Discussion Man, am I the only one less hyped after the latest BotW2 trailer?

Ive never playrd a warriors game as they always looked boring to me…but i do like zelda. Would i get anything out of hyrule warriors? If so, which one should i play?

Warriors is fun! You should play Hyrule Warriors Definitive edition because you can play as Marin and Tingle, the two best Zelda characters.

Of course if you want some truly good Warriors action, stick to Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. It stars Shez and is much gayer than most Zelda games.

TOTK's marketing has been outright awful. Unless they're purposefully hiding a huge element of the game, like some MGS2-style twist, there really is no excuse.

We can all agree that it's literally impossible that the game launches with just the trailers we already have, right? I'm not expecting another trailer, but a Treehouse or some kind of long gameplay video is absolutely needed.

Edit: Treehouse with the announcement of the TotK OLED, that's my prediction.

I think Zelda will eventually get her own spinoff where she uses magic based on her emotional state BECAUSE NO GIRLZ ALLOWED

It’s clear they’re not marketing the game like you think they should because they need to give Animal Crossing New Horizons room to breath.

I think I’ve done this same joke for TOKT 5 times

yeah logically speaking there's no reason not to expect something else signficant

In the latest trailer they showed weapon and vehicle crafting, underground areas, etc and people are saying we didn't see anything significant that botw doesn't have? This is straight cap'ism lol. In each gameplay trailer they've showed a significant gameplay feature

How do you build them? What can you build? Where can you ride? How does it work? Why would I build a car over walking and climbing everywhere?
I don't think that the first main new feature (not area, feature) of the game should be showcased a few months before release in a way where it raises more questions

Weapon and vehicle crafting super kill my excitement tbh. Thats a yawn outta sleep from me.

Still salty that they didn't call it Breath of the Darkness. SMH my head.
Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see
$70 prices
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Amiibo my holding cell
OLED screen has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in the TOTK hype cycle

Why not? From a marketing perspective, it gets people talking/speculating.

At the end of the day, the game is going to get thorough reviews and literally millions of impressions from day one purchasers - why does it matter so much if they don’t show much of the game 3 months before release?

The first new feature of the game was shown years ago, in phasing through the ground and reversing time for an object's momentum.

I don't quite understand why you need to know exactly how every mechanic works 3 months before release when Nintendo always does heavier marketing for their titles in the month to release. You'll learn more, the point of this trailer is to be mysterious and get people to engage with theories and analysis.

Weapon crafting would be fun for me, but just like...augmenting them with elements or changing things like range/strength/bonus effects.

The Robot Wars vehicle crafting does not hype me at all. I appreciate that they've probably put a lot of work into the options available, but riding a horse and shooting a bow and arrow while you do it is already cool as hell. I'll give them flying vehicles being cool too. But driving a car sucks ass. "Explore a wide, mysterious fantasy world...in a big goofy car like a goober" is not the angle I look for from Zelda, and after Scarlet & Violet I'm sick of Nintendo's big ugly cars agenda.

If Zelda is playable it better be a kingdom management sim where I can implement an ultra low emissions zone policy and ban the car.

the car literally runs on green energy

This and the dad-game jokes are the only ones that make me laugh after 3 years

Can't believe the train from Spirit Tracks is getting Zelda cycled...

Oh actually that reminds me that my guess at the big twist is that there are bike hires available across Hyrule that Link can use, however their popularity in various areas will go up and down and civilians will leave them scattered everywhere, sometimes impeding movement by blocking pathways. You'll really feel immersed in a living, breathing, very annoying kingdom.

Okay. It's still ugly and makes Link look stupid as hell and I'd rather Hyrule had a robust public transit system in place. I hate green cars too. (y)

Maybe you can green-glue yourself to the three BotW dragons if they're still in the game, boom, public transit!

Literally a different game lmao

And this is the direct sequel.

For me, they don’t need to over explain months in advance about the overall experience because it’s going to be very similar but with bells and whistles bolted on.

Totally appreciate that everyone is different though and many people need to be shown everything and have a lot explained to them. It’s why trailers, in the main, show too much these days, to help people who need to know everything.

Personally, having played BotW, I know what to expect in the main and want them to keep the mystery about what is new. I think Nintendo feel that mystery is important too.

We need something like this

I wonder why FromSoftware showed off the gameplay when everyone could've trusted them like we are being told to trust here.

Elden Ring is quite something. I wish that the new Zelda would capture some of this epicness when fighting big enemies. The first few Lynels felt a bit like that. Hinox and Mr. Pile of Rocks ( I even forgot their names) were ridiculous from the start.
The first time I saw a dragon in the distance, I was super excited to the idea of fighting it, but alas it never really happens except for that Pilotwing section.

If Zelda is playable it better be a kingdom management sim where I can implement an ultra low emissions zone policy and ban the car.

You and me both. I am fortunate enough to not live in a country centered around cars and car infrastructures, I certanly don't want those in my fantasy epic.

the car literally runs on green energy

"green energy cars" are a scam from the car industry to stay relevant in a world where they should just disappear.

The speedrun meta is to go straight to Ganondorf and green glue him to a self-driving car then send him off the edge of the map.

You joke ... but unless he's somehow locked away until some point or only to meet in a special area ... this could happen!

Give Link a weaponised ZORB for traversal.

We are absolutely going to see "I strapped bombs to 50 self-driving cars and sent them into the final boss fight (REAL)" on YouTube within a month of release and it's either going to have a thumbnail of a guy going 😲 or a thumbnail of Elon Musk.

Honestly, such a video should have a thumbnail of Immortan Joe yelling "MEDIOCRE!".

Not really excited since the first trailer since ToTK is a BotW sequel, I kinda prefer not a sequel but I hope every one of my concerns turn out to be nothing to worry in the end.

I want to build a sonic style spinner out of two wheels on top of each other, then fling bokoblin after bokoblin at Ganon with their spiky horns acting like arrows.

The goop looks like it could have some neat uses, especially for puzzles, but if Nuts & Bolts style vehicle building is a large focus of the game it's going to be a bag fumble for the books. I'd like to think that they have a little more sense than that.

Some of you are super opposed to Link having a car but never think about situations where he might need to haul stuff like for example to help Sidon move in with him.

He can simply freeze Sidon's stuff with stasis then hit it repeatedly with a weapon so that it flies towards Link's house when it unfreezes. Practical, efficient, fun, probably safe or at least not super dangerous provided you warn the neighbours, but most of all fun.

So this is the big innovation of Tears of the Kingdom:

Is there a way to block that kind of videos? I hope so 😩

Only with a Zelda game could stuff like phasing through floors and reversing time be shown only for people to worry that vehicle-building is “the big new mechanic.”

The fact that none of the post-trailer marketing is mentioning anything about the vehicles kinda makes this "that's the big new mechanic!!!?!?" worry very odd to me. Instead they're teasing Zelda's sheikah slate, only for people to say "oh she dies at the beginning and will have no role in the game".

C'mon people.

C'mon yersel. I'm not worried about a video game and I'm certainly not saying vehicles are the only new thing being added. I just don't think they're exciting and I didn't find the trailer very interesting.

I'm sure the game will be fun and I'm also sure it will survive a little light ribbing and any skepticism.
