StarTopic Anime |ST| Is Captain Falcon more anime than Fire Emblem?

I watched the prologue and Ep 1 of Gundam Witch from Mercury. Don't watch much anime nowadays but something about this caught my attention (maybe the full MSG prefix) and I signed up for a Crunchyroll trial. Wow, I really enjoyed it! The prologue I actually found really moving and a great setup. So much interesting detail the series will likely callback to. Then the episode proper had a great story. I didn't really like the super-nervous heroine thing, feel like that's been done that too many times. But the duel and the "I guess they're really conservative on Mercury" line was done so well imo. After seeing so much downer TV lately (HotD, Dahmer), this really picked me up!

Really enjoyed the first episode of Gundam, not entirely sure what direction the story will go but with the Code Geass writer we are surely in for a ride.

Akiba Maid War 1
What the heck did I just watch…. Did not expect something so bizarre and over the top Maid Cafe mafia shoot down to bizarre maid music. I just thought they meant like a corporate war XD . that's so wildly ridiculous I'm in. Ranko is badass

It make Lycoris Recoil’s pre launch advertising seem truthful in the bizarreness of the truth

Reincarnated as a sword 1
And so the adventures of Fran and Teacher begin. Also that was definitely the better way to translate the latters name, some people were worried XD. I had fun

The wota dance in akiba Maid war killed me.

THIS IS THE DANCE OF MY PEOPLE

I liked the farmer anime (forgot the name is really long), the protag is really focused in being the best goddamn farmer and has the skills to prove it. Laughed when the bad guy ask what he did and he explains in farmer terms the attack (now you know why farmer is the best class in EO3)

Just call it what it is: “The suffering of Al-kun who only wanted to farm”

Didn’t realize this one is so close(Jan). It’s a really fun and gay(yuri) one
Totally recommend

Sadly there wasn't any farming in the second episode :(

Also watched ep 2 of Gundam, was a nice setup for everything that will come, still on thought with the theory that

there's a big time skip based on how old the president is in relation with the prologue, and Sulleta and Ericth are not the same people (based also that the register code for Aerial is not the same of the robot in the prologue). Unless of course they throw something like "spacians age faster"

Exec 1: "Do you have any idea why piracy is still prevailing in LATAM?"
Exec 2: "Not really. We have tried nothing and we are out of ideas!.... I KNOW, what if we don't stream Bleach there even thouhg the show already have subs in spanish and portuguese. THAT WILL HELP"

I enjoyed watching some anime tonight. Was trying to coordinate watching Mob with someone, but couldn’t wait anymore. First two episodes were a lot of fun and it’s cool seeing Mob become more independent. The small tease of things to come with Dimple is exciting too.

I also checked out Bocchi the Rock which I really enjoyed! The main character wants to join a rock band, but was too shy and missed out in all of middle school. She kept practicing guitar alone and now in high school she is trying again. I love the main character already and the comedy was great. Definitely want to watch this one!

Bocchi the Rock was so good! Very endearing mc, it made me lol more than once.

The DIY anime is also super comfy, with a different type of art style I'm used to for series that focus on a group of girls doing some sort of activity.

Gundam, Chainsaw and Mob are really solid too!

(I also recently started Utena anime because I read the new Gundam kind of got compared to it + its a classic so yeah)

Going to add this to my list, thanks.

I finished watching the first ep of I'm the Villainess just now. Amazing opening. I feel like I'm getting back into anime at a really good moment.

Reincarnated as a sword is off to a fun start, Fran shows no mercy and has more of a combat instinct than Joesph Joestar
DIY has been cute. My master has no tail has been an interesting one with Rakugo as a plot vehicle. Raven of the Inner Palace is a surprise slip onto my list show this season, dark but intriguing.
Urusei Yatsura drops a bit before noon pacific today so hype for that! The Little Lies we all tell drops this weekend.
Going to add this to my list, thanks.

This has been a fave my season. Solid adaption and Aileen is delightfully aggressive
Also the anime hasn’t been as clear on her dad so here’s some clarification for anime onlys:
Her dad is a complete sadist who revels in her suffering, and he was planning to kick her out of the family if she failed if it wasn’t clear enough. It’s why she was so stoic with the prince, she couldn’t emote around her dad

Watched the first 2 episodes of eminence in shadow, and well that really changed from ep1 to 2. Still funny how he actually decided to became and edgelord but a lot of the time he's just winging it

I like how in Akiba Maid Wars they stablish that being a maid is one of the shadiest works

Utena is indeed amazing and one of the classics, hope you enjoy!

I want to check out the new Gundam show myself eventually, but I just can’t see it matching the surrealism, style, or feminism that Utena did for me. Nor does it need to, to be clear. Utena comparisons are just a very high bar for me personally.

I didn't intend to watch Bibliophile Princess but since dinner with some friends was cancelled yesterday I had some free time and watched the firts episodes and this cover my quota of "mexican telenovela anime"

Episode 2 was:
"NO TE CASES CON LA MALDITA BIBLIOFILA"

It's more that the general trappings of the setting and the plot of the pilot is Utena-esque. The head writer also used to work on Utena. By episode 2 it's already becoming its own thing.

I wrapped up Love Live Superstar Season 2 yesterday and checked out Chainsaw Man. For the former, I definitely liked the first season more with the tighter cast. The new characters here didn’t end up making too strong an impression outside of Mei who I liked and Natsumi who I didn’t care for (I didn’t like her obsession with money). I think my favorite episode was the one where Ren got addicted to video games because it was amusingly absurd in execution and had a good ending. The ending of the season was interesting and actually had me believing Kanon would end up leaving the group as they saved the just kidding until the last possible second. She’s my favorite character so I’m glad she is staying, but this is definitely going to be even weirder with distance and as we further approach season 3. I’m both very intrigued and worried about Season 3 as a result, but that’s an issue for later lol. I did appreciate it really explored where it went, because I think that the characters made the decision they did mattered to them and will be important in the future. My biggest complaint of the season though is definitely the lack of putting the songs on US itunes. It’s super weird we don’t even have the new Nijigasaki songs from months ago either. I hope Love Live didn’t abandon us entirely, but it doesn’t look good :/

As for Chainsaw Man, I know this is one of the most hyped shows of the season, but I’m worried it’s not for me. There’s a handful of media I enjoy that’s very violent (Gears of War for example), but I’m still not really a big fan of gross, over the top violence. In this episode the main character mostly killed zombies which was ok-ish for me (but now that I think about it, probably gave me a Resident Evil-like nightmare last night lol), but there was some other stuff too that was a bit too gross for me like Denji being cut up in the garbage. I’ve seen some out of context manga panels for Chainsaw Man which also has me hesitant, but I want to at least give it a shot. The characters and style seem interesting, so I’ll give this another episode or two. But yeah, my least favorite premiere so far.

Oh the ending of the 3rd chapter of gundam was certainly not expected. Now the are making angry another group of people on twitter

I guess this counts as we don't have a manga / light novel thread, but got the final volume of I'm in love with the villainess and never saw coming the twist, they certainly explained the isekai concept.

Akiba Maid Wars keep winning. How the small cafe keep taking out the bigger ones is hillarious

DQ Dai 100-end
Pretty perfect ending, that twist made that character’s whole arc even more wild and intimidating. Been a wild ride. Also Avan with that classic DQ king mustache XD . Just a perfect adaption

Look forward coming back to this crew when the game releases. Really hope that turns out solid

Akiba maid war 3
The wild ride continues with boxing. This bizarre gangster maid show just isn’t calming down. Manager looks better with the eyepatch

not a lot of people know this, but I love anime

been watching some osomatsu-san recently and affirmed that it's absolutely far and away my favorite

Been thoroughly enjoying this season of anime. I don't remember the last time I was watching and largely keeping up with six, maybe seven simulcasts, but I'm just really enjoying everything I'm watching. Currently it's:

Pop Team Epic Season 2
Mob Pyscho 100 Season 3
Spy X Family Part 2
Gundam The Witch From Mercury
Bocchi The Rock
My Hero Academia Season 6
Chainsaw Man (maybe, only seen episode 1 still so far)

I'm even finding time and enthusiasm to work on my backlog a bit here and there.

I plan to watch Vinland Saga and the Shenmue anime.

Anything else I should add to the list?

Magic Knight Rayearth, Demon Girl Next Door, Ya Boy Kongming, and Vampire Dies in No time. Off the top of my head

Oh and New Getter Robo and Shin Mazinger Z the impact

The Pop Team Epic Season 2 ending song reverberates in my head after I see a new episode. I want to link it, but it’s best seen in context lol. Episode 4 was definitely weaker than the first three, but some fun stuff nonetheless. The Train Battle segment was amusingly bizarre.

Also watched episode 3 of Bocchi the Rock tonight. Bocchi is a lovable disaster lol. Really enjoyed all the wacky animation this week.

I just watched episode 33 of Utena, and I'm NOT okay.... OTL

It's been a while since a series left me this disturbed tbh..

Shining Shoulder on Pop Team Epic was incredible this week. Also loved the ending lol.

Edit: thought I’d only see Pop Team Epic tonight, but ended up watching a bit more.

Loved Bocchi this week. The animation in this show is getting less grounded every week and is quickly shifting between art styles and I’m loving it. The humor was also excellent this week too. So many big laugh out loud moments.

Decided to catch up on the last two episodes of My Hero Academia tonight too. Wow this is such a huge step up from last season even with them stalling in a few spots. The big action generally looks great, the emotional moments are landing, and the big moments are hitting. Definitely elevating the source material on key moments. Excited to see the big battle continue.
