EDIT: I missed the poll question and now realize this was about sales and not "which is better". I'm still leaving this picture here though because it's funny.

Yes! But if it’s sold as a physical trilogy compilation, it only counts as one overall sale for the trilogy, not three separate copies sold.
gotcha..... could be closer then but I'm still gonna say New Horizons.

Animal Crossing is aiming for 45-50 millions.

Meanwhile its probable each FFVIIR part sells less than its previous iteration.

With potential re-releases for nintendo or microsoft consoles I can see FFVIIR1 selling around 10 millions, or a little more.

Then each afterwards part selling less, so I think the whole trilogy can sell around 20-25 millions.

New Horizons has already sold 38.6 million and will easily eclipse 42 to 45 million. Even if every single one of them sold 13 million they wouldn't pass it.

I feel the same as IlikeFeet.
This kind of thread lead to warring. It's not the community we want to create and foster here

I'd be amazed if Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy manages to do 30 million with the combined sales of each. So ACNH easily does better. Final Fantasy VII Remake is apparently still between 5 and 6 million. Steam could definitely push it past 6 million though.

EDIT: I love both games btw. Looking forward to seeing what Rebirth does.

If you want to make a battle of juggernauts, lets make…

Pokémon vs Call of Duty (units and revenue).

I think COD wins but has the advantage of a bigger installbase.

Tis not looking good for our spikey haired friend

Edit: tho I guess if all 3 parts were to be released on every single platform under the sun (including mobile and future platforms via remasters and collections), it could happen eventually I think

Units CoD wins, revenue console game it should also (Pokemon used to be 30-40$) but if we count mobile games it gets quite muddy due to Pokemon GO (even if CoD mobile is really popular)

If we count everything related not only videogames, Pokemon wins without having to put any effort

I don’t know. I think Part 2 will vastly outsell part 1. But all together it ain’t gonna get near Animal Crossing

part 2 will sell less than remake, and 3 will sell less than part 2, so it's statistically impossible for the trilogy to sell more than NH.

How often does a sequel(if Rebirth can be considered that) sell more than the first or previous game, especially if they’re release only a few years from one another <4 years?

As far as I know it’s kinda rare, and even assuming all parts of the remake sell about 10 million it will be still somewhat short compared to how much ACNH sold.

Yakuza 2 > 1 iirc but yes is really uncommon, it tends to happen with niche franchise breaking through or a change of arcs.

I know it's a joke thread, but FF7R parts 2/3 are unlikely to outsell the first game. Direct sequels tend to sell to the established audience of the first game. The established audience of the first game is... some number less than 100% of the people who bought it.

Counting original releases alone, FF7R trilogy combined will struggle to sell half of what New Horizons does. The only advantage FF7R trilogy has here is inevitable bundles and re-releases running up the score, but it won't be anywhere near enough. Sky's really the limit on this one. They're already releasing Remake for the third time and part 2 isn't even out yet.

I completely checked out on the fan base reaction to this game, but anectdotally some of my friends were definitely turned off by the narrative diversions or the action-RPG mechanics. So totally agree the target audience for both games is going to be below the sales of the first installment.

Meanwhile ACNH is a Nintendo evergreen and will keep selling like another 1-3 million in the time it takes Rebirth to ship 😂
