So now F-Zero GX joins the fray. When the hell are they going to release all of this stuff.
  • Metroid Prime HD (2 and 3 later on)
  • The Legend of Zelda HD Remasters
  • Everybody’s 1-2-Stinky
  • Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp
  • F-Zero GX HD (?)
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising HD (?)
  • Fire Emblem
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
Plus a bunch of DLC. Obviously not all gonna be in the direct, but that’s one hell of a lineup, and that’s just what we know of (potentially).
I don't think everything will be at the Direct, but I'mma try to estimate:
  • Metroid Prime Remake: November 11th 2022;
  • Metroid Prime 2/3 HD: no ideia, what I'm certain is that neither will be announced at this Direct, mor the next, nor at E3. They'll come after Metroid Prime 4 to fill the gap between that and Metroid 6 or between Metroid 6 and Prime 5. 2024 at the earliest;
  • The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD + Wind Waker HD: if it's just the Wii U versions I think they'll be bundled together, and be released either late September, early October or early December - there's no point in releasing them in early 2023 as that year already has a Zelda game;
  • Everybody's 1-2 Switch: that one has a real shot of being canned or rebooted. But in case it comes, will be on a casual heavy month like December or April;
  • Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp: December or January hopefully;
  • F-Zero GX HD: I think that's summer 2023 material. There's no way they put another game holiday 2022. And I think early 2023 can ride on Fire Emblem, Zelda and maybe 2D Mario. If there's no Mario it can be late spring tho;
  • Kid Icarus Uprising HD: no idea how early or far it is into development and this Direct will already be some serious fanfiction material having BotW2, MPR/4, Fire Emblem, Zelda remasters and F-Zero, so I think it can be a February 2023 Direct reveal. I think it will make a good late summer/fall release for 2023. Maybe it can be spring 2024;
  • Fire Emblem Next: February. It's been awhile since Three Houses already and will be enough time after Three Hopes by then. Plus it's a date they like. If it's not February, then May(would be cool if May came back at being a relevant month for Nintendo);
  • The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2: March. If they're coupling it with hardware, it's either that or February - they won't release hardware in April or May. If it isn't a launch title tho, I still think March is the likeliest month.

I don't think younger people can appreciate how significant the Wave Bird controller was. Your ass could be in another room and still control the game. That was revolutionary for the time.

tearing up and crying thinking about Nintendo making a modern "GameCube-style" controller that doesn't suck ass like the third party ones

adds a second Z-button on the left, click ablesticks, center has +/-/Home/Capture, wireless, charges via USB-C but can be used in wired mode, adds gyro, properly recognized by all remasters as well as Smash, Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine

I would be happier with this than any remaster and would buy a dozen to use forever

This sounds amazing. Hopefully we get some off the wall things mixed in with the usual suspects.

Idk what the situation is with Mistwalker and Nintendo and who’s got what rights for The Last Story but I’m hoping desperately that one of the many re-projects Nintendo has going on. I’ve always hoped for more from the series but Sakaguchi seems to focused on mobile right now

If they announce the remake of Prime, tease Prime 4 and show and name Breath Of The Wild 2 I might pass out right there.

The Zelda remasters, a new Fire Emblem and another trailer for Bayonetta 3 would be great too.

Makes a lot of sense. Always seemed like the next logical step once they were mostly through their WiiU catalog. Lot of value for those remasters/remakes, much lower costs and dev time vs new games, and excellent calendar fillers.

On that note I do hope that Baten Kaitos remasters happen. I recall some time ago there was some talk that Bamco had shot down the idea, but maybe things have changed.

Metroid Prime hd will be shown and mp4 "will" appear in the sense that its 5 seconds of landscapes with takahashi not letting yo see half of the screen

Teenage Wake's decision of not playing many Gamecube games is finally getting redeemed. I knew it was a good idea to trade gaming for an active social life.

Note: Teenage Wake did not have an active social life.

Remasters/remakes are good with me because I've never played anything. Honestly, barely exaggerating.

I'm big on games getting remastered and rebooted for modern systems. Because for me, the game either falls into one of two categories:

1. A game I played and loved, meaning not only do I get to play and own it again....but I get a major hit of nostalgia as well.
2. A game that I missed out on that I now get to actually spend time and play.

For example, I never really got a chance to play F-Zero GX. I rented it once as a kid and remember playing it for a short time, but then had to return it and never got a chance to play it again. Same with many other Gamecube, GBA, and N64 games.

And honestly, 1996-2005ish was the golden age of video games for me - so the more games Nintendo wants to take from this time period and reboot/remake for Switch, I'm all for it. Especially since the Switch 2 will have BC, meaning we'll be able to add these games to our libraries and know we'll be able to play them on the new system for a very long time.

I wonder if the idea would be to use remasters to test out/gain experience with Drake's featureset before applying it to more original titles

Launching a new system with a ton of ports and fewer original titles isn't super appealing on paper but they did that with 3DS and Switch so who knows
I'm a believer of that too actually. I thought Metroid Prime Remake would be a launch title to Drake.

Using remasters/remakes as visual showcases of new hardware isn't as bold as ir might seem. As those games came like one or two decades ago, you get a chance to really change it and serve something vastly improved. As the originals are less demanding, you can highlight tech and features in a more intensive way than with games made for it even.

The Zelda team made the remaster of Wind Waker to gain experience with Wii U and HD development, and the game absolutely showed with its lightning and reflections. It was one of the best looking Wii U games and it's 1080p. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still a showcase of the Switch.

We've had Demon's Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, TLOU Remastered and now TLOU remake showing that you can showcase everything a hardware can bring using a previous generation game.

I straight up did not expect this thread to get interesting at all before the 13th
Insiders saw it getting ugly in here earlier today and decided they needed to pull the emergency lever to restore peace
I sometimes wonder if @Emily watches the speed of these threads and deliberately holds stuff back so that when the thread gets sour she can pop in with the hot goss to revitalize the vibe 😅

Oh wait, (besides the obvious "remasters") if Nintendo is indeed considering more remakes, does that mean I can still get to see them shortly put out another FE remake back to back? Oh por favor, I want to finally get a completely remade Binding Blade/FE6. That game had so much potential but held back by "first installment of new system syndrome", rework some of this and that from characterization, story, and gameplay; we get one of the best FE games to exist of all kind :>

And for once, I can experience Roy's story legally and localized and so can everyone else. One of the most iconic and recognizable FE characters due to Smash but yet is one of the few characters in Smash where their game of origin was never released internationally :>

I think you are a Metroid fan.

Hi, I'm also a Metroid fan. Loved Dread and loving Prime 1 atm, can't wait for the remake
Hi, you guessed right, I'm a Metroid fan!! Nice to meet ya ;)

Dread is an absolute masterpiece, I loved it, Super and Fusion. It has to have a sequel in development already please.

I never finished Prime 1 :(
Will definitely do it when it launches for Switch tho.

This is smart. This gives old games new life at a reduced cost to a new and older audience while also preventing the company from ever having any first-party software droughts.

Holy crap, I never thought we would be seriously talking about F Zero in 2022. But here we possibly are.

Me? I’m really hoping for Star Fox Adventures or Assault. Also I wouldn’t sneeze at another Luigi’s Mansion remake because I bet it would look gorgeous in HD.

I was thinking the same about LM, I’m still pissed about that remake landing on 3DS lol
