zero, Zelda, Animal Crossing) from the original game that include one special mechanic and represent a certain franchise. If they would include a random place from a mainline Mario game, why not the desert from Mario 64 or Odyssey? It feels kinda weird.
  • DK characters returning is such an obvious thing to happen, and I do think they'll want to have a new track for them. They even waited until Yoshi's Island was there to bring back Birdo, and it will probably be more than one Kong they're resurrecting, so I totally think they deserve to have a new track.

We already have DK Jungle fitting the DKC love letter bill I guess...

If we are getting another love letter to a Mario subseries, I hope it will be WarioWare. Damn deserves it.

Aww man, my hopes were dashed as quickly as they were raised by GCN Rainbow Road coming to BCP...

So I guess I am holding out hope for that course to make it into the base game of the next console Mario Kart with all fancy graphical bells and whistles and the BEST Rainbow Road song.

So. This is awkward.

Besides the two Bowser Castle gaps (mostly; GBABC4 has one ID each for the RT and T variants) closing, there were zero ID changes this Tour. None! More notably from the datamining side, the Bone Piranha Plant object we've assumed was tied to Bone Dry Dunes has now been used. It's safe to say that Tour won't be getting any Wii U tracks at this point, and the Mecha Cheep Cheep will probably be used elsewhere instead of for Water Park, so i've removed both from the datamined course list. Honestly it'd be wise to remove Tick-Tock Clock as well, but it doesn't impact 8DX speculation one way or another so i'll keep it around for now.

As for the next Tour, considering the next set of Mii Costumes are more Koopalings and not Waluigi, there's a non-zero chance that we might actually see the GCN Mushroom track next Tour instead; as it'd be difficult to imagine why they would sit on the Waluigi Mii Suit for so long if not for Waluigi Stadium. There's no way to tell one over the other in that massive gap, so we'll have to wait for next Thursday or Friday.

Another weird one. No ID changes again besides the GCN gap getting cut down to account for Mushroom Bridge. We can eliminate a few of the potential options alphabetically because of that at least; there's nothing between DK Mountain and Mushroom Bridge.

Next Tour should be interesting though, as it'll close up the Daisy Circuit gap, but also rule out a few GBA options depending on if there is any gap between Peach Circuit and Riverside Park (there will definitely be a gap before it still, for Luigi Circuit and potentially something else).

Do you think this signifies that Tour is winding down? At least to the point of not adding any new courses?

Or has this sort of thing happened before?

The scent of tour winding down has been in the air for awhile now hasn't it?

I feel there's more "people trying to mentally justify how Tour could be winding down because they hate Nintendo 'wasting' resources in a phone game" than actual signs of the game winding down.

I actually feel that Tour has been ramping UP this year, what with all the new nitros, cities coming with multiple variants at a time, and recent Tours debuting two new courses at a time.

Which is why I'm surprised to see the lack of ID gap increases these last two Tours. But I'm not a dataminer, so maybe there's a logical explanation for that.

Could maybe argue that they’re pushing out everything they have before the next anniversary tour. Don’t think that’s the case, but it’s not impossible.

Do people say that Fire Emblem Heroes or Animal Crossing Pocket Camp are "winding down" too now after 3? and 1 successful new console launches in their respectives franchises or this is just a "I hate Mario Kart Tour in particular" type of thing? I just don't understand it.

Very well might have ramped up due to the connection with the BCP. I think the real test for tour will be 6-12 months after the BCP ends, assuming they don't announce a BCP 2.

Warioware is so disconnected it Bassicaly isn’t even under the Mario umbrella at this point.

Don’t know much about either if these games, but my understanding is that FEH is way more popular and the ACPC updates are nowhere near as big as Mario Kart’s.

“Winding down” doesn’t mean it’s permanently dead either, there’s still be tours, new cosmetics, etc. Just that the primary development for new tracks and new characters (besides maybe alts) would end. We don’t know exactly how many devs from EPD are behind Tour, but they’ll have to slow down eventually.

Are we sure the "Rio" gap represents one city course? With its size could it not be 2 nitro tracks that are close alphabetically?

Nah that’s about the size the Piranha Plant Cove and Athens gaps were at before they released. Worth keeping in mind with city tracks that the gaps need to contain three whole courses (the three routes); it’s more impressive that the GCN gap got to 50 despite seemingly only containing two courses.

Do you think this signifies that Tour is winding down? At least to the point of not adding any new courses?

Or has this sort of thing happened

I believe a few Tours in a row with minimal to no ID changes have happened before (the Tour Discords went back and looked through increases during every past Tour to figure out the patterns). In fact the frequency of ID increases in recent months is the larger abnormality, and more of a sign of winding down than the current slowdown (preparing future Tours further ahead than ever before, presumably to wrap up active production sooner?).

I feel there's more "people trying to mentally justify how Tour could be winding down because they hate Nintendo 'wasting' resources in a phone game" than actual signs of the game winding down.

There’s plenty of reason to think Tour is in the process of winding down. If there’s no new software update before the next Tour starts (doesn’t seem to be, in-game news banners can be datamined), it’ll be the largest gap between updates in the life of the game. We’re already in the largest gap between notable updates on the datamining side; they haven’t added any new objects for months and months, nor any new ID gaps either, which says to me they have likely plotted out the remainder of the tracks they want to add to the game. There are a few datamined tracks that still have no ID gap though, which could be saved for late life support (four of them are the remaining tracks from 7 that haven’t made it in already), or have been scrapped entirely at this point. By now we’d be seeing datamining references to 2024’s new courses based on past history (Athens and Yoshi’s Islands got their first objects in March 2022), but that hasn’t happened.

After they dump out all of the content required for the Booster Course Pass and whatever spare retro tracks they’ve remade in the same period, I don’t think it’ll end up lasting much longer; dragging things out to the 5th anniversary in September next year is the best scenario I can imagine right now.

That makes sense. The "Rio" gap is such a mystery still. We have no real hints at what it could be and it's likely coming in July? I guess we're spoiled actually knowing the names of MobDK, MobBR, and MobMD

Yeah, I fear so too. And that makes me sad, actually.

Current prediction for Wave 5 right now :)

Feather Cup
Tour Athens Dash
GBA Sunset Wilds
Wii Koopa Cape
Tour Los Angeles Laps

Cherry Cup
Tour Rio Raceway
GCN Mushroom Bridge
SNES Bowser Castle 3 (I could also see this being postponed to Wave 6 in favour of Daisy Cruiser)
Sarasaland

Maybe we are seeing the trailer in June already?

I'm going with this prediction :

Wave 5

Feather
Tour Athens
GCN Mushroom Bridge
Wii Koopa Cape
Tour Los Angeles

Cherry
Tour mobMD (Madrid?)
GCN Daisy Cruiser
SNES Bowser's Castle
mobDK (Sarasaland?)

Diddy + Kamek

Wave 6

Acorn
Tour Vancouver
GBA Sunset Wilds
mobBR (bathroom track?)
Piranha Plant Cove

Blue Shell
Tour (Rio?)
GCN DK Mountain
??? (new lava themed nitro track)
Rainbow Road Wii

Funky + Petey Piranha + Pauline

It seems to me to be quite representative of what we've had so far in terms of variety and difficulty, and of course it's very much based on leaks and datamines.
Let's wait and see !

Wow. I’ve waited nearly 20 years to see Mushroom City again, which is, in my opinion, the best traffic course ever made in Mario Kart. I’m crushed.

Is this how Airship Fortress fans feel? But At least that course returned a few times.

I still love the BCP, and have been very spoiled with some of the selections. This is definitely one i’m not happy with, though, especially with so few remaining GC slots left. (And we pretty much know the other ones are gonna be Daisy Cruiser and DK Mountain / Jungle)

Next Tour is once again looking to be exactly what the IDs speculated; Wii Daisy Circuit and GBA Peach Circuit together.
Thanks for the info! I'm excited to see what they do for the glow ups of these two. How far into the future is the datamining typically quite accurate? For example, with all of the new courses predicted to come out in July and August, is that reasonably certain at this point?

GBA Peach Circuit? I wonder what are the chances that the circuit theme from Super Circuit is going to get a brand new remix, or if they’ll use the one from MKDS.

Sky Garden got a new remix, have to imagine we get a new one here too.

I find it interesting that we’re likely looking at two GBA Circuit tracks in back-to-back Tours.

I forgot how pleasant Daisy Circuit looks with that sunset.

Honestly I don't care what gets in waves 5 and 6, this game is an embarrassment of riches already with all the tracks.

I know we have the mobile version to strongly consider, but I really hope Nintendo does the right thing and puts in the extra work to bring back as much of the Wii features of Koopa Cape as possible. I will be so disheartened if we don’t get the fast water finish and electric turbines of the original. Both of those elevate the course so much.

Hot take: I don't want Peach Circuit GBA in MK8D yet. Not because of anything with the layout (vertically indeed adds a lot!) but because I just know they'd reuse the music from GBA Mario Circuit like they reused DS Wario Stadium for DS Waluigi Pinball, and I'm not ready for that heartbreak again.

Looks like Waluigi Stadium is coming next tour.

It’s a weird situation since they tweeted out an image accidentally showing the Mario Team Rally token in the UI earlier this week, so before this Mii Suit reveal I was sure Mario Vs Luigi was still on the table. Now i’m not so sure; the Mii Costumes would imply one of the Moo Moo courses (Monty Moles are on both) and Waluigi Stadium instead; but the former would require a software update during this Princess Tour to add the Moo Moo object itself. Just have to wait and see.

Wow, two more great looking courses! Tour has been knocking it out of the park recently! Daisy Circuit is still my all-time favorite circuit, but Peach Circuit's glow-up is incredible!

IMO, the best case scenario for the Booster Course Pass is Koopa Cape and Mushroom Bridge being swapped out for Daisy Circuit and Dry Dry Ruins. Koopa Cape would probably be the Tour version (ugh) and Mushroom Bridge is a little bit too generic and simple for me. Daisy Circuit and Dry Dry Ruins both got good Tour remakes that belong in the Booster Course Pass.

Speculated Tour Timeline

Looks like the dataminers are speculating that the "Rio" tour could be sooner than previously thought: June 26th tour instead of July 12th tour 👀

Edit: My apologies. Looks like they're currently working on the document. Just got moved back to July 12th lol. Please disregard.

if we're getting a Dry Dry course I'd much rather have it be Dry Dry Desert so we at least have more GCN rep
