I really hope we get to see it on the 29th, it sounds intruiging, but I feel like I need to see a trailer to really get an idea of how it all comes together

I played Awakening for 2 hours and fell off pretty quick and hard. The gameplay was really fun but unfortunately the stories and characters aren't to my liking.

Really happy for the fans tho.

I know and understand all that, but there could be many other reasons. Spla3 could've always be planned for late August or early September. We could get 1 or 2 more games announced for September in the next Direct and those are the reasons XC3 was pushed forward. They might've announced it for September, because of the SE goodies, but pushed it forward for some reason other than Spla3 and decided to send those goodies out later. Nintendo has a say in when their games release, but not so much when it comes to production pipelines. Etc.

The last sentence is all I wanted to hear. 😉

Hello everyone! I figured it was finally time to make an account after lurking for so long. I look forward to future conversations!

I always play caution to directs and never expect much. Whenever anything Zelda is part of a direct, I’m more then satisfied. Just a trailer for BOTW2 or a long rumored port would would be my direct wish. I think it’s safe to say one or both of those will happen.

Hopefully the direct wait isn’t too much longer! (Going off conversations from the last couple of days)

Tbh I think it’s more probable for them to skip on the new FE than BotW2… (as much as I would prefer the first one)

BotW2 needs to be revealed. They can announce the date later but we HAVE TO see a proper trailer with a title now.
I understand that covid affected them, but way too much time has passed from the reveal now. They have to share something meaty.

Yeah. What I'm curious about is how important or central are the past fire emblem characters to the plot or if it's just a gameplay gimmick.

Don't worry, there are a ton of new characters. You can summon past characters from FE history, but past characters aren't the majority of the cast.



To be clear, my sources aren't making any assumptions. This game has been finished since late last year.

A possible theory on why they might be sitting on this game: Post-launch DLC.

Nah. I’m more concerned about the implementation. Fire Emblem will always have a big new cast. But summon past heroes is scaring when they’re not the best writers lol. I’m thinking maybe the past heroes summons might be related to one specific Fire Emblem game and it’s the great great ancestors? I don’t but if it’s all Fire emblem games characters that can be summoned. I’ll be worried. But if it’s just “only the cast of Binding Blade” can be summon then I’ll be more optimistic

Given that Emily said the majority of the cast is new characters, I imagine it'll be relatively minimal in the plot

I am actually kinda surprised that NIntendo never does the showreel at the end of what was actually announced at the Direct, they do these in the Minis but not in the Generals.

I'm curious if Byleth and Shez being fully voice acted in Three Hopes could hint at the next player character in a mainline FE being fully voice acted as well. I wouldn't even mind if they made them into full characters with a specific name, because then the awkwardness of the player character never being called by name would be avoided.
(I actually don't mind silent protagonists, but I prefer when they at least somewhat show emotions.)

Someone on this forum (I don't remember who) said that from a technical viewpoint, they could probably have an acceptable native version of DL2 given how well DL1 looked like. I'm not really versed in this sort of technicalities, but there seems to be a possibility that the cloud version was cancelled in favor of a native port.

I think that The Champions Ballad will be added to NSO + Expansion Pack after the Direct. The same way how Octo Expansion was added when Splat3 release date was announced.
 
Man, does kinda suck that today would’ve been the day, this has been such a weird gaming news season, if E3 really is gone for good, this is gonna take some time to get used to

I've been asking for this for years. Much better idea than any other potential FE spinoffs.

But I want only Awakening characters, that's the most diverse roster of all recent Emblems. I mean, Fates and Three Kingdoms don't even rabbit people in it. Or Vaike.

We've got the date for June 2022 Direct ahead of us for one whole year. Nintendo is crazy with these hints.

Everything Nate has teased about the upcoming Fire Emblem game has been accurate.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened actually. Does anybody know if Dying Light Platinum Edition sold well on the Switch? If so, I think we have a chance to see 2 getting native ported.
I have yet to play it, but from the DF review alone... They made a fantastic job. I think they could've done the same with 2, but wanted to release it day and date with the other versions. Now that it wasn't possible with cloud, I think it's possible they've canned it in favor of a native port.

Neat idea, but wrong crossover. What I meant is a Fire Emblem fighting game. Characters from all FE games. Yes, all of them. TMS as well. Fully implemented class system. Maybe have a separate RPG mode. Definitely have a ton of story cutscenes. Have a tag team/support mechanic. Basically, just go nuts with it.

Just wanted to chime in thanking Emily (and Nate) for the info. Three Houses was my first Fire Emblem, I am obsessed with it and I'm excited for the next one. Hope it wasn't a fluke, but since then I played Triangle Strategy and loved it, so I guess SRPGs are my wheelhouse after all.

The consensus I keep seeing is that it was concept art put together for hiring purposes, like "come work at MonolithSoft, we make neat stuff like this" but was never really its own project.

I don't want to believe that, but that's what I keep seeing people say.

you'll get it on the 29th, coincidentally that date is also the day the region countdown TPC has been doing reaches gen 9, which does not have a region name yet. Hence a direct trailer

Even if we get another "avatar" character (which imo is pretty likely—red and blue hair w/ dragon mom sounds exactly like what an avatar character would be like lol), I think it's incredibly likely they'll be like Shez: you can only change their gender and not their appearence similar to Byleth, but they actually talk and have a personality lol. Shez being the way they are in all honesty is probably (at least partially) a reaction to the criticism of Byleth being silent, so it'd make sense that they would do the same for the actual mainline game as well.
