I kind of want to personally experience Black Friday in America. I heard things can get mental in the stores.
I’m glad online is helping to move away from it with longer deal periods and less people getting trampled. Got most of my shopping done yesterday and didn’t have to leave my house. Only need gifts for two people still.

To reproduce that situation, i can recommend going to a Punk or Metal concert and take part in the various crowd activities like Mosh Pits, Circle of Deaths or Wall of Doom/Death.

Alcohol is a necessity for family gatherings because I am stuck listening to my wife’s uncle proceed to call Elon Musk “Pope Elon” and tell us how Alex Jones was wronged by that lawsuit because it’s against the principle of the market dictating what ideas are acceptable…
Good lord

Even with alcohol I don't think I'd be barely able to handle that 😳

Frankly from what I've heard I think death metal concerts would be tamer

Surprisingly, Death Metal concerts are generally tamer than you'd expect. Though i haven't been at many of those, as Death Metal isn't really my ilk.

But Punk shows? Man ... maaaaaaaan. Especially when the majority of the audience has hit their alcohol-limit.

Who uses Famiboards at 4:00 AM EST in the morning?

Challenge: reply to this post at exactly 4:00 AM EST in the morning.

I'd probably look weird as soon as I began to try ordering food 🤣

Nah, we have to many different dialects here, there's situations where a german from bavaria wouldn't be able to talk to a german from the north, say ... Hamburg.

And no, i'm actually not kidding. This is seriously a thing.

So germans are used to weirdly speaking people!

Hey at least at punk concerts people try to help you up when you get knocked down instead of using your body to reach a higher shelf

To be fair some dialects in the UK can be near impenetrable to people from barely a hundred miles away too.

... Depends on what band is playing. I've witnessed a lot of different audiences. ^^

Totally believe that. Heck if you drive 30 minutes from where i am right now, the dialect is completely different. But thankfully it's still close enough to standard german (kinda like your oxford english) that one could still understand it.

Those silly Schwaben ...

1) Pokémon is, despite its faults, incredible
In my.. maybe 40-50 hours of play, I’ve had two hard crashes (made somewhat trivial by generous auto save)

Honestly the game is incredibly fun. Don’t let the bug compilations fool you, it’s not THAT busted.
This is delusional. 😂

This isn't me trying to rain on anyone's parade, but as a kid, I hated Pokémon and that hatred has honestly never abated.

I can't get myself to play a game of Pokémon, even though the games genuinely look like a step-up from the previous ones of my youth.

Here's my attempt at this...

1. This Year's Biggest Strike Is by 48,000 Academic Workers at the University of California (Labor Notes)

2. Could We See a Rail Strike? (Labor Notes)

3. I’m a HarperCollins author. Here’s why (and how) I won’t cross the virtual picket line. (Literary Hub)

4. How Undocumented Farmworkers Helped Flip the Legislature (Convergence)

5. Prince William County Employees Now Have Collective Bargaining Rights (DCist)

As you can see, they're all labor movement-related news. :)

True, though a lot of those are bands as terrible as the audience. Far right and punk do not belong in the same sentence. I went to rebellion festival like ten years ago, was an eye opener (I think it's got a little more discerning since then)

Woah woah woah, i didn't talk about far right bands/concerts. I would never listen to, let alone go to a concert of a far right band!

I was just saying that there's punk bands where the fans are more chill with everything and that there's bands where it's almost a mass brawl in the fan mass. ^^

I haven’t had any sleep. Been a rough night for my dog. He’s very confused and won’t stop pacing around the house. The vet opens in like an hour.

God bless oldschool EA games. We really need to get rid of all these launchers from third parties, it's ridiculous at this point.
Agreed, dragon age origins is easily a top ten game for me so getting it on the deck from the current steam sake was a priority for me. I’m gonna be busy for a couple of days and I’m taking my deck with me so knowing I can play this offline will be great

Just played the first hour or two of Pentiment, and that has to be one of the most excitingly unique games of the year. Can't wait to keep digging in.

Plague Tale: Requiem is solid but not blowing me away yet. I have the feeling I won't fully appreciate it as a GOTY nominee.
Nate on the spawn cast sold me on Pentiment so I plan to check it out. It’s supposed to be good on the deck but I’m not playing it yet.n I have a short list of games I’m wanting to play right now that my hand is back in action

Sorry didn't mean to imply you did, just saying most actual punks are pretty considerate even in the middle of rough pit

Why are trapdoor spiders so cool

Actually why are spiders so cool in general
I had the idea last night to genetically cross-breed spiders and turkeys so that each turkey would have 8 turkey legs and I wouldn't have to fight with my cousin over who gets a turkey leg like I do every year.

Yeeesh, i am glad you didn't graduate in biogenetics.

Okay so I'm imagining a big, feathery tarantula with bird feet at the end of its eight legs. Would it still have a chitinous exterior? Imagine biting down on that crunchy spider exterior, then have your tongue greeted with the delectable flesh of turkey. I think it could work!

As am I, I do not care for spiders.

See, this will always end up like in Eight Legged Freaks.

You know, lobsters and crabs do exist

I can relate. My brother-in-law is all about Q, believes that the democrats are leading the country into spiritual warfare against Christians, and he claims to have some Ellie Last of Us-style immunity to COVID. Thankfully my mother-in-law always has whiskey somewhere.

See, that is the advantage of celebrating at your own home, you can just not invite the ones you don't like! Although we germans don't celebrate thanksgiving like you US folks do, but it applies for christmas!

You can actually have a good time with the family if the only annoyance is your grandfather who can't hear shit anymore, but refuses to wear his hearing aids because he argues his hearing is "perfect".

Pentiment is very slow and very simple, to the point that it's one of the few games I'd actually recommend multitasking with some other media.

I’m usually not this petty and like supporting my FLGS’s but I’m sorry I can’t swallow a $30 upcharge on a kit right now. Especially when it a kit im doing on a whim to try a line and they’re on my way home tomorrow. And it’s almost enough to grab rg God!

I am a little late, but I hope everyone who celebrates had a Happy Thanksgiving and to those who don't I hope their day was awesome!

I can back that perspective up

while it's thoroughly jank all over it's very playable. sort of like a used car that may be absolutely covered in scratches and dents but mostly drives fine
As a proud driver of old shit™, you're speaking my language.

i once sold a pickup to a friend who was so happy to have it and enjoyed driving it, but his wife literally refused to ride in it with him because some clear coat was peeling on the roof and hood and she was therefore embarrassed to be seen in it. There are definitely different perspectives on what is and is not an acceptable level of polish. 🤷‍♂️
