Like the idea of making the base NSO games their own release date. Makes the expansion pak games feel more special and an event. Let’s hope they also keep the NES and SNES games coming too. Still Namco games they can release since that seems to be a supporting third party.

It’s never been on sale on the Eshop tho, just checked Deku deals
??? weird. Coulda swore I saw it was on sale there and then I rushed here to tell someone who had said they were waiting for a sale but I forgot who it was and opted to shut up. 😅
Maybe one of those Mandella effect things or something.
Or maybe my brain hasn't had enough time to recover after playing through Bayo3

After using a Mac for about six-ish years I think I’m going to make the jump back to PC. Between wanting a bigger laptop and two of my most wanted games launching as PC only (Hades II and Hyper Light Breaker) it’s probably time for me to move back to a Windows laptop.

Guess I'm gonna have to update the OP again at some point with the new games ahaha

Still, keeping fingers crossed eventually for an N64 update, but something tells me I probably shouldn't bother holding my breath

For some reason I thought Xevious was already on the service, but better late than never I guess

The year is 1998.
You get home from school, and fire up Ocarina of Time on your N64. The little tube TV in your bedroom thumps to life with a pulse of static electricity. You've been waiting all day for this, scribbling baddies and items from the game into the margins of your notebook in class.
You leave Kokiri village, and see Hyrule Field stretching out before you as far as the horizon as the sun sets.
You can't wait to see what lies ahead, and you can't wait for the weekend cos your friend is coming over and bringing his controller so you can go head to head in Goldeneye.
Life is good.

I remember getting the game a bit late, just a few weeks before Christmas (late birthday gift) so I have so many great memories of playing OoT in the lead up to the holiday. Decorating the tree and having random Christmas music faintly in the background while playing, getting off of school on holiday break and being able to play a lot more, etc.

I remember doing a day trip to the mountains to hike with my dad and constantly thinking about Link becoming adult Link and the redeads in the market and how bleak it was the entire time since that’s the part I had just gotten to.

We searched an entire mall in Oregon for a copy and we’re able to get a gold one on Black Friday of all days.

So speaking of OoT. I think I might have had a rare copy? I searched online at the time and it said only the gold carts had the crescent moons, Muslim chanting in the fire temple, and red blood, but my gray copy had all of that. So is this wrong and some gray copies had the removed content? I feel like this has to be wrong. Really wish I didn't lose my N64 in the move.

Apparently there were gray 1.1 version carts that had those aspects. V1.2 was when the things were removed according to this 11 year old gamefaq thread I just read. Has to be true

Okay that makes sense and I figured it was wrong. It's just weird because my N64 and the games I got were years after release so you'd think the 1.1 version would have been sold by then but I guess N64 did sell terribly but I also think US was one of it's stronger markets.

I just saw the Just Dance 2024 song track list and I’m gonna buy it because it’s the best one in a longtime

He apologized about the stuff he said five years ago, but how good the apology is up to interpretation, and I think the racist thing that people are talking about is Mr. pinch who is based on Ebeneezer Scrooge and Mr. Burns, but could be interpreted as a racist Jewish stereotype

what a terrible time, unlike my Speedrun-esque sliding under that refund time frame to deny him my money

He also was saying a bunch of misogynist/republican stuff on his discord in 2018

Golden cartridge was version 1.0, grey cartridges had versions 1.1 and 1.2. 1.1 still has that stuff, it was removed in 1.2.

Btw the crescent moon symbols were only removed in the GC rerelease, all N64 versions have them.

My dream is that some day Nintendo would offer a way to actually buy and own NSO retro platforms when they stop feeding them with games, like a physical and digital release of every NSO app, so we can keep those games forever instead of renting them every year.
For example "Nintendo 64 NSO Collection", with a beautiful box art of the N64 in the center and N64 characters around it.

Of course, this will make sense when the service is over, not before.

This is kind of random but I've been thinking about how I don't particularly like mana/energy system management these days and I actually prefer ability cool downs instead. But I feel like ability cool downs have been only in action RPGs. Is there a turn based RPG with ability cool downs and no mana/energy management system? I can't think of any.

I'm actually making one that doesn't have cool downs, but the MP system works inversely so that you build up MP rather than deplete it. And once it's at the max of the MP bar, you don't have to stop using spells, you just have to realize that using more MP will start damaging your HP. So it's a tradeoff of how desperate you are to use more magic.

Yep, those are Switch button prompts.

But they teased Gothic 2 on Switch before Christmas last year. So it might be a collection of some sorts. Wonder Gothic 3 is also included...

I'm loving this love Piranha Bytes sending to Switch nonetheless.

IIRC the Zeboyd RPG games all have this like Cthulhu Saves The World and Cosmic Star Heroine. You’ll use an ability and then you can’t use it again for X number of turns. I’m like 50/50 that’s how they worked. I never beat any because I always would get pulled away for whatever reason, but they all seemed cool. One day!

Cereza and the Lost Demon releases tomorrow, anyone doing a ST?

I'm excited about it! I hope it does better than what it feels like it's going to do..

Unless someone is secretly planning one, seemingly no one :/

If no one wants to do a basic one, I’m sure a pseudo one will pop up. I’m looking forward to playing it on Friday.

John Wick Ch2 was definitely a work of art. I’m not sure what that Italian dude was expecting would happen. I like that it seems to have led directly into Ch3, which I will watch either tonight or tomorrow.

You know what would crack me up. If Nintendo’s big fall game was HD-2D Super Mario RPG, and it’s a summer/august announcement

@Derachi its official! No confirmation on if it’s a reboot of the OG run or going off the current. I’m betting reboot that’ll do the new material if it survives multiple seasons

Looking forward to the inevitable Go Fight remix

Ocarina of Time scared me as a child, ngl.

Finished Paranormasight.

This game should in no way or form be slept on. It should in a just world be considered the new hot mystery VN. Give it a try!

Really made me nostalgic from back in 2008 when I first played Phoenix Wright and was so hooked that I didn’t notice the DS battery going out, so I was suddenly cut off.

Was going to play Bayonetta Origins this weekend but it's not being delivered until Tuesday. Welp need to find something else to play.

Squeenix sale on the UK eShop, including recent games like Dragon Quest Treasures (-40%), FF Crisis Core (-20%), Harvestella (-30%).

I'd be tempted by similar prices for physical copies.

Should be a similar sale in NA this afternoon. Hoping for half off Saga Frontier
