Looks like there's some kind of beacon past the tree and ridge on the right of the Feris.

Yeah we've been seeing other beacons like that in some of the more recent footage. I'm guessing it might be some form of collection point? If they have both styles of art recharging maybe they also have both styles of collectibles.

I don't know it it's just me but that gameplay screenshot looks pretty clean resolution/sharpness wise?
Looks really solid! I saw the DRS doing it's usual thing during big lighting moments in the trailer cutscenes but really into how the gameplay is looking. I'm playing DE just now which is obviously an old game at this point but 3 looks really good in comparison. Just the whole graphical package is looking lovely.

I think if we do end up getting a blog post this week it'll probably cover more complex combat mechanics (as opposed to the previous "basics of combat"). Stuff like Interlink, Fusion Arts, and Chain Attacks

This may be anecdotal but the hype I see around me in real life is giving me the impression that this game is going to be huge. Last time I saw hype like that for a JRPG it was Octopath Traveler and that game did very well.

"huge" in this case is very relative. OT did 1M between 3 systems. for this, I think it would be "huge" if it breaks 3M

I'm pretty sure Octopath Traveler did one million on the Switch alone which is pretty good for a new RPG with no legacy behind it.

Octopath technically did worse than XC2, so Octopath level sales would honestly probably be a mild disappointment here (though still very good for a game like Octopath)

If the game turns out as good as it looks I could see it breaking 3M, maybe.

Edit: Apparently I was very wrong about how much Octopath sold

Whaaaaa? Pretty sure Square-Enix put Octopath at 2.5 million units last time they reported on them.

I also dare say the sales of the years late ports to Xbone and Stadia were probably negligible

Yeah, Octopath sold more than 2.5 million copies.

3 million LTD is my safe expectation for XC3, 4 million if it reviews really well around 90MC.

??

Octopath did 2.5 million as of a while ago just on Switch + PC

Another new English version of a previous clip! They're clearly rerecording these since this one is noticeably different again from the Japanese version (a lot more zoomed out for one)

Didn't notice anything too interesting. It's a better look at this area (seems to be one of, if not the first big area in the game), and man does it look pretty huge. Also, English battle dialogue! Lanz is just Reyn 2.0 it seems and that's great

HAMMERHEAD

Ahem

Glad to see that the battle callouts are as glorious as ever.
Hm something I realized is that we're going to have all 6 characters able to call out every single art

We'll be able to hear HAMMERHEAD in 6 different (at least) voices! Provided other characters won't just have some other line for it.

Yea, I really like Lanz's voice. I can't get a good feel on Noah though, of course it's too early to judge.

Is that Taion at the end saying hazy something? I guess that's the name of his evasion ring art. Hazy Picture?

edit: Whoah, joveroy's right, that is one of the guideposts! Good eye!

We have a snippet of the unique battle music, it's flute based as well:

Enemies can attack in multiples! For strong enemies like unique monsters, it is recommended to lure them in one at a time!

Arts are more powerful than Auto Attack. Once you use an Art, you cannot use it for a while until the gauge fills up. It is important to use Arts effectively!

The unique battle theme snippet sounds so good.

Also, seems there will be no pattern for the blog posts and they will just post them randomly.

I really like the voices we’ve heard so far - though I’d like to hear more of Noah.

Taion sounds older than 18 to me (Eunie too) but who cares!

Lanz sounds like a real winner so far.

Mio… well, Mio sounds Welsh so I, an Englishman with an affection for the Welsh accent, approves.

Hope we get a northern English voice in there, even if it’s our lord and salvager Rex.

There's my boy, big yellow crystal monster looking like a heisei era kaiju

The "Mirik Plain," where Noah and his friends visit, is a vast grassland with a river flowing through it. The waterside is inhabited by native creatures, and there are plant-like enemies that attack out of the blue, so you have to be careful! The rich nature here is very relaxing!
The Eagles Wilderness is a desert area with sandstorms. It is a bit of a difficult environment for Noah and his friends, and it makes me want to go to an oasis and play in the water. I've seen something like a giant mechanical finger somewhere before...!

Unique tombstones from 2 are back thankfully

I want one as a pet.

I'm been noticing a lot of sheer vertical sections that seem like they should be accessible at the top but without any sort of ramp or other way to access them.. Could just be that we have a more reliable/useful jump in general this time around, or we might get some form of ground transportation that gives us a better jump. Or it's nothing and we (or just me, I could easily be missing things) can't see the access points from these screenshots

Anyways, areas look freakin' gorgeous and really fun to explore

I still believe an airship is happening.

In one of the plains shots, there's some red glowys that look like those field checks in 2 where you went on the scent of a trail of red footsteps. So we possibly have field skill retuning in some form. Or it could just be one of the hundred different item types this game apparently has.

I've also been wondering if the yellowy grass plains and the area with the darker more Xenoblade 2 like grass will be treated as separate areas with their own music. The weird thing is the Gormott spines are in the yellowy grass area instead of the area with grass that actually looks like Gormott grass.

Seems we'll have access to both these areas fairly early in the game, which is interesting. We've seen clips of the party at lvl 12 in Milik and lvl 13 in Eagus. That feels a bit early to have simultaneous access to two seemingly large regions, for a numbered Xenoblade game at least

Where do you see those?? By the way, thanks for sharing the updates!!

I'd say the red things are most likely the important quest items.

Oh yeah, that looks good. Still curious that they are only showing clear daytime shots.

As for places that may seem unaccessible on foot from screenshots - could just be a perspective thing where it's actually possible on foot from another direction.

I think an airship-like vehicle will be available later in the game but I don't think we've seen much of anything that says there will be one. I'd also expect later areas to make actual use of an airship unlike early ones which actually may not indicate any existence of an airship.

I think it’s clear as day the level design in this game is as close to Xenoblade X as we’ve ever seen. We already saw the boat. You know there’s tons of stuff we don’t know about this game.

How to explore this world is being kept secret. Be it mechs or airships or something, we’ll definitely be traversing in more ways than one imo

I don't think there will be pilotable mechs but I actually really hope there aren't any.

Mechs essentially destroyed the level design and the fun of traversing a new area (as well as old ones to a lesser extent) in XCX for me because there was almost no reason to get out of the mech other than going into the occasional cave. While for example Cauldros was more designed around mechs, there was clearly still lots and lots of interesting level design on-foot that no one ever experienced because you could fly over and drive by everything.

A boat and a late-game airship would be enough and much more apt for a game world that has great and inventive world level design as it is the case with the XC series. Airships and boats would act more as travel vessels to general zones where you have to get out and actually still walk the part as they can't just land/park on any pixel in the game world.

Is it just me or these screenshots are much sharper than XC2? Possibly higher resolution or sharper AA?
They have a cleaner IQ for sure. I guess the question is if it reflects the final game?

It seems to me the geometry is lower than Xeno2. To accomodate for a bigger world?
The paths also seems really large and flat, I think there's gonna be car traversal or something.

So if my eyes are seeing these environment screenshots right, these actually look like screenshots (minus UI) vs the down-sampled press screenshots from XBC: DE? It's clear that the images are not 4k downsamples compared to XBDE, some objects have visible aliasing and overall the image isn't quite as sharp. If these are actual gameplay screenshots, then that's mighty fine

I've noticed this as well. And the lod poly reduction of some.... Indeterminably far away masses makes for some very massive structures, that are still visible, but visibly low poly.

Even More than vehicle traversal.....

This is giving me the feeling we are going to be seeing very very very large scale real time movement and animation in this game.

Like, mechonis moving and the awakening of bionis and titans moving in the background of 2, that wasn't nothin.
