Just bought myself some Castlevania goodness!

I hope I'll enjoy it. Never played Castlevania.

This is both true and also makes me feel like I have one foot in the grave…

Well a lot of retro games more than ten years old are still cheap, the problem is that they are either sports games, good games that sold a billion copies or just are complete terrible crap no one wants.

I don’t think it’s similar to now where back then you could just get an amazing rpg that sold like ten copies outside of Japan for dirt cheap. Even on systems from just over a decade ago I think people wised up to that kind of thing.

I have a hard time imagining what on the DS/3Ds, PSP/Vita, 360/PS3/Wii will change. Yes I’m sure the sought after games will only get more sought after as time goes on but the majority I think of what you would really want on those systems is already stupidly expensive and far worse than it was back then where last gen system games were basically worthless.

For all the hardcore, punishing-difficulty fame FromSoft games have, I must confess that I've died more times on the final 3D Land level (Special 8-Crown) than in two entire Dark Souls playthroughs.

exactly, 317 times
Does that mean Super Mario 3D Land is the Dark Souls of the Mario franchise?

I would have always pointed to The Lost Levels in that regard, but I can't disagree with numbers.

Hmm, what's the latest on Life is Strange Remastered for Switch? It's still 2022 I guess, but havnt heard anything in a while?

I've always taken issue with the word "punishing" being used for Fromsoft games. The difficulty in those games is extremely fair, and even more is explicitly part of the gameplay progression. Dying is another way of improving not just your skills as the player but the skills of the player character.

They're hard, but not at all punishing.

Remember when Braid was announced for Switch like 2 years ago?

I remember someone with some weight to their name mentioned some time ago it was silently cancelled.. but since I dont remember who it was and google helps me not I might just have made it up in my head.

My experience with Elden Ring combat is that, excluding the cases where I'm clearly overleveled, I cheese through it around 90% of the time and in the remaining 10% I actually pay attention to how the enemy/boss behaves and learn to beat it properly.

This makes me think of the combat in BotW and how it's not appreciated all that much. Which is justified to some extent, for example the enemies and their attacks could definitely be more varied. What it does do well is that when you think of some weird way to approach a fight, you feel creative and smart instead of being ashamed for not doing it properly.

Slime goes POP!
I have another slime that attacks by inflating the skull shape on its head until it pops, but the whole thing is so quick that it's too hard to really even see what's going on.

But it's fun in concept I guess.

Oh man, you never played any of them? The GBA ones are quite good, not a bad place to start! Which one do you think you'll start with?

Same with me too with Elden Ring! BotW really had some cool things you could do with combat, and hopefully they keep hinging on that type of creativity and openness going forward! I usually more appreciate "patterns" with enemies in games, but the enemies in that game aren't so chaotic with their moves, and they tend to move a bit slower and deliberately, that it works so good!

Also as a big fan of satisfying enemy death animations, this turned out awesome:

That really is satisfying! Super cool project you've got going on, and the design is great!

Oh shit, haha, this is awesome!

Super Boulding Impossibly Leafy Wavy Swoop Pew!

I started with Aria of Sorrow. Appealed the most to me. Really enjoying it!
Aaah, that's a great one to start with! Glad you're enjoying it! The handheld releases on the DS were great too, and hopefully they'll put them out if they can figure out the touchscreen stuff. Really, I think all the handheld ones were phenomenal, haha!

Time to finally download and try out these hot free to play games sweeping the nation, like Multiversus on the XBOX and Fall Guys on the Switch.

I played a few MultiVersus matches last night. My prevailing thought after playing it is “wow, Smash Ultimate really was extremely well crafted” if that tells you anything

I should probably take a break right?

Or maybe instead I should make a harpy.

Yes, in case you're wondering, I did take an unrelated character model, stick a crow skeletal mesh with a flapping animation on her back, replace her lower legs with chicken feet, cut off a griffon's claws and paste them over her hands, cut off his beak and put it on her nose, then stick a bull skull on her head for good measure because why not.

I bet we see the Xenoblade X series return in 2024, to whatever machine we’re using at the time.

So here's something neat: Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (aka Sherlock Holmes vs the Cthulhu Mythos) is getting a full-blown remake and, according to several websites that reported on this, it's coming to Switch among other platforms.

I played the original back when it released and I remember loving it, so I'm looking forward to this.

The MC Switch numbers are pretty high. Curious if they'll sky rocket with XB3 numbers.
Xenoblade doesn’t really move hardware at least yet and the console has already got two games from the series so fans should already be in. There will probably be a rise in sales but nothing major especially because there is no LE bundle. A big boost should happen soon because holiday season in Japan though
