Spoiler The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Postgame & Spoiler Discussion Thread

i just realized there was no Consul A
I don't know if this is a common idea/train of thought or if this just me reaching, but on technicality I think I'd consider Aionios as a whole to be Consul A? Since Aionios is a "false" world created from the Origin data of Bionios, Mechonis, and Alrest for Z'd plans, and A being the only letter missing a consul.

idk if it's common but I've seen it floated around before, it's a neat theory

that ot there just saving them for the DLC (hero quests or new story)

Hmmm. Just notice that Noah's sword in the Expansion key art does have the ouroboros symbol on it, so i guess interlinking will still be mechanic in the story DLC

Does Lucky 7 not inflict instant death when Noah's a healer class or am I just getting really unlucky? Trying to CP farm, Noah only has healer classes left to hit rank 20 on everything.

Consul A was probably Aaron A. Aaronson.

So, I’m currently trying to complete the collectopedia card quests, and I’m currently stuck with Selfifi with Gogol Olipple. Can’t seem to find it and google does not yield any helpful results.

The Olipples were unfortunately removed in the 1.1.1 patch.

The Level 75 gogols in lower Maktha would toss them as their ecology action. The patch makes them toss Vuagas instead (which were an obtainable item before the patch) which makes Olipples unobtainable. The two items are mutually exclusive to which patch you're on. There is currently no way to complete all collectapedia cards unless you got an Olipple before the patch.

I don't believe anyone's managed to find Gogol Dalms either despite the patch saying it makes them obtainable.

It does not. Only an attacker class. After everyone else is 20 in everything, just make your party level 99 and Noah level 1 and kill them normally. It's pretty much just as fast as using Unlimited Sword. Plus now food works.

Hah, you spoons haven't realized that Consul A was with us the whole time

"Hear that Noah, Lanz wants something A bit meatier"

Finished up what ought to be the last of the sidequests, filled out all the maps, got my squad to Lv. 99, and hunted down most of the uniques. Still need to beat a couple more, including Ceratinia, but I'll be ready to put this down once they're taken care of. I'm nowhere near maxing everyone's classes or getting all the gems, but I figure I may as well wait for the DLC to start coming out, since I would imagine there'll be some rewards in there to make those grinds easier. I'm hoping we see wave 2 in the Direct tomorrow, though I'm not holding my breath.

I genuinely love this game. Xenoblade combat has always been foremost about constructing builds and executing on them, with enemies existing mostly to test their effectiveness, and while I understand people's problems with that approach, it really shines when you have the flexibility to assemble your six team members as you like and swap control between them, and I've been enjoying the postgame content here much more than I have in the previous games.

A little over 180 hours in, I've got everybody to rank 20 in all classes, got all soulhacker arts and skills, and I think I finished all the quests (except armu breeding - may have to look up a guide). So all I've really got left is enhancing soulhacker arts & skills which looks beyond tedious, getting rank 10 gems, and re-challenging the superbosses. I am starting to think it might be best to put the game down for a bit until the next DLC wave. Saving the powered-up superbosses for the new class sounds fun so there's more to do with it than just challenge battle mode. I really hope they just give everyone besides the inheritor rank A compatibility with it.

Would love it if we get some DLC news in the direct tomorrow. They didn't show any non-Torna DLC for 2 in directs but 2's best stuff was all crammed into the last three months of the season pass. E3 2018 showed the Torna reveal in the direct, then showed challenge mode with Shulk and Fiora in the treehouse segment. Where it's more spread out this time with challenge mode coming a lot sooner than the story DLC, maybe there's a chance.

I watched Luxin's video. Does anyone else think the idea that Noah literally interlinked with Mio in the recreated worlds as an explanation for his disappearance really far-fetched or is there something to that?
Yeah, I'm still not entirely convinced that wasn't just an animation error. Like, thematically, some sort of connection seems reasonable, but literal interlinking seems a bit much.

i have done a lot of soul searching to find the answer ti this question

I would take a bullet for Mio, Sena, eunie and post chapter 5 Noah

But i would use Lanz and taion as bullet sheilds

We could get a glimpse of the story DLC in January, but that’s me being extremely bullish and I doubt it. Maybe March?

Torna was revealed the E3 after XC2 released in December. XC3 released five months earlier, so I don’t think early next year is impossible.

As for my personal XC3 journey. Well, I hit level 99 yesterday and I’m not sure what to do now, I’ve still got some ascension quests to do, but it feels a little hollow given the ending of the game.

I could grind up some classes, but at this point, I don’t know what I’d even be grinding them up for - the Land of Challenge would need some amazing rewards to motivate me.

XC2’s NG+ gave you more blades to unlock and an additional pouch item slot. That combined with the Land of Challenge, which offered up exclusive, more powerful accessories, and Shulk, Fiora and Elma, made the grind something I was excited about.

But XC3’s NG+ has nothing extra… I suppose costumes could be cool, but I’d want more than colour swaps (we’ve got them with the DLC).

I know it's unlikely, but I would love the upcoming direct to have a bit of Xenoblade: "It's out. It has some of the best review scores of the year. We're dropping some DLC content in a few months, here's a preview of the new character".

idk.
I know the sales are good "for a JRPG", but seeing a game with the scope and ambition of Xenoblade 2 lagging behind Clubhouse Games in sales just makes me think there's so much room to grow.
Especially for 3, which I think is way more accessible and streamlined than previous entries.

And for as much as I have criticised it, I want to emphasise this: The negatives sting so hard because when this game is good, it is special. It's Xenogears-special. It's once-in-a-decade special. I never thought Takahashi's team could hit those heights again, but I think that with the addition of the top-tier animation, voice-acting and cutscene direction in this game, they actually surpassed those heights in parts.

Doing all the ascension quests after finishing the game, I was again struck by how good the writing was, how well the tone is managed. It feels like they really did put everything into this. And it's a shame it doesn't all come together. But that shouldn't take away from what's here. I really hope more people get to experience this game. It really is, to me, like a Chrono Trigger in its potential appeal outside of the core JRPG audience.

Bummer.

Also, how do we trigger that “hey, you’re a little young for a drink” quest in the city?
I believe that's the one you need Triton in your party for.

And yea, hopefully the gogol fruits will all be fixed next month with the DLC patch.

So, I didn't play Xeno2 challenge mode. How does it work? What should I expect here?

Also, the neck/head proportion of that thing looks discomforting.

The DLC hero looks to be an artificial blade like Poppi, especially with that class name (Noponic Champion). Which notably means she's functionally immortal, making things look pretty good for my "the heroes will be used to fill in the gaps in Aionios' history and worldbuilding" theory.

Yeah "Noponic Champion" raises a few flags but we'll see how it shakes out.

I was just saying the dude has a core crystal. lol On Alrest before the intersection he was bladiest blade and not a human like Rex and Morag.
I'm not convinced any of the Agnian soldiers are pure blades. Seems more likely they (at least the ones with core crystals) are the first generation of human/blade hybrids.

Speculation time!

The new hero is 100% a nopon-made artificial blade like Poppi. The class is called Noponic Champion and they have their own version of Poppiswap called Inoswap. Thankfully, it's another defender which we really needed. Ino's also the first defender to have a Break art and this will be the only non-positional break art in the game bar Noah's ourobros.

What's interesting in the Inoswap menu - which looks like a smaller version of the Ouroboros soul trees - she has six arts and five skills. So it looks like this class will be getting one more art and one more skill than the rest. Weirdly, her skills are circular instead of square, and combined with the unique Inoswap mechanic, I'm thinking her skills won't be transferable. I love that they are doing unique mechanics for the DLC heroes. I'm curious if Inoswap is accessible to anyone in the noponic champion class or if it's only available to Ino.

You'll be able to get HD ether crystals from orangey deposits which are required to upgrade the Inoswap skill tree. I wonder if this will actually add new deposits to the world or change existing ones.

So speculation on who Ino is: it's possible she's an actual little sister to Poppi also made by Tora. Where Origin and Poppi withstood the collision, and are both creations of Tora, then Ino would also survive and continue on. If so, her quest could provide some backstory on the creation of Origin. Though it's also possible she was made by one the seven nopon smiths inspired by stories of Tora and Poppi or something like that.

Then we get a silhouette of our next hero. The flowy dress outfit screams mage-like character to me and the hair ornaments give the style an Asian vibe that would imply an Agnus healer.

Probably right. Like Mio seems to be.

Not blade-related, but Eunie seems to have more Homs in her with her hair color so all the races might be mixing a bit with the party characters. Although Sena does have ether lines so she might be the only "pure blade" as much as I want her to be Morag and Brighid's lovechild.

Definitely need more of those.

I like that the new hero has unique mechanics, but I don't think that fits very well as a DLC hero. Everyone has already completed the game. Are we just gonna fast travel around to ether wells? It would have been more engaging to build her up throughout the game, and we already have a mostly postgame, unique hero class in Soul Hacker.

I would agree that basing it around ether deposits doesn't work as well for post-game. Ether deposit gathering is already one of the less engaging aspects of the main game. Many of us are probably sitting on 99 regular ether cylinders, it'd be nice if Inoswap acted as a way to spend all of that rather than introducing a new type. But if Inoswap offers some decent customization that feels different from the other classes then it'll be fun to tinker with.

Should also be fun on replays. I'm definitely going to go through the whole game again on a fresh file once all DLC is out like I did with 2.

You select challenge battles from a list, then you'll be taken to an instanced area where the battle takes place. Usually, enemies will come in waves. If you don't defeat a wave fast enough, the next wave will come while the remainder of the prior wave is still there. Some didn't have waves but were suped up versions of the superbosses. Some had a big boss enemy spawn at the start that you had to fight alongside the waves. Some had bosses significantly stronger than anything in the base game spawn on the final wave. A few enemies introduced new mechanics like Guldos who had an attack that drained your party gauge.

There's a timer and your best time is recorded per battle and per difficulty level. It's mostly as advertised - challenging battles that allow you to really get the full use out of all the combat mechanics and reward you for making broken builds. It's a lot of fun.

A Xenoblade speedrun marathon that RPG Limit Break did a while back had a challenge mode showcase with Enel running the game if you want to get a better idea of it:

Oh! I just noticed, there's a 'Save Party Formation' prompt with the plus button at the bottom of the screen when they're in the menu for Ino's character. Looks like they'll be adding a way to save party-wide loadouts. That would be fantastic!

Thanks! Looks good to me.

They mentioned some rewards from overcoming these battles. I suposse these are better than the ones from the main game to incintivate these challenges.

Also, the save party formation is a much needed QOL feature.

Kind of want the Expansion Pass now but I'm assuming that if there's a Torna style expansion, the physical release will include a code for the Expansion Pass content. I know I'll end up buying a physical copy of the XB3 DLC so don't wanna pay twice, unless there's a way around that

Same boat.
Patience! 🤞

So if we look at the character menu, we can see that Ino has square arts, including Starry Beat, and her chain order is Agnus. We can also see that she has an art that recharges by autoattacks in this image from the JP Twitter. However, in the menu for Inoswap, Starry Beat is shown to have a cooldown of 8 seconds, although the text says Auto-Attack Recharge in English.

I wonder if this has anything to do with half of her skill tree being locked.
