Slot 35 could be:
  • Wipeout 64
  • Worms Armageddon
  • WWF Attitude/No Mercy/War Zone/Wrestlemania 2000
  • Xena: Warrior Princess

Or World Driver Championship, which is one of the better looking Nintendo 64 games thanks to Boss Game Studios' custom microcode - they knew how to dig into the hardware just like Factor 5 and Rare.

Although I'm sad at no Konami games on the announced batch, I'm also kinda excited to play games like 1080, Excitebike 64 and Pilotwings 64 that I've never played before and I wouldn't have bought in the old VC format.

Ok so now that we have 18 games on the system and 9 more confirmed, the rest of the lineup is starting to pan out. I put astrisks for the games added after the data mine. Those spots shouldn't be considered set in stone, but a lot should make sense, especially 7-17 since everything fits in nicely.

Just a note, but your list has failed to include any of the JP-only titles (Custom Robo, Custom Robo V2 and Harvest Moon 64/Bokujō Monogatari 2).

Truthfully I was under the impression that the list that Mondo datamined was only for the North American/European side, because that would explain the lack of a slot between Goldeneye and Kirby 64 for Harvest Moon (again, assuming it's still alphabetical and wasn't scrambled after the datamine)

...unless it's using the Japanese name, in which case there really is only one slot available between 1080 Snowboarding and Dr. Mario

The original list image included the Japanese titles, and the IDs for each region - which would imply that it's a universal list for all versions of the app:

...damn.

Well I really hope they don't intend on stopping after 38 games, because I don't envy who has to choose between Banjo-Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Diddy Kong Racing and DK64 as what will fill that final slot at the beginning of the list 😬

E: Mondo has since clarified that we can have more games beyond the 38; I'm silly lol

Mega Drive proved to be even more interesting.

At least 52!

And if you needed more proof that at least one additional NSO platform is coming, look at the first digit of the game IDs. SNES was 2, N64 was 3, MD is 5. Essentially; Game Boy is coming.

With tonight'supdate, we are up to 33 Genesis games. So at minimum there are 19 more games co in to the service.

Jokes on us, 4 is going to be Sega Master System

With Mega CD games going to the next Mega Drive Mini, I really hope we get that on NSO some day. Maybe once Sega have made their money from the mini console, they reach a deal with Nintendo again.

I don't think licencing is the hurdle that would block Mega CD games; but rather file sizes. Even on a system like this CD roms take up a decent chunk of space, more than even N64 games in some cases. There are possible solutions though; they could choose not to care and just make the app filesize noticably large, or they could make Mega CD an optional download via "DLC".

I think they'll wait a decent amount of time after the Mini 2 before even considering adding them though so we'll have to wait and see what they do.

And just like Factor 5‘s games on N64, it has been a bitch to emulate correctly.

Aside for that, this game is a beast, easily one of the most beautiful N64 game, period (played in hires widescreen).

SEGA CD and 32x (at least the three titles that would probably get added) would be cool, but I think those systems are low on the priority list right now.

If anything, I just want to listen to the boot music for Sega CD all day long lol.

Hi Everyone, so we have made a few changes. The original NSO thread that was used for friends codes has been combined with the Expansion Pass thread.. The same rules apply where you have to reply to see the list in post 2. Please feel free to post your info so I can add it to post 2.

Fami-user name / Nintendo user name / Friend code

Going forward we will keep using this for ongoing NSO discussion. New threads will still pop up for news!

P.S- new poll.

I did think it a tad odd when I joined that the two threads were seperate from eachother.

So tomorrow should be the last day to announce the monthly N64 game, right? They always announce the game a week in advance, and next week is the las Friday of September. Let's hope we can have Goldeneye, but I imagine if they were going to announce the date, they would have done it at the direct.

3 hours or it’s likely over for this month.

It would be the first time they skip a month since the N64 launched. The only reason I could understand that is if they are going to launch more consoles on October. Let's see.

To be fair, they did skip November last year. Paper Mario was the first N64 game added after the original launch in October, in December.

In this case, I think it's possible they're using the ND announcement of the new roadmap for the rest of this year and the first half of next year as an excuse to take a break until next month.

Maybe, but it would be a bit weird even if we know there are more games coming. I'm really curious with Goldeneye, as if they skip September they will have 3 games for 3 remaining months. Let's see if something happens in a few hours.

So no announcement today. The only possible game I can see now is Goldeneye this month if Nintendo/Microsoft need to synchronise and announce/launch it next week. But it seems probably that this will be the first month without a N64 game since past December.

Yeah I was right, we're not getting an N64 game month lol.

My prediction is that it will be a repeat of what they did the first time: they'll add Mario Party 1, 2 and Pilotwings 64 somewhere in October, November and December, and just like last year all of the other announced games, including GoldenEye, will be released up until July next year, which is probably where they'll release Harvest Moon last due to its JP only status while releasing a western exclusive game like Cruis'n USA on our service to compensate, just like what they did with the Custom Robos and Pokemon Puzzle League. Then they'll announce another intermediate game like Smash Bros., DK64, Ogre Battle 64 or something in August and then we'll get the road map for Year 3 at the September Direct next year.

Goldeneye could still be this year in the west, it seems to be something outside the normal release schedule

So it's been almost 2 weeks since the Direct and the "Coming Soon" announcement for Goldeneye.

When are we expecting it to release?

Sometime this year. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be announced the week of the week after the Direct. If it was, they would have just said the release date instead of coming soon.

I finally have put some time into wave race 64 (about two hours) and I have to say, it grew on me very quickly!

I thought it was unwieldy at first but once I got the hang of it, it's super fun to play. I just beat the hard circuit, so I may try expert next. I've also started learning how to pull off stunts. It's a really fun learning curve.

Well that wasn't quite expected: both Mario Party and Mario Party 2 are launching together on November 2nd.

I wonder if this means that Goldeneye 007 will still be this year, but as the December game instead?

Would this be a good/okay place to see if anyone here wants to join an expansion pass family plan?

I have 2 slots left from folks who don’t want to renew and would ideally like to keep the $10 per person split (although I am still charging everyone $10 regardless to keep it easy and eating the extra cost if I can’t fill the plan).

For context, this is my first post over here after being on the old place for several years. After lurking the past year felt like the right time to make an account with this family plan search and the Mario Rabbids ST actually existing over here

Try here.

Try here.

Oooo thank you! Did not think such a specific thread would exist

So we are at almost half December and no signs of the monthly N64 game. It would be weird for Nintendo to release two games together in November just for not launching anything on the next month, but who knows.

  • NSO N64 Service Launch - October 25, 2021
    • Dr. Mario 64
    • Mario Kart 64
    • Mario Tennis
    • Sin and Punishment
    • Star Fox 64
    • Super Mario 64
    • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    • WinBack: Covert Operations
    • Yoshi’s Story
  • Paper Mario (December 10, 2021) 46 days - Second Friday
  • Banjo-Kazooie (January 20, 2022) 41 days - Third Thursday
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (February 25, 2022) 36 days - Fourth Friday
  • F-Zero Zero X (March 11, 2022) 14 days - Second Friday
  • Mario Golf (April 15, 2022) 35 days - Third Friday
  • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (May 20, 2022) 35 days - Third Friday
  • Pokemon Snap (June 24, 2022) 35 days - Fourth Friday
  • Pokémon Puzzle League (July 15, 2022) 21 days - Third Friday
  • Wave Race 64 (August 19, 2022) 34 days - Third Friday
  • Pilotwings 64 (October 13, 2022) 55 days - Third Wednesday
  • Mario Party/Mario Party 2 (November 2, 2022) 20 days - First Wednesday
I think what makes this tough to sus out is how Pilotwings 64 took 55 days to release after Wave Race, but then Mario Party 1 and 2 come out simultaneously less than three weeks later.

Right now, the average day between release dates on these games is 34 days (rounding up)

Assuming their NSO release date returns to third Friday, we're looking at a gap of 44 days, so we're already overdue (the average number of days increasing the average days between releases to 35 rounding up. But god forbid we're looking at a January 20th release, that's 79 days; well past the previous record of waiting 55 days.

In conclusion, we gotta keep faith

I'm more interested in NSO Genesis since the last update was in September. Usually there's new games added when the N64 additions are in the first half of the month, but we got nothing last month despite getting a really early N64 update.

IMO it is Goldeneye or bust for December. The already announced N64 games left are all 2023 games.

No sign of anything N64 related for the month, but we have now gotten 4 more Genesis/Mega Drive titles with:
  • Alien Storm
  • Columns
  • Golden Axe II
  • Virtua Fighter 2
----

And as this is probably the final set of new content for the year, I'll now take the oppurtunity to update the "NSO content timeline" graphic I had made. It has a few differences before from the previous version - it now goes all the way back to the original launch of NSO (although split into seperate images now by year) and features seperate timelines for both NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom.

I'll only post the 2022 image in this comment - all other images, and the written explanation, can be found here: https://famiboards.com/threads/nintendo-switch-online-expansion-pass-st.412/post-382743

Sega Genesis seems to have settled into an "every three months" schedule.

What a weird ass release schedule for N64 NSO.

Every single month saw the release of at least one N64 game...all except for September and December. Like September I kinda get considering that what was when they announced the next batch of games at the ND and thus acted as some sort of clean break, but why couldn't they have held back Mario Party 2 for this month instead of blowing their wad and releasing it alongside the first game last month?
