as someone who hasn’t played it, I’ve wanted to start with the earlier entries so I actually wouldn’t be mad
If you haven't played any of them, I think that's the move. Going back after playing P5R really hurts due to the QoL improvements and everything else it has. Then again, P5R is also the most accessible and most modern-feeling game with the most polish, so... I guess it can't hurt either way.

I’ve heard P3P is an inferior version, but zero complaints about P4G so I think I’ll start with that one

And yeah, in terms of QOL, I played FF7-9 on original hardware for the first time in like 2016 and loved them, so I’m not too worried on that front haha

Okay, then you're probably good! P4G is a great starting point. I haven't actually played Persona 3, though, as a disclaimer, just 4 and 5. So I'm going on most of the same same things you are when it comes to that game. I'm looking forward to playing it for the first time, too.

I'm curious why no Persona 5 Royal port to Switch when its PS3 in mind, in fact, SMTV is more advanced iirc than Persona 5 (its hilarious that most avanced Atlus game is from Switch lol).

I know its a little more difficult to port something from PS3 than from PSP or Vita, but its also the most popular title out of the three, the most modern one and also its main character is in smash + a sequel on switch.

I still don't get it.

Random thought, but is Persona the biggest series with the most ignored original entries? Lol. I know the first two games aren’t particularly good but I can’t think of another video game franchise where it’s almost universally agreed upon that the series really “started” with the third entry. Near literally no one even acknowledges the first two games.

Sounds about right that Royal won’t be in switch. Cause I don’t think they’ll add vanilla 5.

Maybe in the future switch.

Anyways. Put Strange Journey on switch instead. Or SMTIV

Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

  • Upcoming Fire Emblem is a new game, not a remake. Brand new story.
  • Collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust (division of Koei Tecmo Holdings).
  • Gust heavily assisted with the visuals / graphics. Graphics are an improvement over "Three Houses".
  • Originally intended as an anniversary game to celebrate FE's 30th anniversary. The game has been finished for over a year.
  • Main character (main lord) has strange red and blue hair. His mother is a dragon.
  • New "Emblems" gimmick allows players to summon "FE characters from the past" for your squad.

I don't plan to share any more details about this game.

Many months ago, @NateDrake teased about "red and blue".
Everything Nate has teased about the upcoming Fire Emblem game has been accurate.
Please be kind to Nate. His information is good, and he cares about the Nintendo fan community.
This sounds great!

Street Fighter will always win that fight.

But Persona 2 does have its fans. Innocent Sin wasn’t too bad when I played it years ago. Granted I’m more aware of identifying problematic issues then I was long ago so I’m not sure if it had issues

Where did I miss confirmation of a M+R 2 showing + date reveal?
What Nate said; it’s just a given that it’ll show up there.

Also the date is out there in certain circles. It’s an Ubisoft game, so leaks really shouldn’t be much of a surprise, lol. I won’t be the one to say it but it’ll definitely publicly leak before they get to reveal it.

It’ll be the December game.
It isn’t.

I've had Persona 5 Royal since Christmas 2020 and have yet to play it. I did play through most of the original Persona 5 though I never finished.

Thanks for confirming it’s not the December title. That’s all I wanted.

As in, the date is out in journalist circles, or it's out on the old world wide web?

My guess would be that FE is the December game in that case, though it could also be something out of left field

From what I understand, Persona 2 actually has a legit gay romance option in it - and the characters don't make a big deal out of it, either. I have no idea how much the game holds up in general, as I haven't played it, but it is interesting to me that that was thing back then

If you can answer this, did it get delayed?

Yo how Nintendo gonna show all these games without a Treehouse- Bayonetta 3, Mario + Rabbids, Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, Tactics Ogre. This is prime for some nice treehouse

It's developed by the same Kou Shibusawa team as the first Fire Emblem Switch game. Gust provided assistance on improving the visuals and aesthetic of the engine. To reiterate what I said before, it's a collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust (visuals).

Thanks to Gust, the character models are significantly improved.
In all honestly. The characters models were fine. It was everything outside of that felt lacking lol.

Wonder what animations they’ll use this time. They’ve used 3 different styles last few entries

I think Assassin’s Creed could fit in this category. No one talks about the first or even cares about it. Set the formula up but 2 really was the start of the franchise in most respects.

The first Ass Creed game sold really really well and Altair is still a popular protagonist of the series. The hype for 2 was massive because of the attention the first game got, despite its flaws. 1 is the start of the franchise is most respects, not 2.

I think it mostly has to do with the file size. Atlus doesn't want to release a physical game that requires a partial download, but also doesn't want to pay for a 32 GB cartridge that could fit Royal.

I could see Fire Emblem being revealed this month but I'm not sure on a 2022 release. I'd love it if it does make it out, though it's not like we'll be short of options I suspect.

I would almost say Final Fantasy, except that FF1 is still pretty well known and gets a lot of love and ports and such. FF2 and FF3, though, aren't very well known or talked about (mostly in the west, granted). There's still definitely a pretty strong feeling among FF fans that the series really got its starting point and established so much of what the series would really become with FF4.

Can't wait for the announcement.

I suppose. Maybe it’s just that I found the first one so dull and repetitive and 2 was better in every respect and just massive.

I'm starting to think either Metroid Prime or Windwaker/Twilight Princess (or both) won't make it out this year. There's no way it's this easy to guess the lineup for the rest of the year. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

While I don’t love M+R2 being associated with Ubisoft

it does mean some of their devs are free from being turned into a support studio for assassins creed

and we can secure a copy for $20 within 4-6 months

so, ill take it

I thought the original was boring as well but the core of everything that the franchise is is in that game. The whole animus concept started in that. The Iconic(TM) white cloak design. The hidden. Heck, much of the Ubisoft open world formula has its routes in that first game.

An aside, I'm disappointed that the series never returned to that setting outside of a PSP game I think. It was incredible exploring Jerusalem and Damascus.
