Discussion Goldeneye 007 is unplayable.

Now that I have your attention...

No I don't mean the graphics, and no I don't mean the frame rate either. I'm a cool dude.

In Goldeneye you cannot individually set if you want your aiming to be inverted or not in multiplayer. This can only be changed in single player (where it is inverted by default), and whatever setting it is on, is the setting that applies to all four players in multiplayer.

You can change the control scheme individually, but not whether aiming is inverted or not.

So unless they make changes to how N64 online works, in multiplayer you are stuck with playing how player 1 wishes to do so.

No one ever seems to bring this up when discussing this game. Have you all really just reverted to not playing inverted? Where are my OG N64 peeps.

you don't even need to aim up or down in most maps

and everyone knows that 2 stick is the only right way to play goldeneye and it is a singleplayer only

Pikmin 3 Deluxe has a similar sort of problem with its multiplayer—you can set the controls to either gyro controls or stick controls, but not independently for each player; both players have to use whichever control method is set. Which is super disappointing for me, being someone who vastly prefers gyro controls while everyone else I know who will play with me prefers stick controls.

You're absolutely right that it's unplayable.
On the Nintendo Switch Expansion Pack.
But it will be playable soon!

I never would have thought people would want to invert the y axis in an FPS 🤔

That seems like an efficient way to make me motion sick
I’m certain this was because I played a ton of east Microsoft flight sim, but I cannot play without the y axis inverted for any game. Or at least not well. That’s sticks obviously because with gyro it’s motion based. Even if it’s third person games or whatever. It’s amazing to me games like Luigi’s mansion 3 never got an inverted look patch. Makes me so much worse at the game.

I was fighting the controls the entire time in Luigi's Mansion 3. I can't believe they couldn't just include an option for inverted aiming like most modern games. Tons of people play games that way as it was common in the '90s and earlier. I complained to Nintendo about it but they said they would pass on the message.

The first thing I ask whenever I meet somebody for the first is whether they invert their Y-axis or not. If not, it will also be the last time I meet them.

I played a lot of Goldeneye multiplayer in my college years and I don’t think this ever came up amongst my friends group, interesting though

I don’t remember the C-Up & C-Down buttons behind reversed, interesting.

It’s been a lonnnnng time since I played the game without the 1964 60 FPS Mousehack so my memory isn’t perfect.

I can't play FPS games with two sticks. It's just silly to me to have one stick to move the character, and the other to turn the character around.
