Hi everyone I'm in charge of stage design for Splatoon 3 and looking for input, how do you like this rework of Manta Maria?

Screw you! Lol. You legit made me go OH GOD NO! I thought it was a leak at first. I liked this map alot.

the turf war where I got 19 kills with a charger on mahi was awesome but really, really made me want the maps to be changed

I'm tired of every good run being because of a bad map, y'know

Don't be silly. If it was real, they'd also have scrapped the walkway through the middle.

Sarcasm aside, the maps from 2 that have reappeared are basically untouched, it's only the Splatoon 1 maps that have had significant rehauls in their 3 appearances so far.

Closest I've come to catching Splatoon 3 in a straight-up lie:

Salmon Run, second wave, glowflies. First wave trickles in but in weirdly small numbers. They get dispatched, no eggs appear. Then nothing happens for the next 30 seconds. Except all four players still follow each other around, squidbag in sync, waste specials in a show of protest and respond to my booyahs and over heres. Finally the game kicks everyone at once, tells me the connection was unstable and docks me 10 points.

Yeah, I don't think our internet was at fault here, game. You're just trying to cover up your own screw-up!

What is the logistic of this, you'll need to take care of your s+ and x rank each season 😮‍💨
Or you can transform your S+ in X by participating and get back to it if you get the boot ...

isn't x rank permanent? iirc in 2 you just had to hit s+ once

Pretty sure it wasnt. i havn't played Splatoon 2 since the Order vs Chaos splatfest, but I specifically remember uploading a video and pointing out that I was not playing a X rank tower control match because I hadn't played in awhile and lost the X rank for that mode.

thanks for the corrections gamers

my shitty lil scrub ass is never reaching those heights anyway

That's not quite how X rank worked in 2.

Essentially you were in X rank forever unless you got (1) curbstomped hard, and your average power level dropped somewhere below something around1900, and you kept losing or (2) your power level at the end of a month was low in which case you got demoted too.

Functionally it was permanent though, unless you shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Edit;Pillfencer already explained all this, whoops. One day I'll learn to read.

That doesnt contradict what i stated. I probaly was a low power level when I went on break and was demoted by the time i got back. The point of my post was that X rank was not permanent.

It's unacceptable that Tenta Missiles have gone this far without a nerf.
They technically did...a whooping TEN points increase!

...to be fair a higher points increase and the meter only resetting after the last tena missile would go a long way of stopping that special from being so spammable.

I think the devs just need to make the points more expensive and be more stingy on what future weapons get them. Before I knew of Reef's existence I thought gootbuer and flingza being the only missile users was smart to do by the devs. With Reef and the painting power of the other two, its too much.

the only charger I've never gotten to smokin/fresh is the goo tuber, which is probably my third or fourth most played weapon

What's even more unacceptable is that the game allows more than one Tenta Missles user on the same team in ranked

Gotta stop the tower from getting any closer? Hang on, just gotta dodge two volleys of missiles in a row before I can do anything at all, oh, and also a killer wail

I'd rather have seen Lost Outpost or Ark Polaris return, but more maps for SR is definitely appreciated

While Ruins of Ark Polaris would have been most suitable to the game given the storymode theme to the point where I'm almost surprised it wasn't in the base game, and it's my favourite map, at the same time, I'd dread to think how it would go actually being played with the effect the ability to throw eggs has had on the collective brainpower of the splatoon userbase.

There would be practically no chance people actually sit at the basket and allow the enemies that approach to get within a reasonable distance of the basket and it would be failures as far as the eye can see because you just can't get people to learn.

On the other hand, throwing eggs up a level saves time going up and down the map. The fun outweighs the possible problems though, riding the rails is just too much fun, especially on high tide when everything is flooded by salmons.

This is often the problem. Randoms just throw eggs a little closer and then go back to shooting infinitely spawning mobs at the shore, and then the flying things just come in and take the eggs. The actual design of Ark Polaris means that tossing them actually would save minimal time. You'd think it would save time but it would be hugely worse than having just let the salmonids get nearer the basket to begin with, which is a problem we already have in game.

Not requiring the players to routinely return to the basket to subtly remind them to progress towards the actual goal feels like a mistake that would have been hard to predict, at least.

I... I like the Bay map... I think the lift always makes for funny shenanigans. It should be less tricky with throwing too

Matchmaking found a new way to troll me.

Got Pokemon Scarlet delivery in my hand, but Splatoon is still running and I'm one loss away from flunking out of a Series. Decide to play that one more match so I can end cleanly. Game proceeds to give me the best team I've had in months. At one point we stalled patiently after respawn, to avoid staggering, and pushed in all at once with specials to retake the zone 1 second before the other side would have taken the lead. I nearly cried. Ended up having to play the whole five matches before I finally get to pokemoning.

Similar story to the (probably) unintended consequences of the big shot cannon. Everytime a run fails because of people getting stuck on shore and not checking the egg counter to realize it's not actually going up, and then in the end screen Mr. Grizz offers helpful advice for the next time on how you can use the big shot cannon to shoot eggs towards the basket, I wonder whether the developers aren't secretly evil geniuses who predicted this behaviour.

If I could tell Salmon Runners one thing it'd be "Everytime you're tempted to throw the egg, toss a bomb instead." Surely, you'll find some mobs in the near vicinity to blow up. Same amount of ink and, unless the surrounding area is in pristine untouched condition, saves you a similar amount of time, too, from not having to clear up those enemies so they're not in the way of the next egg run.

You can tell a lot about a Splatoon player by how they feel about the maps.

Do they hate the new maps and want the old maps from the previous games? They play PvP.

Do they hate the old maps and only want to play on the new ones? They play Salmon Run.

I like all the maps and play both Salmon Run and PVP. Get on my level.

I wonder if the game's icon on the home menu will change when Season 2 arrives, like other games do it 🤔

With 3 inklings/octolings showcasing the new weapons like in the trailer thumbnail

I think there needs to be a drastic global measure against special spam. We've seen it countless times, the meta just keeps gravitating towards spamming the strongest specials available right now. This is a screenshot of Area Cup (high level JP tournament).

My suggestion would be to make it so that every time you use a special, the next one becomes 5p more expensive. Makes it so your average 4 specials a game person isn't affected too much but those 16 missiles in 5 minutes players will struggle to get their later ones. Also forces you to be a little more strategic about using specials.

Splash-o-matic main after spending more time in special than with the Splash-o-matic out: "I'm a Crab Tank main."

I wasn't a believer in the dab in the beginning but now there is no greater feeling in Splatoon than winning a decisive match and celebrating with 4 consecutive dabs

Card Shark supremacy. It's only happened once but having four people send the losing team to the shadow realm is the true victory.

Marooner's Bay is back.

I guess they're just gonna go through old SR material chronologically. They're doing the same with the Grizzco weapons, bringing back GC Blaster and now GC Brella today.

MB is fine I guess, I mean I hated it in 2 but I could see a lot of its problems being mitigated a bit by egg-throwing. Unfortunately this means at least 6 months until we get back the first truly great SR map, Salmonid Smokeyard.

Lots and lots and lots of communication errors tonight, I even got banned for 10 minutes 😑
The big December patch/update can't come soon enough, I'm praying it fixes these issues cause they're really starting to get on my nerves.

Anyway, I'm glad people recognize Salmonid Smokeyard as the greatest Salmon Run map 👌🏻🤩

Has anyone seen, read about or encountered a bug where your Grizzco gear gets changed/reseted/swapped?

I already had the 3 Grizzco headgears with the stars and abilities I wanted. And today while I was was exchanging capsules, I realized in the comparison screen that the Brain Strainer I owned was back to 1 sub and a different main. I thought that I mistakenly swapped it in a previous shift, but then it was the same for the cap and the visor (different main, back to 1 sub). I know I did not swap the 3 pieces by accident cause I always pay attention to the rewards I get and compare them, and 99.99% of the time I just use the A button, so the chances of exchanging them all 3 of them is almost null.

It's a shame cause I really got lucky with the 3 gears :(

goo tuber is my second most used weapon after squiffer by turf and I still haven't ever gotten it to fresh

it's definitely my worst charger
It's a weird one to play with for sure. The kit is really exciting if you ask me, but the weapon itself I can imagine takes a lot of time to get used to.

Also, you excited for the new charger?
