Just don’t forget to check the eShop for patches for any physical games you’re planning to get later. It’s been unclear if patches will still download automatically after the closure.
Yeah. This is a good point. And Dream Team has a game breaking bug apparently, so I know that was patched. Not sure if it was via the eshop or the game.

I know Pokémon games all had them via the eshop and lots of others. A pretty terrible setup when you think about it.

Just an heads up: if you have never used the Poké Bank before you will need to sub to be able to download the Poké Transporter (NDS -> 3DS).
It's €4.99 and you will not be able to sub or download the Poké Transporter after the eShop closed, meaning you will need to resort to homebrew.

What a joke of a system lol. I don’t care about transferring Pokémon but they sure make it hard to transfer things. Even today the new games don’t get home integration for months. That might be a conscious choice to get people to use the new Pokémon (and might be issues with needing to patch in more with updates).

I already have Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest on my 3DS, but I went ahead and bought Revelation out of FOMO. Will probably do the same for Birthright. Luckily, they were all still available on the NA eShop. At first I didn't realize the 2/28 delisting didn't apply to me.

I think I'm due for a replay of Conquest, though. I was pretty new to Fire Emblem when I first tried it, so I never finished it. I don't really know what to expect with Revelation, but I will try to get through it the next time I'm looking for something to play.

They are also greedy as fuck. Transporter, Bank and Home are all separate purchases / sub, and they conceptually do the same thing.

At the very last minute, Atlus canceled its Nintendo 3DS Final Sale on digital games. The sale was supposed to take place on March 2, 2023 in Japan. However on March 1, 2023, Atlus announced that it will no longer happen. It did not state a reason in its announcement.
i think this officially confirms that Nintendo is finally starting to block devs from discounting games on the 3DS and Wii U.
if there's anything you haven't bought yet (and hasn't gone on sale prior) now would definitely be a good time to buy it.

I was going to make one last effort to buy the things I was missing during this month, but fuck it.

If it’s a Nintendo decision then it is stupid. The last Atlus sale in NA saw all those games in the top 10 eshop downloads. It’s their best way to make money in my opinion vs turning people off

Yea I need to pivot from trying to progress through Layton x Wright so I can access the bonus content (which was stupidly DLC for some reason) and just get on with picking everything else up. I'm so glad they put the GB/GBA NSO stuff up because that takes some of the wallet pressure off. But I still want to get the Guild games and a handful of other things before everything goes away.

I just picked up the DLC for the AA games. No way I can play Layton/Wright in time to get that stuff, so oh well I guess. Gonna buy revelations DLC for fates and some DS games on Wii U. Have pretty much everything else I want. Might get Denpa Men 3 because when would that ever get made again.

I saw speculation that Atlus canceled the sale because they advertised the previous sale was going to be the last one, so if they did another they could get in trouble for false advertising.

That makes more sense to me than Nintendo forbidding them to for no reason, especially after Atlus had already announced the sale, which indicates there were no impeditives between them and Nintendo to do it.

I hope they will still host a sale in the Americas.

Yea, I've got the AA DLC already too. I really don't get why they did the Layton/Wright bonus content the way they did because it goes against how both series have handled it in the past. I figure if I really want to see it that the options are going to be watching an LP, custom firmware, or waiting for a remaster (which feels 0.1% more likely now that Level-5 resurrected themselves).

Confirmed the DLC for Layton Mystery Journey is AWOL. Looks like it was some bonus outfits and an extra puzzle with each outfit.

The free daily puzzles are still available which would’ve been the bigger loss I think.

Thank you @xghost777 for mentioning this a while back!

feels like something that would affect anything using a NAND/flash storage (but I also have no clue what I'm talking about)

Hmmm still hoping Atlus‘ll do one last sale. I wanna pick up the handful of SMT games I’m missing

Turn on your Wii U if you haven’t
Anectdotally, I had a weird thing a few months back where it was refusing to boot WiI discs until I powered it off, unplugged it from the outlet for 30 seconds or more, and then hooked it back up. Which I think was actually covered in a FAQ, something like static discharge may have built up somewhere?

EUROPE ONLY: on 3DS, Kid Tripp and Digger Dan DX are just free downloads now. Kid Tripp is also on sale for 1EUR on Switch currently.

And basically the entire Circle Ent catalogue is on sale until the lights turn off. Circle might be the most consistent and prolific publisher on the 3DS eShop (Witch & Hero series, Legend of the Dark Witch series, Fairune, Conbini Dream, etc etc etc) (also all those generic Kemco RPGs if you care for those). Also Punch Club is on sale, iirc they just recently announced a sequel?

And Severed is on sale until the 12th. The 3DS version is the best version of that game despite being on every other touch-enabled system too. You can't beat two screens.

It's hard for me to "let go" the Wii/U and 3/DS platforms because I used them very much in formative years of my life. I got the Wii at the beginning of my apprenticeship and I bought the Wii U when I started university.
I will be really sad at the day I will try to boot one of these consoles up, just to see that they are broken. I also don't wanna hack them even though I know I could save some data with it.

But the day will come where I will look like Toon Link and have to

let go of not wanting to homebrew them and homebrew them. this would even allow you to get more joy out of them (like play gamecube games on the gamepad)

I'm selling mine now before it dies. My gamepad's screen already had a huge black burn on the bottom part. I'm finishing the last game or two and then I'm putting it for a bargain, I just want to get rid of it.

My 3DS I won't sell but also feels like it's falling a apart. A dead pixel appeared on the top screen which could be sign of more to come, and the circle pad cap came off. Problem is I still have about 20 games I need to finish on it, at least half are very long RPGs.

I don't know why but I like to have my consoles in their "original" state. Doesn't makes sense but that's how it is for me

My Wii U and my New Nintendo 3DS are still in very good condition, so at least that won't be a problem for me at the moment. But sadly stuff like broken internal storage will sooner or later get them

that's why you homebrew them. they'll look the same, except you can actually rescue the important stuff^^

My 3DS looks kind of ugly -- it was originally all red, but now some of the color is scratched off. It still works perfectly though, so I've been trying to track down some more games for it recently.

While the switch is what REALLY got me into gaming enthusiast circles, getting a 3DS around 2015-2016 is what got me back into games in the first place. There are still plenty of 3DS releases that I missed. While I'm prioritizing finding physical copies, I may have to get a big haul from the eShop for the ones that are harder to find.

If my WiiU would get this NAND problem, even with backuped data I couldn't play on my WiiU anymore right? Because I really don't like playing on PC

I don't know if there's a way to fix it with a back up or not but in my book, having a backup especially of save data and game data versus simply not having it is very easy math to me :D

edit: but have you heard the good word about Pretendo? did you know that you could get Miiverse back?

let jon tell you about it, if you haven't:

I took out my original 3DS to potentially download some stuff on there (I also have a New 3DS XL) and I discovered that the battery is swollen.

Thankfully it looks like replacements are cheap and easy to get, but worth checking on.

Yeah. All of those old handhelds should probably have the batteries removed if they are being stored long term. Probably should check my layer cake one as well.

Yeah I should go check my wife's 3DS later tonight as well, not sure that has seen the light of day in some time.

I haven’t checked my OG 3DS but my old DS looked fine the last I saw it. Which is more than I can say for my PSP which went swole real quick.

Good price and you get the streetpass games exclusive to this. Not sure you could get any hits though.

I'm also holding for an Atlus sale. I would buy EOU2 and Devil Survivor 2.
