NSO NSO Missions and Rewards

Four years later I can finally rock a Byleth icon.

EDIT: No I'm not, I forgot how much I hated his default Engage art. It sucks. Hopefully one day we can get a non-Emblem one :/
I'm rocking Eirika instead because she is the best female lord, don't @ me

Looks like we aren't totally done with Animal Crossing icons after all! Seems like they'll be adding in special characters to spice up the reruns.

Current total is at 532 for anyone still following along.

I will never be free from Animal Crossing Icons. My poor Platinum Coins...

Hey, at least it’s only 40 Platinum Points a month now; that’s much more manageable than before! lol

Also at this point I’m worried that they’re just not going to give us icon elements for any other past games from 2017 through 2022, only newer releases from now on, aside from Nintendo Switch Online stuff… Give me icons elements for ARMS! And Xenoblade Chronicles 2! And Kirby Star Allies! And Nintendo Labo! And Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido! And Ring Fit Adventure! And Pokémon Sword / Pokémon Shield! And Paper Mario: The Origami King! And Famicom Detective Club! And Miitopia! And WarioWare: Get It Together! And Metroid Dread! And…I could go on and on. But those games are all old news now, so no chance at them getting icon elements now I guess…

I'm particularly bummed about the lack of Metroid Dread icons. Seems like the game just barely missed the window in which it'd be relevant to see icons offered for it. Samus's base Power Suit in Dread is a favorite of mine, so if it ever got an icon, it's likely one I'd use for a good length of time.

Wonder what's up with the lack of Tuesday weekly icon sets for a bit now. The Prime Remastered icon set is only two weeks long and Kirby will be over before the end of the month as well; so they'll need to introduce something else in the next two weeks to keep the drops going. I doubt we're getting a Bayonetta Origins set since they skipped Bayonetta 3, so... what's the deal? Maybe they'll start running Mario Kart again after Wave 4 launches? That's my only guess.

Not expecting GB or GBA icons anytime soon since the game lineup is so tiny, but I don't see why SNES icons couldn't happen in the coming months. More than enough material to pull from in the current game selection.

Don’t see why they couldn’t do icon runs for older games. It might not take priority over runs for new games but I think there would be plenty of interest.

I'm glad Animal Crossing is done outside of a few new ones. Getting all those icons every month was a chore.

Seriously Nintendo, add some checkboxes or a "Buy All" button for completionists like me.

Not gonna lie, a little disappointed we'll most likely never get icons for the FE Engage DLC Emblems. I just wanted a Camilla icon...
I’m just gonna say it

It would be hard to organize

But they should do a Super Smash Bros Ultimate icon set
I would love if it they did this, but I imagine there would be some kind of legal shenanigans involved when it comes to third-party characters. I would totally rock Snake and Joker icons if they found a way to do it though.

We’ve still yet to get any third-party icon elements so I’m not sure Smash ones would happen unless it was only first-party characters, and at that point I’m not sure if they’d even do it at all, but I would love some Smash icon elements. Unfortunately with Smash DLC being over and all by now I dunno if that would ever happen.

The game was still getting regular updates at the time, though.

So far, all of the games featured with icon elements have been games that recently released or still have ongoing support, aside from four: BotW, Splatoon 2, SMO, and AC:NH. And of those, Splatoon 2 and AC:NH are at least relevant to Nintendo Switch Online as their DLC expansions come with NSO + Expansion Pack, and they probably wanted to get Splatoon 2 icons out of the way before Splatoon 3—and the same for BotW before TotK (plus I’m sure they wanted to have SOME Zelda icon elements early on despite there having not been a new Zelda release in the past year, which would explain picking BotW). And then with AC:NH, it’s the only Animal Crossing on Switch so they probably wanted that on there as well. Odyssey is kind of the odd one out, but I assume it was chosen as the only completely new main series Mario game on Switch, as with AC:NH and Animal Crossing.

That gets us icon elements of Nintendo’s biggest IPs on Switch—Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Pokémon being eventually added with Scarlet/Violet. But I worry about the chances of other games. Like, if we were ever getting Xenoblade Chronicles 2 icon elements, why wouldn’t we have gotten them before the XC3 ones? And same for Metroid Dread before Metroid Prime Remastered, or Fire Emblem: Three Houses before Fire Emblem Engage, or any of the previous Pokémon games on Switch before Scarlet/Violet, etc. I’d love to be proven wrong and for us to get more icon elements from past games, but until it happens I’m gonna remain worried that it won’t…

Previously I thought that they were gonna be adding icon elements from older games by year, starting with 2017 since we got BotW, MK8D, S2, and SMO ones, but if that was really the case then you’d think we’d have icon elements for ARMS and XC2 by now, yet we don’t…

I wonder how into/not into the idea of icon elements third parties involved in Smash would be? I feel like we both know the one company who’d be the biggest stickler in trying to get that going.

Maybe they could get ‘em on board by telling them NSO Icons Elements are sort of like NFTs. I bet they’d be into it then. 😂

I think the bigger question is, before even considering the third-parties, is Nintendo even interested in having third-party icon elements at all? They may want to keep it to strictly first-party stuff.

Seriously. It’s so slow to click through everything and go back and forth. Now I wonder what I’m gonna do with my expiring platinum coins since I have all the AC icons.

I feel like there's plenty of elements that Smash could offer even if it wasn't about the fighters per se. Master Hand and Crazy Hand, Galeem and Dharkon, Galleom, Duon, Tabuu, Master Core and all its iterations, technically Giga Bowser is only in the SSB universe and not official Mario canon, Sandbag, Smash Ball (and the fake Smash Ball), capsules, crates, barrels, beam swords, assist trophies, party balls, the polygon fighter models, Battlefield and Final Destination, Home Run Contest and Break The Target fields, Meta Crystal from Smash 64...

In short, yes I agree with the premise and honestly it should have been done from the get go or at the very least Smash 64 should come to NSO ASAP so there can also be a correlating Smash icon set

Alright, I'll ask here: assuming they end up adding Metroid Fusion icons that are exclusive to NSO EP members, would it be feasible for me to simply hop on someone's family plan, nab them, and dip, or are they only usable while one is still actively a part of the service? No idea how the N64 ones work.

I’d just like to note that I’m very sad I missed the opportunity to get Xenoblade 3 icons and they should really make them available at a higher price on the Nintendo site.

Is there any place to check the total counts for each game?

Xenoblade 3: 90
Mario Kart 8: 194
Kirby Dream Buffet: 35

Having 10 friends on Super Mario Run, even the free version, will net you a total of 300 Plat Coins. First friend = 100, 5 = 100, and reaching 10 = 100.

Happy to add anybody to help, send me a friend request:

I stopped playing Super Mario Run when I reached 69420 Toads. Do you actually have to play, or just add friends?

Just add friends, no purchase or play necessary, although iirc there may have been a very short tutorial you can blast through.

You can get 120 Platinum Points each week from playing Toad Rally in Super Mario Run, though—10 per day for playing Toad Rally, and 50 per week for winning 3 times in Toad Rally. One of the easiest, quickest, and most reliable methods of getting Platinum Points. It certainly beats grinding out missions in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and while Fire Emblem Heroes is good for getting loads of Platinum Points, the available missions for it are finite unlike Super Mario Run’s daily and weekly missions.

I'm actually locked out of my my Nintendo account because of 2fa lol

My new phone got nuked because I am an idiot. Old phone won't turn on so I can't get the Google authenticator to work. Oh well it is only a problem to get more platinum coins. For now anyways.

this happened to me and customer service took care of it really easily. iirc they asked for a serial number, most recent purchase, and most recently played game

Thank you. Somehow I'm missing some for Switch Sports, I hope they will return .

Only four new icon parts (three characters, one border) in the second and final new Splatoon 3 wave, huh. Feels very weird to end on 194 for now; but i'm sure we'll get more Splatoon 3 icons eventually when Side Order hits.

Well, the weekly My Nintendo Mission for signing in to the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS or Wii U is finally gone now, and we still have no replacement for it… There goes an easy 50 Platinum Points per week. I don’t understand why they haven’t given us one for using the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch…

Yet again no new Tuesday icon set for the month; just five more special AC icons, and SMB2 as the game of the month for 50 free points.

Gut feeling tells me we'll get Mario Movie icons later in the week, since the Splatoon set is already ending as well.
