Just airing some general opinions:

Anyone else think that the first Ironman is still the best (standalone hero) film in the MCU? I think a few other movies have come close, but the "fuck yeah!" moments of IM1 still stick in my mind. I feel like these days, I watch each successive MCU film with the thought, "Will this one be as good as IM1?" Even though I've only watched the movie 2-3 times, the moment where Tony fucks up all the terrorists holding the hostages with his mini rockets and the scene where he punches through the wall and gives the leader to be dealt with by the people is so perfect.
Iron Man 1 set a high bar for sure, but imo Winter Soldier surpassed it. It managed to be a well-laid-out action thriller with fantastic stunts that wasn't really beholden to any other movies, even though it was a sequel and was part of a crossover-heavy franchise. As far as standalones go, I think it's one of the MCU's best, if not the best full stop.
Take my opinion with a grain of salt though, as I love Age of Ultron and genuinely don't get all the fuss over the Guardians. So it's possible my taste is garbage, I dunno

Yeah I've seen that sentiment. I just think IM1 is cooler because I inherently I like Tony/IM as a character more than Cap.

With regards to GoG, I agree. I place those movies in the same basket with the Antman movies. I don't think the humor is funny and the story telling is too literal for me. Especially the second Antman movie, it's like a video games plot where the characters are saying exactly why and what they're doing. They're just a little too on the nose for me. Like Starlord's "motivational" speech towards the end of Gog1 where he tells them they have to team up because they just have to or whatever. They're fine movies, just too...literal. Especially the Gog cast, which I get that they're aliens, but Kevin Bacon and everyone's robot-stonefaced reactions aren't funny past the first time.

Again, here's my favorite scene in the MCU. The payoff from the beginning. Revenge. Just three words from Tony and not a single quip. Just pure superhero badassery.

So that Reddit post was an absolute lie lol

The more time that passes, yeah.

It was a movie that truly relied on Tony Stark and the immediate people around him. Obviously, Rhody was an important character but Tony was the hero and they built the movie around him. There are not a whole lot of MCU movies with that strong of a focus, and not a whole lot of solo MCU movies that are as good.

Iron Man 3. As someone only saw this just before Shang Chi, this film was not good. Like kinda terrible.

I dunno how many viewings of the Wakanda Forever trailer it took for me to realize that was Riri Williams cutting a heart shape out of metal.

I think its interesting that Guardians Vol 3 seems to be hitting similar plot points and characters to the Eidos game (High Evolutionary/Church of Universal Truth. Cosmo, Warlock/Magus)

Big disappoint

I expect this to be huge in the underground bootleg VHS market in a few years

  • Okay Wong and Madisynn are my new favorite MCU duo

See with this show and Ms Marvel and WandaVision I keep having the same issue. The shows are super interesting to me when it's just the characters being the characters, but when they have the moment where the show goes "oh right, we're Marvel so we need an action scene," they lose me. Which I guess is a good problem to have, that I really like these character-focused shows to the point where I don't care about action. 😅

Anyway BRING BACK TITANIA FOR REAL NEXT WEEK YOU COWARDS

So I finally watched Thor Love and Thunder

I love Ragnarok, so this was a bit of a let down. If there will be a Thor 5 (or an appearance in a future Avengers movie, which seems likely), please, make sure it´s not Jane. Not hating on Portman, I love her in several movies, but jeez she has no business in these Thor movies. I don't feel aby chemistry between her and Hemsworth.

My thoughts

- Love and Thunder kind of reached Ant-Man and the Wasp status for me; I mean, it's not bad, but it just exists.
  • As mentioned, I don't care for Jane in the movies. Portman phones it in. There a few glimmers of what she could have been, "EAT MY HAMMER", for example, but overall it's not working for these movies.
  • Chris Hemsworth is still fun though. He clearly loves the character. I know the title card said Thor will return, Chris and Taika will deny stuff, but I am pretty sure Chris will lift up Mjolnir again to support a new team of Avengers. Maybe a team up with Banner.
  • Tessa seemed a bit bored; still I love her to bits.
  • Man, Bale was wasted. I really liked his take on Gorr, but apart from a few menacing moments I feel the character didn't have a lot of time to shine. I wanted to see more psychotic moments of the God Butcher going ham.
  • The movie also felt uneven and somehow badly structured. Can't put my finger on it.
  • Call me a simpleton, but screaming goats make me laugh. Draxx loving them made me chuckle.
  • Crowe as Zeus was hilarious though.
  • Love and Thunder is sweet. Dad Thor gives me fuzzy feelings.
  • Hercules!?!?!
  • Jane in Valhalla is pretty cool en seeing a Heimdal for a brief moment was fun.

Fairly disappointing D23 panel. Felt more like a part 2 to SDCC than it’s own thing.

Really excited for Secret Invasion and New World Order though. Thunderbolts lineup is also pretty interesting, looks like it’ll be a direct sequel to FATWS and Black Widow more than anything. Makes me wonder if Bucky will show up in New World Order.

Werewolf by night looks wild, I mean it’s bringing in Man-Thing! During phase multiverse! I totally expect him to pop up in Season 2 of Loki now. Also looks like this is a Bloodstone joint which basically confirms Elsa. Ulysses is such a sick bastard

I heard there's a new Wakanda Forever trailer!

But I'm not in a position to watch video right now

Can someone tell me if they finally revealed who the new Black Panther is or not? 😅

Honestly, Phase 4 been kinda mid, for me, overall, besides a few standouts like Shang Chi, What If...? and Wandavision. But this? This I'm definitely taking my fam to see Thursday night!

Not in full.

But it's safe to assume it's Shuri.

boo, I was hoping it would be Nakia.

I dunno, I just feel weird about Shuri now because of the drama surrounding Letitia Wright and the anti-vax crap. I know she wrote this whole thing about how "I was just asking questions about what we're putting in our bodies" but that video she shared also had the typical redhat cocktail of sinophobia, climate change denial, and transphobia so like.. best case scenario was she didn't know what she was sharing, which is still bad enough when you consider she dug her heels in and defended it after the fact.

And then there's the reports from the set that she continued pushing anti-vax crap once filming resumed (which she said was a lie, but of course anyone would). So it's like, here's this absolute genius young scientist being played by a literal science denier.

Damn, RDJ and Chris Evans spoiled the shit outta me.

Guess I gotta do like I do with Tom Cruise and try real hard to separate the beliefs of the actor from the overall work they do. 😒

Anyway fuck yeah Atlanteans

And while I'm definitely right there with wishing it would be Nakia, as well (because it makes sense, considering her arc from the previous movie!), I'm willing to accept Shuri, if that is indeed her, for the time being, for two reasons.

For one, I'm hoping that she's had some semblance of growth since the incident, as I do believe that people are capable of growth and becoming better people, whether I get to hear about it, or not. It took 'til the wake of Coolio's passing for me to find out that he and Weird Al had long since settled differences on "Amish Paradise". So lots of things are possible! And between her, Nakia, Okoye and Riri, it looks like black girls are going to feast any way.

For two, it's very likely that by the time Secret Wars (which Coogler may also be in the running to direct~) happens, Shuri may have reason to give up the mantle, anyway. There's always the possibility that another T'Challa, his future son, or someone else claims it, and the beat goes on.

Just watched Thor: Love and Thunder. While some bits felt a bit mismatched (I thought both Gor and Jane’s own stories didn’t quite get enough room to breathe, even though Gor’s origin scene was cool), I still really enjoyed it. The bit with
the kids being empowered temporarily by Thor, and particularly the one mowing down shadow monsters with a laser beam from a teddy bear had a ton of heart

I don’t know, not the best of them, but far from the worst, and the lighthearted, irreverent space adventure tone is still a good fit for both such a powerful character and also Hemsworth whose comic timing is just endlessly watchable. Tessa Thompson was great too. I’m kinda done with Korg though.

I laregely agree with what you’re saying. Love and Thunder isn’t a great Marvel movie by any means, but it certainly isn’t the worst. Personally, I think the humor in Thor movies is wearing a bit thin. There weren’t a ton of jokes that landed for me. But I did really appreciate Gor’s story, and would have loved to see his character fleshed out more. The end of his story in particular hit me really hard, it actually made me cry. Which no other MCU movie has been able to do!

I also really liked basically every action scene, especially the one with the kids. That was cool.

All in all, a solid C+ I’d say.

Why ??,just cast another guy and pretend its the same character, maybe even with a joke like "you looking kind of different"

I have a feeling that, while Shuri will be Black Panther starting in the second third of the film probably, Shuri, Nakia, Okoye and M'baku will all wear a Black Panther suit for the climax. Feel like this would be a good homage to Chadwick, having them all wearing his legacy. And I've read that Danai Gurira has said that she hasn't read anyone online "guess the whole of it" when it comes to who is Black Panther in the film lol, so I'm fully behind this theory.

And I don't know who will be Black Panther in the future of the MCU but I don't see Shuri being it, and I especially don't see Letitia Wright having the dramatic chops to play such an important character of the MCU. Not to mention that I feel Disney and Feige wouldn't feel too confortable to keep her around as a major Avengers with her anti-vax agenda that made the news for months. I say that but they still keep around the likes of Jeremy Renner so who knows lol... But mostly, when you have fucking Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke on one side, and Letitia Wright on the other as potential new Black Panther, would they really chose the anti-vax and less talented actor ? Honestly my money is still on M'Baku, even if it doesn't make sense for him to be the Black Panther because of his tribe. But I don't see anyone but him in Wakanda having what it takes to be Black Panther and the King. At the very least I think he'll be the ruler of Wakanda.

So sad She-Hulk is ending next week. It's been such an enjoyable show to keep up with!

Her colleagues/friends are my fav sidekicks of any hero yet.

Ep 8 thoughts:
GIVE JEN A BREAK MAN, she doesn't deserve any of this happening to her. :(

also I really loved the banter between her and daredevil, they played off eachother really well!

I'm really bothered by my inability to identify Leap Frog's car. I'm usually really good at that. 😟

Edit: based on the shapes of the windshield frame, the door, and the window, I think it might be an ND Miata? It has like a Daytona-style kammback but then like a Porsche front end but with a sharper grille? So I spent like 45 minutes looking up kit cars based on Miatas, widebody coupe kits for Miatas, kammback kit cars, and nothing comes close. The seats appear to be aftermarket with Corbeau harnesses so no luck narrowing it down that way, and what really trips me out is there's some sort of logo on the seats and the wheels (which you can see when Jen stops the car dead in its tracks for a second), and that logo is.. the letter Z. But it's definitely not a custom Z (because Z's are way bigger and the door/window/windshield shapes are radically different. And if you try to google "Z kit car," what do you get? The Nissan Z. Which.. isn't helpful.

Yall my head hurts

Werewolf by night is awesome. 55 minutes, doesn't overstay its welcome, practical effects, and a fun watch.

Would recommend highly over just about anything else phase 4.

Any opportunity to see Matt Murdoch in the MCU is a blessing.

I liked the episode. Loved seeing DD again. Did not love how they teased an epic hallway fight (obvious callback to Netflix DD season one’s legendary hallway fight), only to spoil it when Jen came crashing through the ceiling. I knew it was gonna happen and I still groaned out loud.

I didn't know it was gonna happen and I lol'ed

Plus since we know Murdoch's getting his own MCU series, they'll save the big one-shot fight scenes for that, no doubt.

I expected it because this isn’t a DD show, it’s She-Hulk, and they can’t have DD outshine the main character in her own show.

Yeah that makes sense.
I was actually pretty surprised to see them write DD in a way that matched the lighthearted goofiness of She-Hulk's show.

Watched the final episode of She-Hulk and WOW is all I can say.. just WOW LMAO

This is easily my favorite Marvel tv series yet! Loved Jen and her posse! So sad it's over!!
