StarTopic The Kit & Krysta Podcast |ST|

another great episode. i need to hurry up and play Kirby because I really want to consume some of the Kirby content on the 'net without getting spoiled.

That was a great episode, but I do wish they spoke more about the Skyward Sword demo. They said it was hectic backstage but it’s like their ultimate flagship franchise having a demo that sounds as totally botched on stage. Sounds like major chaos that would take the next week rehabilitating.

Obviously you can't judge the immediate reaction from fans of Nintendo's actions when comes to stuff like this; Raw emotions and all that, and we don't need to necessarily agree just because there is a reasonable business angle coming from those.. But at very least, I learned to not be surprised nor get stressed when these kind of stuff happens
The thing is people have a tendency to throw around words like lazy, stupid, incompetent, "I guess they don't want our money" (while also accusing them if being anti-consumer?) and the go to "They're behind the times" for Nintendo. While people who do want to understand or explain the inner workings or reasonings get dismissed as the Nintendo Defence Force and other such terms. You don't have to agree, but you should at least accept the reasoning. Great if you want all the eShops to stay open, but if someone explains to you that maintaining the servers becomes more expensive over time and just wouldn't be worth it, then at least base your criticisms around that, like wanting them to work out one infrastructure instead of starting a new one each gen, and not "greedy Nintendo", who doesn't want to spend the money to keep them running?

lmao, they really got a kick out of Digital Foundy's speculation over BoTW2 not be running on Switch in the last teaser;

yeah lol, just listened to the episode and they kinda dragged (rightfully imo) DF for that.

also had some interesting stuff to say about Cammie.

Yeah that was pretty funny tbh.
Think they are right though, and this whole “that can’t be running on switch” for every big major game is getting really old

yep. it's been going on since... like late 2019/early 2020. MH rise, mario rabbids 2, etc. any new game shown that's not an indie 2D platformer someone will start speculating about it running on an unreleased switch revision.

If anything I'd have to say this is just a testament to the development ability of Nintendo's internal teams

or any team, really. just look at launch year games for any platform, vs games in their last years. it's not really weird to think 6 years later a team can get more out of a hardware than they did when it launched.

True, although I think the fact that certain Switch developers continue to put out half baked efforts ensures that this myth that the Switch is basically a pumpkin with electrodes will persist

Considering that Breath of the Wild 1 was "held back" for needing parity with the Wii U hardware, it's not surprising at slightest that the sequel will be an improvement, made from scratch for the Switch.. let alone 5-6 years later;

love K&K's gameplay videos but after 3 mins of that Minecraft one, i realized not even they can get Minecraft to hold my attention

Where do they talk about it?

I‘m still not sure if they can pull this off in the long run. What do y‘all think?
I think they know what the boundaries are as PR people but with Nintendo you never know. I can‘t imagine that they are 100% happy with it.

They keep everything pretty respectful. They can be honest, but as they said before, they don't intent to spill random gossip. They keep everything related to the business side or creative side.

In the recent episode they also briefly talk about the alligations concerning the contract workers. They are not really spilling any internals, but still I was surprised they said anything and how much they actually said. Not that Nintendo can do much about it, but I'm sure they would react if Kit and Krista would even go only one little step to far.

True, but in their defense, it is already public. So it was not like they brought it up out of the blue. And second, contract worker issue has been brought up for years and years, so it's not a hidden secret. But they seem to keep the line pretty fair in how the state things instead of intern word diarrhea lol

If you mean the youtube channel itself, I have my doubts as well. They started off hot but I think most people just wanted a continuation of Nintendo Minute rather than a super long podcast. I don't think they're managing this very well either and views have really dropped off. Hopefully they can come up with some interesting ideas and rebound.

Have they ever acknowledged the rumors that they just hate each other? Listened to a few episodes and I wouldn't be surprised if they answered a question like that and I'd really want to hear them respond to it

they joke about it often. basically they say if they did they have no reason to start a podcast together.

Finally caught up to episode 12, couldn't stop laughing when I heard Reggie attended a black-tie event in jeans. At least there was an explanation for it later

Few people can pull off a sport coat and jeans like Reggie can.

Personally, I think they are pretty funny and have a good back and forth. And their industry stories are also quite fun, even something silly like team dinners.

But they do still the video "minute" like things. But for the main podcast, I feel they need to shorten by a little bit. They are quite long. They had an interview a week ago and that was cool, so would be great if they can snag some more. Bonus points if it is in person.

Hopefully they can get Reggie on, which they seemed pretty sure they could. An in-person interview with Reggie would reignite their channel a bit.

I'm really getting into it. I never got into Nintendo Minute because with their rather saccharine atmosphere, it felt very corporate, but now stripped of the corporate baggage, I have come to appreciate the wholesomeness of it all. So I appreciate when an episode drops with a bunch of content to play during a Happy Home Paradise session. I don't watch in one go though. I dip in and out as needed. But I'd be content for the format to continue.

Another week, another kit and Krysta clickbait title.

Unfortunately, as I learned myself through writing articles, clickbait sells and gets more attention than more neutral titles. :/
It's part of the reason I'm currently burnt out on writing.

We need to make ARMS 2 a thing. For Krysta.
You know.. we are always debating whether or not ARMS was a 'flop' (and generally people tend to agree it wasn't, for a new IP, a fighting game at that), but seeing Krysta's frustration on the reach for the game... coming from a former Nintendo employee, I can't help to think Nintendo interally had much higher expectations for the game and that's concerning...
