Possibly 4 rainbow roads in one Mariokart game, and non of them are in my top 3.

Gotta say, the next two Tour tracks are definitely my two least favorite ones left, but at least the music is gonna be straight fire in both.

The Sundae course is really fun in 200cc lots of air time!

Edit: How have I, as an Aussie, now had the chance to play every track online except Sydney Sprint 😭

WTF SINCE WHEN IS 200CC PLAYABLE ONLINE?! I just played the most hectic Tokyo Blur match in the world lol

Next Tour after this is Bowser themed, as that's Bowser and Dry Bowser. Wonder what track we'll see...

Waluigi Stadium is cool but i cant help but feel that Wario Colosseum would be perfect for some antigrav shenanigans.

The remixes sound great though!

Gotta say that in regards to Wave 3
It looks weak. Not really interested in any of it. And no Vancouver until Wave 6 is so dumb.

Wave 3

Hype! I love the tracks in wave 3 even more than in wave 2 I think. Berlin is hype, I have been to that city many times so seeing all the highlights is always nice. Plus the music! Same goes for London.

Peach Gardens is one of my favourite DS tracks! Never expected it to return. The last DS track will be Airship Fortress right? Would be sad to not see it in MK8DX, while being such a fan favourite for DS.

I love the haunted/mansion tracks so Boo Lake and Broken Pier are both fine. I hope it’s Broken Pier, because that one is more challenging with all the holes in the track. I think it will, because it’s placed after Peach Gardens. I have a feeling Boo Lake would be placed before Peach Gardens in order of challenge.

3DS Rainbow Road is of course legendary and I love Waluigi Stadium! Merry Mountain is obvious, and cute, and I am excited to see it in HD.

The only “meh” choice to me is Alpine Pass. It’s not feeling like a “ending of a cup track” and I fear it’s going to be ugly in the BCP. At least it has a banger song.

We've been fully open in this thread for datamine discussion for months. There's no compelling reason to start spoiler tagging now when the main addition from the most recent round is mainly where tracks fit rather than new courses. We only learned of three new courses and a toss up for a fourth pick. The sixteen(!) other courses and all of the prefixes we've been openly discussing were from the initial round of datamining. We also openly discussed the Wave 2 leak as well so throw Kalimari Desert and Sky High Sundae (minus the name) in the pile of previously openly discussed leaked tracks as well.

Four new? Apart from Peach Gardens and the ghostly GBA track, we knew about the rest from the banner leak, didn’t we?

Merry Mountain and Rock Rock Mountain were not on the banner leak. There was talk early on about Rock Rock maybe being one of them, but consensus changed to being a city track instead.

I ran through all of the Wave 2 tracks on 200 and Sky High Sundae is indeed incredible there. It feels like you are always going to fall off what little ground you have the whole track. Only issue, which it shares on 150, if you get hit by something there’s little room to recover.

Oh yeah. Those two always felt as given. Especially the latter. I was doubting RRM a little bit, but it was still by far the most likely 3DS track.

Completely off-topic, but does anyone else get motion sickness from watching ghost replays? The choppy camera movements hurt my brain

Theme wise, we can pretty safely cross out Mario Circuit, Donut Plains, and Rainbow Road due to redundancy. We can also probably cross out Choco Island, Vanilla Lake, and Ghost Valley due to Choco Mountain, Snow Land, and Boo Lake/Broken Pier, respectively.

That would just leave Koopa Beach and Bowser’s Castle. Given that we only have one more unknown GBA track, we wont be able to cross out both of these themes due to redundancy (can only get one GBA beach track or one GBA Bowser’s Castle at this stage) so it’s probably gonna be one of those two themes. Koopa Beach feels like the likelier choice, but with how wild some of the BCP picks have been so far, Bowser’s Case doesn’t seem that unlikely in all honesty.

not in the patch notes but several people including myself (including more experienced competitive players) noticed the CPUs driving increasingly well with more aggressive & accurate item usage after the update. interesting if the AI systems are still being improved and begs the question why and where these improvements could be being pulled from (Tour, future Kart game?)

I think I noticed this too. I also noticed harder rubber banding I think? Like, I'd get a breakaway and the CPU in 2nd would catch up to me in no time

not sure about rubber banding but they seemed faster around the track and smarter with item usage. and not because we were inexperienced with the new tracks the CPU karts were legitimately better and were causing a lot of trouble.

I don’t think Choco Island is out of the running for the SNES track. The mud lake course is an entirely different hazard compared to Choco Mountain which is focused on falling rocks (that never hit anyone). Regardless we are in an interesting spot for this. For the classic themes something is sadly seemingly getting left out.

The tracks play very differently, yes, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re both Choco themed. I doubt Nintendo would want to have two of those tracks in the BCP, especially since we don’t have a single beach track or Bowser’s Castle track yet.

Here's a compelling reason: Not spoiler-tagging is telling people who just want to talk about the new tracks to GTFO. If someone dipped out of the thread after the first wave, like I did, they remained mostly ignorant of datamined information, and the only way to have two discussions for the two crowds run parallel is for the leaks to disappear behind warning labels at least for the next couple of weeks.

Played a bit this morning and I’ve noticed the CPUs are drafting/slipstreaming way more. Bananas are suddenly way more useful than as just red shell shields haha

Yeah the new courses are excellent. The only one that I don’t overly care for is Snow Land. Otherwise all bangers

Would love some more non-standard SNES tracks to make it in, like the beach, ice or ghost levels. also ds airship fortress ktx

Also, playing online: WALUIGI'S EVERYWHERE

Fuck New York Minute for not removing, or dimming, that final red arrow sign on the third lap when what was formerly a turn is actually a straight. Gets me everytime.

Still gathering my thoughts on all the tracks, but that's a preview I just couldn't hold in a New York minute longer!

I do feel bad for people on this front to an extent (I fundamentally disagree that upcoming track knowledge is or should be a secret), but if you check the threadmarks you can see that we actually had the first leaks before the Wave 1 tracks even unlocked. So during Wave 1 this was already happening here and the discussion has spilled over into other threads numerous times. There’s always been two conversations in this thread ongoing at once for better or worse.

I’m hardly set on the spoiler tag opinion. If it’s something that collectively we need to change even temporarily on wave drops that’s fine (through the first weekend maybe?). I’d rather we settle it now than when future waves drop. This thread is supposed to be fun and welcoming.

I checked the threadmark and people used spoiler tags for at least the next few pages, so everyone could decide for themselves whether upcoming track knowledge should be a secret. It's just fundamental considerateness. And, correct me - in vague, unspecific terms - if I'm wrong but my impression is the new leaks are a lot more precise in what they tell us than the one around Wave 1 which still left room for fun speculation and holding out hope?

in our room yesterday they were even backing shells and consistently getting top 3 finishes amongst a field of high level players. which is pretty much unheard of, lol.

Castle might not be that out of the question actually, the next wave of Mii Suits are both Bowser and Dry Bowser, so we’re definitely getting A Bowser’s Castle next wave, could be SNES for all we know

The two most important ones I’m talking about are directly threadmarked as Leak and the contents are openly displayed in each post. (They aren’t labeled as such, but they are the Prefix and Banner Leaks)

Without going into details from today, the only real difference with today’s leak is we know when specific tracks are exactly dropping. We’ve been actively discussing at least where 16 identified tracks fit in a puzzle of prefixes fully laid out from the start with a few others roped in later.

I’ll take Wave 2 as an example because it is already out. We knew walking in the Turnip Cup would have courses from Tour, SNES, N64, and DS in that order. We knew for example New York Minute and Waluigi Pinball were going to be in the Booster Pass since we had pictures of them. I’m going to make up a number here, but from that initial leak say we knew there were six DS tracks coming. We could until today, only guess from the amount of prefixes and the picture that maybe Waluigi Pinball would slot in here at the end, but we still knew Waluigi Pinball would come.

The difference today (had Waluigi Pinball been in Wave 3) is some of those tracks we now know the exact spot for. But that’s really what I’m pointing out here and what I was trying to say in my initial post. The only real difference between the start of this thread and now is that some courses we know what wave and cup they are dropping. We still largely have the same number of courses to guess as before, the only other difference being Wave 2 released and crossed more off the list (like Waluigi Pinball). Unfortunately, all of Wave 3 minus one course is locked in and that one is a coin flip, but future waves are largely the same speculation we’ve had from the start. There really isn’t much fundamental difference we’ve had from the start of the thread until now because the biggest questions have long been answered at this point between the start and the reveal of Wave 2.

That was what I meant with my initial comment. It wasn’t about excluding people, more just pointing out we are in the same spot we’ve been in so there wasn’t a need to change what we’ve been doing.

But if people feel strongly about it and we change going forward, cool. That’s fine with me. I disagree, but it’s fine.
