Discussion Black Friday/Holiday Sales and Deals Thread: Help Your Fami Grow Their Backlog (Eshop Sales Up)

It's that time of year for everyone to enjoy time with family and loved ones buy games that they won't ever play. But you know what helps us grow our backlogs? Saving some money on games so we have more money to spend on more games to not play. After Rusty's brutal demise at the hands of Famiboards staff, I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can post sales and deals and have a place where we can help others find the games they are looking for at the lowest prices. Feel free to post whatever deals you find or post games you are looking to buy. So let's kick things off with Nintendo's official Black Friday deal:

Starting on November 20, you can get:

Nintendo Switch with Neon Joy Cons + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + 3 months of Nintendo Switch Online - $300

$20 off:
Mario Party Superstars
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Animal Crossing New Horizons
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Fire Emblem Three Hopes
Bravely Default II

33% off:
WarioWare: Get It Together
Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain

$40 off:
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

Thanks for this thread! Good call. From that particular offering, I don't think there's anything I'm planning on picking up, but I'm hoping at least a couple Switch or PlayStation game deals end up catching my eye this year.

Thanks @HockeyBird. Was planning on making one this weekend if it hadn’t gotten started. I will help by contributing Wario and CAG tweets since that is basically how we figure out the deals anyway.

Best Buy 2 is doing a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale on Select games

Seems the select titles are pretty limited but some games on offer are:

-Gotham Knights
-Valkyrie Elysium
-Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
-Soul Hackers 2
-13 Sentinels (Switch)
-Digimon Survive
-Stranger of Paradise
-Gran Turismo 7
-Horizon: Forbidden West

There are some other titles too but I thought those would be the ones people were most interested in. A lot of other games are getting straight discounts such as:

-Breath of the Wild - $40
-Pokemon Legends: Arceus - $47
-Scarlet Nexus - $24
-Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - $40
-Elden Ring - $53
-Mario Odyssey - $52

For a lot of the Switch games, you can't see the prices until you add them into the cart but it's worth taking a look

Saw SSHD for $30 at target today on an early BF sale

Wario Ware will be one of the few things I’m willing to buy from Black Friday this year,

@Imitatio odds of seeing God of war on steam a good sale this holiday? That’s the another one of the few games I’m willing to buy for the holidays for myself

Not specifically holiday, but a good deal usually. And Amazon often adds this as well (though you have to time it to when things might be available as Amazon adds them through the week so sometimes stuff drops off).

Usually first party Nintendo isn’t added but every now and then they put them up. Also word of warning, they will usually raise prices to MSRP. So things like kingdom battle goes from $15 to $60 for these.

I think expecting it to go on sale (20-30% off, is what I would assume) is reasonable for sure.

I see P5R, Automata, and Cowabunga in that. That’s numberwang!
Waiting for that Amazon price match as I have a some credit there. It also help never having a PS4, since I can probably get some lower priced games in these as well. Will definitely post the links if Amazon matches.

Thanks for the thread, will keep an eye on some of these!

Is there a way to easily tell which of these are international vs US-only? I assume all the Best Buy and Target ones are US-only and the Nintendo ones aren't region-specific? I just don't want to get excited for a deal and then realize it doesn't apply to me.

Do y'all think tunic will be on sale? Played it on Xbox but indies on switch >>>

I think it will probably be on sale sometime before the end of the year. It might not be part of the Black Friday sale so it's best to just check the eShop every Thursday.

Alternately creating a wishlist on Deku Deals is a great way to just have them tell you when it's on sale. 😃

I see I missed Stranger of Paradise PS5 for $25 😒

That’s the only game I’m looking for this BF

Keeping my eye on the Target B2G1. Hopefully a few first party games "slip through" ;)

Unfortunately, looks like Target is running a tight ship this year. Doesn't seem like any first party games are available and the only significant pre-order I see people getting is Resident Evil 4.

Well now the only game I’m keeping an eye out for is liva a Live physically. Tho if
Costco does the bigger Eshop card discount again this year I’ll probably bite

Had my first "Black Friday" pick up with the Xbox controller sale at Target. $38 blue controller is mine!

Amazon match

Not very many totes now but will come. Usually Tuesday is when they have most things there.

Amazon very slowly adding in games to the the B2G1 sale. Nothing too amazing so far but Elden Ring, Persona 5 Royal (PS5), Digimon Survive, and Arkham Knights are up now.

man, I'm hoping for more and actually more that haven't been revealed yet, along with wanting for some of the big cuts that we had last year for Black Friday to come again.

If any of the Xenoblade series could get those cuts that'd be a total steal.

Maybe the Final Fantasy 7 and 8 twin pack as well :d

Weird. The Amazon promotion is seemingly dead. Must be a backend error or something as it shows there are 500 titles or so available but just says the deal is not available right now

Amazon brought back the 3 for 2 promotion that randomly went dead.

I myself picked up Eldin Ring for PS5, cowabunga collection, and Nier Automota on switch. Figure those probably aren’t going to get below the $25/$40 on the sales front for a while

Gamestop's early Black Friday sales as started. Sonic Frontier's is only $40 on Switch and Playstation

So for fellow anime fans, RSA’s weekly deals is Discotek published stuff up to 40% off. Their actual BF deal week/daily deals start next sunday tho, but a lot of this stuff could go out of stock and isn’t guaranteed a better deal

True Colors sounds a lot different than I'd imagined.

Ugh, why can't I just add an item and order it? Gamestop is only giving in-store pickup or same day delivery and no local stores have the item, but I can't just order it have them ship it from wherever.

Wasn't planning on getting Digimon Survive so soon (if ever) but $17 is too crazy to pass up, and $30 for P5R is nice too. A bit bummed I missed out on Nier Automata and Skyward Sword being $30 each, but I'm sure that'll happen again eventually.

Is there any hope of a deal better than Dell's for the Switch OLED? (If you can't click the link, it's $350 but includes a $75 Dell gift card that I'd probably use for a Pro Controller.) Or should I just pull the trigger now?
