This looked great. I liked the character designs.
I never played Marth's game before, so seeing him referenced in almost every modern FE game feels weird for me lol.

I think my early impressions of Fire Emblem games are always so crazy off the mark that at this point I've given up on them. I basically just saw "oh awesome new Fire Emblem oh and the graphics are better" and my mind stopped lol. I thought Three Houses looked bad for months and it ended up being superb. Fates' original trailer had me hooked and I couldn't wait for the story but it ended up being the epitome of a gameplay-over-story game. Echoes looked superb and it's probably the only FE game I don't like. I just give up give me more FE I'll figure out the rest after that.

I liked the presentation, a voiced protagonist, the battle animations and the story. I’m in! 😃

I think IS lost me on this series after being soured on the latest entries... I just don't like the departure for the tactical aspect of the game into more JRPG mechanics but I understand the reasons behind that decision and I am glad for all the new adepts the series got.

I just rewatched the trailer with a more analytical head. Putting aside Toothpaste design and the surprise of the fanservice lords, the small bits of map we saw looked really, really good, a return to form I didn't expect or think possible. The town management could be a fun change of pace, the way the lords add skills and stats to your characters could be a good replacement to pair-up...

I'm already a lot warmer to it than I was an hour ago.

rewatched the trailer and feelings are mostly the same, hope it turns out to be good. Like I said, still gonna buy it (collectors edition and all)

I wasn't sure what to make of the art style at first, it struck me as somewhat juvenile I guess. But after seeing the illustrated key art, I really love how vibrant and bold the colors are. The more stylized environments look really great too (I feel like we've been getting a lot of anime/cel-shaded characters on trying to be realistic textures). And you know, after Xenoblade 3 took a darker direction, it sounds nice to have a brighter fantasy RPG to look forward to. I guess I've been sold on it!

Not crazy about summoning past heroes. I'm kind of over the series' obsession with fan service and Marth being on the key art. But bringing them in as Personas/Stands has some originality to it.

Weapon durability is gone as leaks foretold, don't love that design choice, but other than that it looks really solid. The town seems to be some combination of the academy and My Castle. I had little doubt they'd keep the free-roaming hub aspect from Three Houses. Altogether the game doesn't look to be anything overly ambitious, just a solid fun mostly traditional FE title and I'm getting pretty excited for it the more I think about it.

Pretty mixed on it, I like the gameplay map though. It'll also be nice to not have multiple routes (hopefully)

Horrible name, nice visual presentation. I'm rather ... apathetic on everything else, though. Not sure, why, but Three Houses' atmosphere and setting did more for me from the very first showing. This, for whatever reason, kinda reminds me of the feeling I had when Fates was announced. Not the best feeling, lol.

I'm kinda worried how the story will be with the whole older FE protagonists as personas thing going. Fanservice usually means the story takes a backseat but I'm hopeful it won't. Three Houses is my favorite one by far so I hope this one is just as good

The character designs are giving me Fates vibes, which didn't quite do it for me, and I hope that this game doesn't shy away from the darker elements despite the brighter color palette

According to Emily, this is all Gust. Feels like a Gust game too.

Maybe IntSys is creatively looking over the project, especially combat part.

Would make sense if the Fire Emblem remake is a thing as well(?)

Or else IntSys are making a new Paper Mario I guess?

To be honest I like the FEs that are in Awakening's and Fate's lineage.
I liked Three Houses, but I didn't attach to it as I did with 3ds emblems.

It's so interesting how this series has been passed around

Sooo is this game called Engage because of the engagement ring that the protagonist is wearing

Eh, I'll wait until we get more info to decide what I actually think of this game as a whole.

For now, I'll echo the sentiment that the character's designs and rings are pretty disappointing.
I also don't have much faith in the story since this is clearly more of an anniversary game than a "normal" mainline game.

That being said, 3H didn't excite me at first either and I do think that the gameplay has the potential to be much more refined than that game, so I'm not completely writing this game off just yet.

The graphics are a clear step up in clarity. Not feeling the art style just yet.

The game's overall look, titling and placement of summonable heroes gives it more of a "spinoff" vibe than a mainline title.

The story sounds like a back-to-the-basics deal thus far.

But first impressions aside, I wasn't high on Three Houses first trailer either. I ended up liking that game quite a bit and it's art style grew on me. It's second trailer really helped.

So with that in mind, I look forward to (probably) a December Fire Emblem Direct with a blowout on the game's world, cast and play mechanics.

I don't look forward to whatever fiasco Nintendo has planned for the pre-order collector edition campaign :/

As an aside, NateDrake totally vindicated with his Fire Emblem teases. Altho it didnt pop up in this Direct, I'm sure Metroid Prime 1 HD is a Thing and hey, maybe Metroid is getting it's own separate Direct as well?

Actually yeah, given how early in the year this game is releasing, we're probably not getting another general before its release, so I think a FE Engage Direct a month or so before release is pretty likely.

This is a weird one. On the one hand, the graphics looks so much cleaner than Three Houses and there being just one story is a plus for me too (I found Three Houses to be an intriguing mess narratively). On the other hand, them charging headlong into more fanservice seems an odd one, and losing the more grounded setting of Three Houses is an odd one. Definitely sense this would make sense as an anniversary game but I guess they missed that boat. And stupid name too.

Anyway, let the rampant speculation as to which FE characters will make it in as summons COMMENCE

Fates Conquest is one of my favorite games ever, so I'm fine with a game that expands on map design and has a fan-servicey whatever story.

I wasn't super into Three Houses really at all either, even up to release day. But when I played it I was pretty much instantly all in. This game looks better in a lot of ways, so I'm betting if the mechanics are there (and there's unit training! Please!) then I'll be sold again

Honestly, I'll be real, I'm moderately exhausted of more grounded, realistic fantasy settings. Seems like it's been more of a trend recently and while I do enjoy them, I'm kinda burning out.

So yeah I'm fine with something a bit more "anime" and ridiculous like this, it looks more appealing to me than the Three Houses premise would at this time. Give me Cobra Dragons and inexplicable inter-realm summoning of very tired heroes as Stands (please, someone let Marth retire in peace)

Looking at the art from the beginning of the trailer, it looks like they're showing Ike with an Axe (Brave Ike from FEH), and what looks like Masked Lucina with a Bow.

I wonder if these Emblems will be tied to specific weapon types so they didn't want them all to be swords lol. If that is the case it's a bit odd they went with Eirika and Lyn over other options for FE8 and FE7 (not that odd in Lyn's case).

EDIT: Definitely Masked Lucina in a later shot.

I think we might need to wait for release to see the full staff list. From possible Koei to Gust staff. But seeing Sigurn (voiced and all) does sorta strengthen the FE 4 remake for the internal team (not that they will use this particular model).

Outside of Ike and Lucina, Sigurd is another sword-wielding lord that uses another weapon type in this game ( a lance).

You know Engage kinda shows that making a balanced roster composed solely of lords for the original Fire Emblem Warriors was totally possible.
But I get it, before Heroes was a thing it was a hard sell to put the spotlight on the protagonist of games that sold much worse than Awakening and Fates.

I guess we should also count our blessing that the rings aren't tied to any gacha mechanics, though I do expect them to sell characters like Hector and Ephraim as DLC if they aren't present in the base game.

I love the new protag designs, they're wacky and neat.

I don't love that the story looks like it's just an excuse to bring back old characters. They did so well with 3H making a fantastic new cast, why are they going this route now? Is Heroes that popular?

Yes. FEH is a giant money maker.

If Heroes is the big inspiration behind the game I hope they include some Heroes OCs too.

Mostly Laegjarn and Lif, but still.
