This game looks like so much fun, and the personality at play here is amazing. Seriously, go watch some newly released gameplay and you’ll see so many unique beautiful little animations. I can’t wait!!

Just tried the tutorial. Really enjoying the movement and gameplay. Hope I can be a part of a Club of players that accept the kit being green :B.

I am actually really interested in this game despite not being a fan of soccer at all...I'm just worried that there won't be enough for me to do. I know that matches are short, but I have two babies in the house, so online gaming isn't really a thing for me right now. It doesn't look like there's very much there besides the cups for offline single-player. Even some sort of achievement or challenge problem (score three goals in a game as Mario, tackle 100 opponents as Wario, etc.) would add some reason to keep playing quick matches or something.

Man I wish you could just play alone. People always wanna score instead of pass around and people keep skipping the goal/victory animations which I wanted to see.

I tried one match and couldn't do it. There's way too many characters on the screen moving around at once and I can't tell where my character is. It doesn't help that you change characters sometimes. It's way too chaotic for my brain to handle. This really sucks.

Second match 6-0 loss. I feel that playing with randos in the same team is not ideal. Against ok, but in the same team without being able to communicate is not the best. Also sometimes it is bad to identify your number above the player head.

I think forcing you to play with another person kind of ruined this demo.

No Lucas, throwing the ball literally back to our goal isn't going to work for 7th time in a row.

Also I have never played a game that is so hard to control. The way the player system works is kind of busted. Mario Strikers on GameCube kind of feels so much better, and I don't get why.

It was a good chance, but I don't think I will get this one. I had a bit of fun though

So, other players left my last match in the beginning and I just played alone and the game became much much better

Yea, going 2v2 for the demo/stress test was a bad idea. 99.9% of the people playing this game at the moment (myself included) have not played a Mario Strikers game in over a decade, if ever. There is virtually no way to communicate, and we generally don't have a clue what we are doing to begin with.

I wish there was a way to demo 1v1 and 4v4 because I feel like there is a better way to play this game.

I attempted to “play” a few matches, but I was utterly confused the entire time. I keep losing track of who I am controlling and the game keeps stuttering and lagging out every time the ball was kicked, and I don’t know - I just feel that this was a turn off for me even though I thought the Tutorial felt really good. I have good internet too, so it’s not that I don’t think? I don’t know - did anyone have similar issues?

I did not enjoy that, but I was on tabletop.

It ran fine, but the sprites are way too small off-TV.

There is also a lot of visual clutter. When three players in the same area are all charging a tackle, for example, it looks a mess.

I still scored a goal tho.

I've had only one match with a lot of stuttering, the one where some players left right at the start (it was unplayable) and it became a great 1vs1 after that. Another game there where moments of lag, but most of the matches I've played I had no connection issues, just the 2vs2 issues which was a dumb idea.

A lot of people leave before the match even starts too
But…it’s really difficult to keep track of who is who when playing with a teammate

I can’t even tell who has the ball sometimes

the sprites are way too small

There is also a lot of visual clutter.

All that, yeah. I can't remember playing a game this atrocious in readibility.

And I'll add the controls that feel so sluggish I sometimes couldn't tell for a while who I am in control of even when I move up and down and do specific moves to help me tell. It might, might, might work if teams were four players with each in control of one character (and it'd help with me CPU seemingly keeping no positional discipline whatsoever, so picking the right stats for striker/winger/defender roles is out the window) but then the connection already had issues with 2 vs 2 and me being ethered in.

I'll give the game more chances on the upcoming test hours but so far I'm heavily unsold.

That demo left a sour taste, way too much going on and hard to figure out which character you are controlling. Also pretty sure there were either framerate drops or online related lag in handheld, 'specially once items starting getting tossed around. Game is pretty at least.

This demo cemented my feelings that I vastly prefer Strikers as a single-player experience. I'm still going to get the game at some point as I love the game itself, but the multiplayer, at least with another person on my team, is just not good.

I think the issue is that the fields are way too small and the camera is way too zoomed in. Going back and looking at Strikers Charged everything is a lot larger and readable. The ball is too small in Battle League too, it feels a lot more visible in Charged. This is gonna be a hard pass from me. Super disappointing.

Damn this legit just sucks.

Add another to the pile of Nintendo’s lackluster sports games.

Yeah I shouldn't have watched Strikers Charged gameplay. It looks so much better it's insane. What the hell Nintendo.

How did you have those big numbers showing in the players head? In my game it was small circles for the left side team and small diamonds for the right one. Both the icon and the number with the same color (one lighter the other darker).

By the way, some people are already really good, my first match the player in my team could score from almost anywhere using perfect curve balls (the player name was TJ, was it you @TJTree ?)

Apparently there's some settings you can toggle to make things easier to see, I'm going to try those tomorrow. If they don't work it's a hard pass.

Terrible first impression. 2v2 was like the worst setting for online play they could've picked for the demo.

1v1 would at least give you full control of the team, or 4v4 would simplify it to knowing who your 1 character is.

Here I pass the ball and I can't anticipate if I'm switching to the receiving character or if instead it's my team mate. Plus the numbers highlighting your character don't pop enough so I would spend a lot of time scanning the screen or spamming L to switch. It's information overload and it's disorientating.

So...uh...I had fun? I don't really feel like mentioning it because I don't want to come accross as a shill but...uh...I had a lot of fun?

...yeah another game which I like that everyone despises that I am not alowed to talk on the internet because I just have my gameplay wires crossed or something...

Jesus! I forgot about this demo tonight but… these impressions… oh no!

I didn't have a chance to play it, but the gamexplain and goodvibes gaming streams both seemed like a lot of fun, if a bit chaotic, first impression. The online play itself seemed pretty smooth as well.
