News PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC announced, coming August 26 to all platforms

Reminds me of that Wario World game I loved during my younger days for the GameCube.

Ms. Pac-Man is dead, long live Ms. Pac-Man.

I guess the one-two punch of Museum+ and this is Namco's way of trying to both capture nostalgia and refresh the brand in the wake of the AtGames lawsuits. I'm intrigued but not exactly hyped, ya know?
Pacmom looking good as always
Brock, you have many wild opinions, but this is too far. Pac-Mom is garbage. Give her a nose, damn it! And why are her limbs so damn skinny?? She's a cheap replacement and she always will be.
they fixed her eyes!
If that's a fix then it is irreparable. Those eyes are weird! Why doesn't she have Pac-Man style eyes??

This was a game that I played a lot, so it's a very exciting announcement!

Interesting that Pac-man's family changed like Pac-Man Museum+ had made them, though I am not sure if Professor Pac and the dog retained the same design (they look pretty much the same).

The HUD looks like it's always showing. I wonder if they can be hidden away if it's not changed (like the PACMAN letters), since the original will hide them when they are not required.

Thank you for reading.

Official Trailer
Official Trailer - game's coming out for everything.

Wow, it's the same awkward announcer from the Pac-Man Museum+ trailer, I guess he's the Pac-Man go to guy now. And speaking of Museum+, I would be surprised if it wasn't the same dev team on Re-Pac, at least the one that handled the arcade portion. I even see that the Carnival plush doll hazard was used in Museum+, let alone the character models and animations.

Neat to see the new logo evoke Pac-Man World 2 and 3 with the angled fonts.

You know, now that I think about it, Bandai Namco could have taken the route of combining Re-Pac and Museum+ into one 60 dollar game instead of two games that total to 60 dollars. The original World had Pac-Man arcade as a bonus - the option to go to the arcade could have replaced it. I suppose it's nicer on a consumer end, let's you get what you want, and maybe a high price would've killed the launch. Just a thought.

I actually picked up the original Pac-Man World on the Vita and played it for the first time this year. It definitely has a lot of fun aspects marred by bizarre difficulty spikes caused by an apparently rushed playtesting phase in development. If this fixes some of the frustrating levels like Anubis Rex and Spin Dizzy, it could be quite a solid 3D platformer.

Now the question is where's the cat?

Thank you for reading.

I wonder if they will ever do Miss Pac Man Maze Madness with this new replacement for Her
That would also be swell for me, but I have to wonder how important Ms. Pac-Man is to the game since the game did star her as the main character. Would it be effective of a draw if it's not starring the main character of the game?

Thank you for reading.

So, is this supposed to be great ? Never played the Pacman World series.
God tier design for Pacman though, my man looks great.

Well they sure do love doing pac man double pacs, so I'm sure we'll see it!

I haven’t played this one, but World 2 on GameCube is a great little platformer.

This at least gives context to why they created pac mom, since in this game her usage makes a bit more sense set into the family. It's a bit of a shame of a decision since she's not marketable / able to carry a game her own / able to be an icon equal to pacman for those who prefer a more feminine avatar... but at least it makes a bit more sense now lol

I just am glad we have the professor and pooka untouched

I had the GBA version of this one, and then played Pac Man World 2 on Xbox or Gamecube and skipped 3. Can't wait to dive back in.

Big sonic generations vibes with that birthday cutscene.

Revisiting the series with a series of retrospectives from one of my favorite YT channels!

The direct was worthy just because of that. Loved this game on PS1, gives me such good memories.

So I'm guessing this was the 3D Remaster/Remake that Bandai-Namco was putting up job listings for?
It wasn't, the job listing was for a Nintendo contract work this isn't a contract work for Nintendo considering is multiplatform and Nintendo lack of stake on the game.

Ahhh okay. I wasn't sure if this was an exclusive or not. The whole marketing thing of not mentioning other platforms in the Direct, etc. Thanks for clarifying!

So absolutely no one had this on their prediction list right

It is pretty nice to see one of these games finally on modern consoles, hope the sequels follow.

I want 2 but iirc 3 was outsourced and not up to snuff… anyone have any positive memories of it?
It was...a weird game. More surreal and dreary in its locations, with more of a combat focus. And a much more in-depth story with lots of actually pretty solid voice acting. I never beat it, though. A remake could polish it up, but I don't know how they'll handle the tone and story.

While rewatching the Re-Pac trailer, I had a few thoughts:
  • Hey, this game did something that years of Intellivision Amico pandering could not - it made Tommy Tallarico truly relevant in the modern era (he composed the original game).
  • ...hey, wait a minute, this soundtrack heavily references the music from Ms. Pac-Man. The title screen music, for instance, is a remix of Ms. Pac-Man's "They Meet" cutscene, and that track is used in the trailer. Does Bandai Namco own the music to Ms. Pac-Man? Or do they have to pay royalties to AtGames if the Ms. Pac-Man music is remixed?

How are Pacman games sales nowadays ? Actually I only know it sold millions during the early 80's and that's it.

Are you referring to the main theme of beloved arcade game Pac-Mom?
