Ohohoho, you made a Prime Real MISTAKE challenging me to a game of undesirable outcomes!
See, I could live with having to forgo some games — but having those series’ best disappear forever from my devices? Unacceptable! And even then, the two I want more than anything are Silksong and BotW2. So I’m gonna beat you at your own game.
1. I put ₽5,000 down on the garage for Silksong… and access to all non-listed indie games.
2. I fire up Baba Is You. Because, you know, BABA is you, right? So I use the level editor to create a legally-binding ruleset and shift it to say “Baba Is Wrong.” We resettle the terms of the Barely Able Building Associates contract in court. Because the contract had a typo. You were off by a zero. I get ₽500,000.
3. With my remaining ₽495,000, I get to work.
Kitchen (₽50,000) — I get BotW2 and access to all of the other Zeldorp games I have and enjoy.
Master Baths (₽90,000) — Snagging Splatoon 3, Pokémon Legends Arceus, and Pokémon Salt or Vinegar. I am willing to sacrifice my access to the Xenoblade series. I might be willing to drop Legends for mainline, but I don’t know enough yet to make that call.
Standard Baths (₽40,000) — Kirby + Dragon Quest III HD-2D (because I’m curious and I don’t want to lose access to DQ Builders!)
Though if I’m thinking about it really hard… I do thoroughly enjoy that Kirby exists, and had a good time with Lando Forgor… but would I sacrifice the Kirby series for the greater good? I like it a lot but in the desolate world of these circumstances, maybe I don’t need it. Except Air Ride. And it’s been so long now, maybe I can let the puffball go…
Game Room (₽30,000) — Curiosity compels me to go for Live A Live, Sonic Frontiers, and Klonoa… but something… something’s wrong… and those series would not be huge losses to me.
Home Gym (₽5,000) — I’ve been waiting for Switch Sports for so long, and I’m so glad it’s finally here…
Lounge (₽30,000) — Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart. (…)
Garage (₽10,000) — Adding OMORI and Sea of Stars to my Silksong order.
Landscaping (₽5,000) — I love all my old NSO games… and there are so many I haven’t gotten to play yet… I can’t lose access to all of them on all systems forever… right?
4. I have most of what I want at ₽265,000… but at what cost?
5. All alone on my plateau of greed, I begin to re-evaluate my priorities.
I drop Pokémon Legends (₽30,000) and choose to believe in the future of mainline. My hopes shall ride on Pokémon Sus & Veritas.
And I love Splatoon (₽30,000). I’m so excited for 3. And I want to play online with friends… I even now ostensibly have friends on the internet who play Nintendo games! But…
I say a tearful goodbye to Kirby (₽20,000) and a not-tearful “bing bong, fuck ya life” to Dragon Quest (₽20,000).
Live A Live, Klonoa, and Sonic have gotta go… fast (₽30,000).
As long as I have Ring Fit, I can let Switch Sports (₽5,000) go. Thanks for the memories.
I don’t… I don’t need a new Donkey Kong (₽10,000). I’m keeping NSO, but I think this means I lose the SNES Donkey Kong Country games, which were integral to me keeping it together during my childhood. I have the memories. Maybe that’s enough.
Here’s the hardest one… I either need to let go of Mario Kart or Metroid. Would I still be allowed to play Mario Kart at friends’ places? Because that’s the best way to play it. And do I lose access to all Metroid, or just Metroid Prime? I would keep Mario Kart for playing with friends, even though my partner and I still aren’t going to be able to have people over for years… but there are still other (less good) weird racing games. But no other game is like Metroid Prime. And I don’t want to give up all Metroid. One of these two (₽10,000) will go.
I’ll let OMORI (₽5,000) and Sea of Stars (₽5,000) go too — having both Silksong and every non-listed Indie game will carry me for a long long time.
6. There! Now for the low low price of ₽100,000, I get Zelda, Silksong, most Indie Games, Pokémon, a deflated NSO, and either Metroid OR Mario Kart depending on how hopeful I am about the future. Leaning pretty Metroid today, though.
Plus everything not mentioned, which appears to include mainline Mario!
Put another way… either ₽50,000 for Zelda or ₽50,000 for the non-Zelda path.
7. I establish the Suswave’s Money for Ur Renovations Fund (SMURF) with the remaining ₽400,000 — all users can apply for grants to renovate their dream homes in accordance with the BABA settlement terms!
now that’s what I call winning, shitposting, textwalling, and grinchhearting all in the same post!
