Lot of good variety this month and from reviewing everything coming out this month, it seems like there are lots of hidden gems that might fly under the radar and not get the attention they deserve. (Understandable when there are 82 games releasing, not counting the inevitable games that are announced and released within the month)

I'm for sure getting Splatoon 3, but I'm still working through a handful of other things (Tinykin, MHR Sunbreak) so I'll probably hold off on getting much else.

Oh boy. This is some month. I'm gonna do lots of Switch spending.

Big releases:
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R (played the demo back on PS3 and loved it. Finally getting my hands on the full game)
Life is Strange Arcadia Bay Collection (I had the originals on iOS but the bad performance kept me away)
The Legend of Heroes Trails to Zero (I've been waiting for this one for years! Crossbell, here I come!)
The DioField Chronicle (loved the demo. Def getting it)
Dungeons III (a Dungeon Keeper clone from the masters of Tycoon, Kalypso. I hear it's actually pretty great)
XIII (good or bad, I'm still getting it. XIII was one of my favorite FPS games on the gen 7 consoles)
Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris (textbook definition of "dumb fun")
Taiko No Tatsujin (more Taiko is always a good thing)
Ark Ultimate Surivivor's Edition (I'm giving this another chance. I'm so high on base building games right now and I need another one on Switch)

Indies:
Anno Mutationem
Return to Monkey Island
Ooblets
Midnight Fight Express
Railgrade
BPM Beats Per Minute

Need to see some reviews first:
Made in Abyss Binary Star
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Gerda A Flame in Winter
Shovel Knight Dig
Circus Electrique

Quiet month for me. Which is fine I have some big ones to work on already before life gets busy

I rarely buy games on day 1 anymore, but Return to Monkey Island is absolutely a day 1 for me!

@Nabbit regarding Dicey Dungeons difficulty, some characters are harder than others, and some episodes are more challenging than others. For me, I found some of the Witch episodes to be the most difficult (in-game she is ranked as the most difficult character as it stands anyway). That being said, I don't think it was frustratingly difficult to finish everything, and it's one of my favorite indie games on the system honestly.

Thanks so much for the info! How long does it take to beat with one character or overall?

Shovel Knight Dig and Splatoon 3 are as of now my only day ones, which is good cause next month is killer. As always will look for good deals off my wishlist as well.

Thank you for the great thread as always @Joedev! Definitely intrigued by Shovel Knight Dig and Haiku the Robot.

Only Return to Monkey Island for me here, since I am holding out on buying Splatoon 3 until further updates. It's a slow month before the madness that will be October. It makes me kind of wish one of the October releases had been brought forward to this month.

Let's add to the list the third Voice of cards game to the list, Beast of burden releases on the 14th

Anno Mutationem is my only new release purchase this month, but a whole bunch of games are going on the wishlist.

You could buy a new game every weekday this month and still be missing out on some solid games!

The episodes aren't super long. I'd say maybe 20-30 hour range to finish everything? Just depends.
Rad, thanks! And I take it if you die mid-episode you have to start the whole episode over?

Splatoon 3 for sure, and probably Taiko too. I’m not interested in the subscription thing for Taiko so I’ll have to see what the base game situation is like first.

Sales on my wishlist have been unusually few the past month or so. Maybe this means we'll get a big indie sale and an Indie World this week.

I finished the main story in Death's Door. I had started awhile back, can't remember why exactly I stopped playing, but I really enjoyed it overall. I'm probably going to try to get 100% since it seems like there's a bit more after you finish the game. I really enjoyed the characters (gave me a Studio Ghibli vibe) and the soundtrack is pretty good too. Decent amount of humor too, which I appreciated. Just a fun, not too long, adventure.

B.ARK is on sale for $2, lowest price ever. I will be purchasing it. I really enjoyed Adventures of Pip.

Thanks for the pointers to interesting games on sale - that's one of the best things about this thread!

I'll contribute too - Inmost is on sale for £2.99 (EU), which is 75% off. It's a less well known game published by Chucklefish that featured in an Indie World direct a while back. It's a side scrolling adventure with great pixel art and a dark, brooding atmosphere. I'm only about 1 hour in but I'm enjoying it so far and I'd say it's worth a punt at the price 😊

Wow, Dicey Dungeons is absurdly addictive. I didn't even know I liked this type of game. We're only in the second episode though so I might be less addicted when we die near the end of an episode. 😶

Just a heads up. The Switch port of Hell Pie is extremely bad. It's reported that it crashes like every two minutes, corrupted saves, and bad frame rate. The Switch launch trailer is also reported to be a lie. It shows 60 FPS but it's believed to be PC footage. A real shame

I got back into Slay the Spire this week and finally managed to beat the Act IV boss (with my favorite character, the Defect). Super fun game, but I was getting frustrated by constantly failing at that spot, so I'm glad to have done it finally.

Such a grest game. The heart may be harder than an ascension level 10. I beat it first time with the Silent and a Shiv build. I like to return to it from time to time. I left at level 14 I think, which is pretty challenging already for me. It's my favourite roguelite alongside Into the Breach for sure.

It's super addictive. I hadn't played for a couple years, but got back into it this week. It's just so easy to do a few runs every evening or whatever. My build was centered around lightning orbs. There were a couple cards I had been hoping to get and didn't, but it ended up working out anyway thankfully lol

I've been playing and really enjoying Gum+, which was recommended by someone (@bixente?) in an earlier thread. Really solid puzzles, and the difficulty is just right for me.

I was going to ask how you liked it. I'm actually stuck on this one puzzle though lol

Which one is the eShop to update earliest? Every week I’m looking forward to the new Hamster’s ACA, and usually I check the japanese shop since it release the ACA a “day” earlier then EU territories. Edit: JPN eShop is the answer

I don't know which world you're in, but at a certain point it opens up a bit and you'll have more options to choose from if you get stuck on a single puzzle.

Sadly it has started crashing for me as I've gotten further. Hopefully it doesn't become too bad, since I really like the game 😅

I played the Jack Move demo and thought it was fantastic. Completely sold me on the game.

Highly recommend checking it out.

It's a very highly polished indie rpg with great music and a cyberpunk aesthetic.

Question : overcooked or overcooked 2?
Which is the best ? I'm planning to play with the kids.
Is the All You Can Eat version much more expensive at the moment? If you could pick it, it has both complete games on it and some extra stuff. Otherwise, I prefer 2, but it has throwing mechanics, not sure their age and if the simpler one would be better.

My girlfriend and I are massive Overcooked fans and we can safely say Overcooked 2 is better in almost every way, like any good sequel ought to be.

Thanks for your answers ! I think I'll grab 2 then, as it's on sale. Thanks !

With people that don't really play games, I feel like we've had more fun with Overcooked 1. Its mechanics are simpler and the levels not quite as frantic, so it's an easier entry point I think.

Has anyone played the Switch port of BPM Bullets per Minute? The game is great but the two reviews I’ve read say the visuals are waaaaaaay too muddy, so far as to impact negatively on gameplay with enemies hard to see.

I was wondering how it is in portable mode, don’t care about docked.

Reporting back in to say Dicey Dungeons still has me mega-hooked. We've been working on it for a couple weeks and beaten the first two episodes with nearly all of the characters. I love how creative the different rulesets are. Each character feels like you're playing a different game. It's super fun and addictive.
