Oh hey, I drive a Grand Prix, I love Cloud Atlus, and I don’t hate Carly Rae Jepson. Also I have an Australian Shepherd named Sydney. I like Sonic ok. But Xenoblade is out, sorry fam.
This is where we find out all the Famiboards members are just clones of each other with slight variations like Orphan Black

I see I missed the overnight CRJ love. New single out this Friday!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 👀 I missed the news, but I am so stoked!

Fantastic OP @Barely Able, well done!

This house renovation is going to take me some time to think about. Zelda is unquestionably my favorite franchise of all time, but if I understand correctly, choosing Zelda results in no access to virtual console systems, no Paper Mario/TTYD, Pikmin, 3D Mario, Donkey Kong, Metroid...at the same time, I could never imagine gaming without Zelda. Super Mario 64 and OoT got me into video games. Ahhhhh decisions decisions

Discussion wise the month isn't bad at all , we are going to get a lot of FY statements from JP companies and even if most of us probably don't care about the numbers themselves they do announce new games/big news always during this period of time even if not at the same level as they do (or at least did) in June with E3. So at least we should get news to talk about

Master Baths - 30,000 FB
Game Room/Home Theatre - 10,000 FB
Lounge - 10,000 FB
All these games that come with these three alone make me more happy than what I already expect from Switch lol (even if only get one of the vaporwave titles)

Just bought a used copy of The Witcher 3 - Complete Edition for ~$30. I'm excited! Game should be a great experience on Switch and I haven't played it since the Blood and Wine launch on PC ~6 years ago. Always wanted to revisit and go for the other option (I made the mistake of picking Triss last time).

Maybe I didn’t make it clear. Each of the titles costs that amount. So can only get one master bath. I’ll edit to add each after the value amount.

I'm not at all upset that I've been working on an album I'm calling "West Wind" for the past year

Only for CRJ to announce her upcoming album, "Western Wind"

No, not at all upset
Play the algorithms properly and maybe you get some accident spins from people looking for the other album.

Time to start a donation drive to fund a lawyer to sue CRJ.

I like thread games but this one is completely unworkable lol

I guess I'll do the Splatoon 3 master bath and the Kirby and the Forgotten Land standard bath. Sorry Pikmin 4, but Kirby is one of my favorite games ever and I need my Splatoon fix

OP game is quite easy for me.

50,000 to spend.
I start with 30,000 on one of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet.
20,000 left to spend.

I then spend 5,000 four times on the Landscaping Service to ensure that all GB/GBC/GBA Pokemon games come to the service, and to make sure Worms 3D comes to the GameCube part of the service.

Nintendo should collaborate with Mistwalker again, SE has shown to not be reliable when it comes to JRPGs outside of DQ/Team Asano ones and other big JRPG publishers have issues lately with releasing games in a consistent way and BNS/Sega are skipping the Switch. Another Mistalkwer title but now releasing in a popular platform for JRPGs and not when a platform is dead could do numbers. They have also shown that they still got quality with Fantasian, imagine what they could do with Nintendo funding again.
(there is never enough JRPGs by Nintendo before someone says that 😠 )

@Raccoon how do I achieve the state of "based?"

I've been meaning to ask.
I wanna know the secrets
important to the explanation is the confession that I am not actually based

being based is being confident in your opinions, worldview, and actions. this is why I often describe people with fringe opinions as being based: confidence in an unpopular opinion is rare.

some people strictly use based to describe people who are confident in an opinion that they feel is correct, but I often consider people with whom I do not agree to be based.

God i hope we Get a Mario Movie Teaser in the next direct, i need to know how everyone sounds

Do you like xenoblade

Why is he called modern Sonic when he's over 20 years old? In anime years, he's a grizzled old veteran long past his adventuring years.

The time between when Sonic Adventure came out and now is about 3x the amount of time between Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic.

If you like modern Sonic you're definitely based.
I actually like movie Sonic better than modern Sonic and I dunno what that says about me 👀
unless we're talking about the crazy bendy early Yuji Uekawa style from Adventure 1 and 2, in which case that shit rocks but when I hear "modern Sonic" I generally think of the watered-down CGI renders that accompany the promo material nowadays

Actually, Dreamcast Sonic's VA said that in Sonic Generations they were planning on splitting things into three eras: Classic, Dreamcast (which would have also included Heroes), and Modern. But in the end they sorta lumped the Dreamcast era in with Modern (which I don't quite agree with) and we have the timeline spread we have now.

But taking that into account, by Sega's initial reckoning Modern Sonic actually began with 06, meaning he's only 16 years old, meaning in anime years instead of a grizzled old veteran, he's actually:

Damn, I didn't expect my my suggestion to actually make the ST8 title (although it got slightly changed). Thanks folks.
Maybe I gave incorrect attribution. It’s fun and I liked using my rudimentary power point skills to make the graphic.

Ohohoho, you made a Prime Real MISTAKE challenging me to a game of undesirable outcomes!

See, I could live with having to forgo some games — but having those series’ best disappear forever from my devices? Unacceptable! And even then, the two I want more than anything are Silksong and BotW2. So I’m gonna beat you at your own game.

1. I put ₽5,000 down on the garage for Silksong… and access to all non-listed indie games.

2. I fire up Baba Is You. Because, you know, BABA is you, right? So I use the level editor to create a legally-binding ruleset and shift it to say “Baba Is Wrong.” We resettle the terms of the Barely Able Building Associates contract in court. Because the contract had a typo. You were off by a zero. I get ₽500,000.

3. With my remaining ₽495,000, I get to work.

Kitchen (₽50,000) — I get BotW2 and access to all of the other Zeldorp games I have and enjoy.

Master Baths (₽90,000) — Snagging Splatoon 3, Pokémon Legends Arceus, and Pokémon Salt or Vinegar. I am willing to sacrifice my access to the Xenoblade series. I might be willing to drop Legends for mainline, but I don’t know enough yet to make that call.

Standard Baths (₽40,000) — Kirby + Dragon Quest III HD-2D (because I’m curious and I don’t want to lose access to DQ Builders!)

Though if I’m thinking about it really hard… I do thoroughly enjoy that Kirby exists, and had a good time with Lando Forgor… but would I sacrifice the Kirby series for the greater good? I like it a lot but in the desolate world of these circumstances, maybe I don’t need it. Except Air Ride. And it’s been so long now, maybe I can let the puffball go…

Game Room (₽30,000) — Curiosity compels me to go for Live A Live, Sonic Frontiers, and Klonoa… but something… something’s wrong… and those series would not be huge losses to me.

Home Gym (₽5,000) — I’ve been waiting for Switch Sports for so long, and I’m so glad it’s finally here…

Lounge (₽30,000) — Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart. (…)

Garage (₽10,000) — Adding OMORI and Sea of Stars to my Silksong order.

Landscaping (₽5,000) — I love all my old NSO games… and there are so many I haven’t gotten to play yet… I can’t lose access to all of them on all systems forever… right?

4. I have most of what I want at ₽265,000… but at what cost?

5. All alone on my plateau of greed, I begin to re-evaluate my priorities.

I drop Pokémon Legends (₽30,000) and choose to believe in the future of mainline. My hopes shall ride on Pokémon Sus & Veritas.

And I love Splatoon (₽30,000). I’m so excited for 3. And I want to play online with friends… I even now ostensibly have friends on the internet who play Nintendo games! But…

I say a tearful goodbye to Kirby (₽20,000) and a not-tearful “bing bong, fuck ya life” to Dragon Quest (₽20,000).

Live A Live, Klonoa, and Sonic have gotta go… fast (₽30,000).

As long as I have Ring Fit, I can let Switch Sports (₽5,000) go. Thanks for the memories.

I don’t… I don’t need a new Donkey Kong (₽10,000). I’m keeping NSO, but I think this means I lose the SNES Donkey Kong Country games, which were integral to me keeping it together during my childhood. I have the memories. Maybe that’s enough.

Here’s the hardest one… I either need to let go of Mario Kart or Metroid. Would I still be allowed to play Mario Kart at friends’ places? Because that’s the best way to play it. And do I lose access to all Metroid, or just Metroid Prime? I would keep Mario Kart for playing with friends, even though my partner and I still aren’t going to be able to have people over for years… but there are still other (less good) weird racing games. But no other game is like Metroid Prime. And I don’t want to give up all Metroid. One of these two (₽10,000) will go.

I’ll let OMORI (₽5,000) and Sea of Stars (₽5,000) go too — having both Silksong and every non-listed Indie game will carry me for a long long time.

6. There! Now for the low low price of ₽100,000, I get Zelda, Silksong, most Indie Games, Pokémon, a deflated NSO, and either Metroid OR Mario Kart depending on how hopeful I am about the future. Leaning pretty Metroid today, though.

Plus everything not mentioned, which appears to include mainline Mario!

Put another way… either ₽50,000 for Zelda or ₽50,000 for the non-Zelda path.

7. I establish the Suswave’s Money for Ur Renovations Fund (SMURF) with the remaining ₽400,000 — all users can apply for grants to renovate their dream homes in accordance with the BABA settlement terms!

now that’s what I call winning, shitposting, textwalling, and grinchhearting all in the same post!

is it really a new ST if I don’t overthink something in an impenetrable wall of text?

Postmodern Sonic rejects modern Sonic and deconstructs himself and questions whether maybe Robotnik’s narrative is just as true as his own
You know, at the end of Sonic The Moviehog 2 Robotnik did bust out the "there were good people on both sides" argument

i'm obsessed with xenoblade. there was this massive lake and it took me a full hour to fill it in on the map.
based

This month I have to do my best to get on top of my health so that my time in the US goes ahead as planned. And also finish some videogames.

All this talk of being based. Based on what?

I don't have too many "unpopular" or "controversial" game opinions, but I would like to aim for earnest, good faith belief in what I discuss. Is this truly what being based...is based on?
Just the RPG titles. No real news or even rumors of Mario mainline even though we know it’s coming at some point. Everyone gets a pass on those (except old things if you don’t pick the landscaping service). I’m sure there will be loopholes and gaps I didn’t consider, so take full advantage of those.
I may not be able to make a Suswave level loophole, but at least my Super Mario is safe and sound for now.
