Putting aside all the Spidey hype, another great episode of Hawkeye from start to finish.
  • POV snap scene was unexpected and awesome.
  • Kate/Yelena convo.
  • I really like how they've been using the Vormir theme throughout the episodes.
  • No end credits scene but:
  • Kingpin is here!
This show may surpass Loki for me, all they need to do is stick the landing on the finale.

I might be the odd one out, (I don't follow MCU fan discourse much), but Loki is my least favorite show so far. I still enjoyed it, but it didn't reach the highs of the other series for me, and Loki didn't really feel like Loki.

I didn't expect to like Loki's series (I don't stan him like a lot of people seem to, I kinda don't get the obsession), but the series surprised me with everything other than him. I love time travel shenanigans and alternate timeline ridiculousness, plus the gutsy and insane plot twist of Loki literally falling in love with himself really made that show work for me.

Still didn't love it like I loved WandaVision though.

Jeez the Hawkeye really is surprising.

Honestly together with Shang-Chi Yelena is one of the better things in regards to the MCU. She steals every scene, as she did in the Black Widow movie.

I really like the “so what happened after the snap” story lines in the Marvel tv shows. Sam talked about it briefly in the TF&tWS, we had the heartbreaking Monica stuff in WandaVision and now Yelena returning in Hawkeye. Adds a personal touch.

Oh yeah brass knuckles.

And aaaaaahhhh it’s Kingpin. Loved the ending with Kingpin’s cut out in the Hawkeye logo.

Bring back a new Daredevil series Disney!

  • Reprising the sad music from Endgame for Clint talking to Nat was a great touch, geez 💔
  • hehe broboxing
  • At this point if "the big guy" is anyone other than D'Onofrio I will be livid.
  • Echo is so rad yall
  • WHITE SUIT WHITE SUIT OMG

I think Spider Man hits this week so I might not be back for a while, but Hawkeye has been a lot of fun and I’m sad it wraps up next week. Kate will obviously return in future shows, but I hope this isn’t the last we see of Clint because like Wandavision did for its main characters (messy ending aside), I’m finally invested in him. No idea how its going to wrap up, the plot feels both too small and too big right now, but I’m excited to see it!

Soooooooooo going forward are we gonna have movies/series that are basically The Adventures of Yelena & Kate? In keeping with the "Black Window and Hawkeye are partners" dynamic? Because if so I wanna buy tickets like now.

People should check out Pugh’s other stuff if they haven’t already. Her performance in Lady Macbeth was mesmerizing.

Saw Spider-Man yesterday.

If you're into these movies / superhero movies generally, you're not ready for this movie.
I'm luckily so hyped for The M4trix that my Spider-hype is kinda taking a backseat. I'm probably gonna casually saunter into a weekend matinee of No Way Home like it's any other Marvel movie and then have to spend a half hour afterwards scouring the theater for my socks.

Due to Covid regulations theaters are closed at 17:00, so I’m having trouble to get to a screening. (This weekend I don’t have the time sadly)

Sucks

Just got back from Spider-Man and holy shit I love Spider-Man so fucking much.

First MCU movie in a long time that doesn’t feel toothless.

aside from all of the heavily speculated and at this point leaked aspects of this movie and it’s characters, where Spider-Man ends up here is exactly where I wanted him to be. I’m legitimately excited for new Spidey movies and it FINALLY feels like we are distancing ourselves from Tony Stark.

I squealed at Tobey McGuire coming back but holy shit the way they revealed Andrew Garfield coming back was immaculate. The three of them on the school talking about their individual losses was some of the most powerful MCU stuff there has been.

Doctor Strange 2 looks sick.

Fucking Willem Dafoe man. Green Goblin is one of the best, if not the best, MCU villain after this. He's that good.

Alright yall, I'm going in for a matinee of Spidey. Wish my brain luck.

Out of the Spidey matinee. I expected it to hurt my brain. Instead it hurt my heart.

You know, for a franchise that's supposed to be family-friendly, the MCU had some pretty dark shit go down this year.
  • Wanda mind-controlling and torturing an entire town
  • The backstory of WandaVision (Wanda's traumatic childhood and mental breakdown after losing Vision)
  • John Walker using Captain America's shield to kill an unarmed fugitive in a very brutal way
  • Doctor Strange losing Christine and becoming evil to bring her back, only for the universe to end due to his actions, leaving him all alone
  • Ultron killing the Avengers and nearly everyone in the entire universe
  • Hank Pym going after the Avengers Initiative to get revenge for his daughters death, becoming a serial killer in the process
  • Spider-Man loses everything to save the universe, including his Aunt dying because of his actions and everybody forgetting who he is
Like, damn.

Hell of a year for the MCU to start going dark, huh?

Spider-Man was fantastic. Easily the best of the 3 MCU Spidey films. I loved the end credit scene, but it was expected and not too surprising.

Also, heard a spoiler for Hawkeye, which actually got me interested in watching it now.

TOM HOLLAND FINALLY COMING INTO HIS OWN
CLASSIC SUIT, DITCH THE MCU BAGGAGE, VENOM UP NEXT, NO STRINGS ATTACHED

OH ALSO TOBEY, GARFIELD, ALL THE RETURNING ACTORS AND ALL THE FANSERVICE

Real talk though, in a vacuum it's definitely just a weaker Spiderverse, but those years of memes and nostalgia buildup... Man, what a trip

The MCU started with a vehicle in the middle east getting hit with an IED.

Did you see the deleted scenes for Iron Man? That scene as filmed was originally a lot longer, featured a lot more return fire (Rhodey on a tank-mounted machine gun IIRC), and had Downey dropping F-bombs while stumbling around. They tried to start hard.

Yup. Spoilers hitting Youtube too.

I have to wait till the 14th of January at the earliest for restrictions being lifted. It´s a damn shame, but I understand why our government made the choice. Still, I feel I won´t be able to dodge spoilers for that long :cautious:

I’m going today. Partially cause of everything going on but also because a snow/rain storm system hits Tuesday and won’t be stopping till January

To be fair, even the the comic version of What If would also frequently devolve into incredibly dark scenarios like this. To the point they made a separate branch just for goofy scenarios.

There's an official upload by digital video service VUDU, of all places. (Complete with verification checkmark!)

Somehow the question of who would say "fuck" in the MCU had already been solved at the very beginning. (1:31)

Spidey was a blast, perfect celebration of live action Spidey to this point while clean slating for the future

My short spoiler-free review is that I liked NWH a lot, despite its messiness and overreliance on non-MCU Spidey to tell its story. The best part was that the movie let its dramatic moments breathe and give the audience time to take them in. The entire ending sequence is really good. I also appreciated that even though it heavily featured the multiverse it didn't feel like a retread of Into the Spider-Verse but like its own thing with its own themes and stakes. Not everything in this movie lands but the stuff that does mostly makes up for its stumbles. It takes a bit to get fully going but once it does it's just a joy.

Perhaps the worst aspect of the movie is its visual blandness at times. There's cool stuff in there, no doubt, but after Spider-Verse it's become increasingly difficult for me to watch these large setpieces without not feeling that they would just look and work better in a fully animated feature. I will never understand the logic of using the most grey and brown backdrops they can find so I assume it must be something technical. Which is a shame because there's some really good ideas in there that ultimately fall a little bit flat. The train sequence you see in the trailers looks cool but it mainly uses the visual language from the Doctor Strange film. One of my favourite parts of Far From Home was the entire Mysterio sequence which looked cool as hell. NWH sadly lacks that. I'm assuming that they will continue making Spidey movies in the MCU and that whoever takes over from Watts can bring more visual flair to it.

My favorite visual part of NWH was the simple shot in the trailer where Spidey was swinging out of town:

So much of the rest of the movie is close-ups or medium shots, even during the action, so this shot that sorta let's the motion breathe in the frame was really nice. And if that's my favorite shot in an action movie, then yeah. I think I agree with you a bit about the visuals. 😅

This is why animation needs to survive and thrive as a diverse medium rather than everything diluting into another Illumination feature.
I'm still mad that the new DragonBall movie is videogame-style 3D CGI after the incredible hand-drawn Broly but that's a whole other thread 😅

That moment when you realize Spider-Man is technically a cinematic universe within a cinematic universe (11 movies counting Venom, Venom 2, and Morbius, an upcoming TV series, plus three cameos in other movies. There's also Into the Spider-Verse, but ironically that isn't connected to the main Spider-Verse yet). Sony already accomplished what they set out to do. Now cancel those weird Kraven, Rhino, and Madame Web movies please.

This might get me some eye rolls, but I'm starting to think that the whole Uncle Ben storyline doesn't exist in the MCU, and that's perfectly okay with me. Aunt May is clearly meant to be the MCU version of that storyline, even getting to say the iconic line. I'm guessing Ben died due to a tragic accident or a disease and not because of Peter. Might have happened when Peter was young. If Ben was actually important, MCU Peter would have said something when talking to the other Peter's about loss.

Lastly, there's absolutely no chance MJ and Ned don't return at the end of the next trilogy or however many movies they decide to do. That's an easy slam dunk storyline for a final movie. And that's freaking MJ, come on. She won't be gone forever.

First time posting on this side of the forum, but something just hit me a while back... I was wondering about the marketing budget for NWH. I didn’t see much about it. For me, it seems that Marvel let Youtubers and conspiracy theories did their job on that part.

QUESTION:

Do we think the final episode of Hawkeye this week will have more mac and cheese in it? Because that's seriously one of my all-time favorites.

Really loved No Way Home, I've been burnt out on MCU and purposefully skipped all of the TV shows, all of the movies this year, but NWH is worth seeing. Excited to see how Peter grows from here. Will mostly likely see Dr Stranges movie too, mostly because Sam Raimi.

Hawkeye episode 6.

The finale wasn't perfect but it was enough for me. I really enjoyed this pure street side of the mcu.
  • Good moments like: "You are my partner, your mess is my mess.
  • Kate and Yelena scene was perfect.
  • Fisk was very cool I guess?
  • Clint and Yelena closure was Ok, Loved the whistle.
  • Jack The Swordman!
Kate and Lucky going to Clint's house for christmas was the best possible ending for this, glad it went that way.

I cannot wait to see more of Kate Bishop in the future.

so Kingpin is still alive right? if that was it for him then I'm dissapointed.

Fisk is alive, that moment is straight out of the comics. He becomes blind after getting shot in a very similar manner, as a foil to Daredevil.

It’s a direct comic reference so
yes. Plus all the deaths in this show showed bodies on screen, such as Kazi. So this is likely a direct setup for Echo. Would be surprised if we didn’t see him and Murdock there

  • OMG GIMME ADVENTURES OF KATE AND YELENA SHOW RIGHT NOW PLZKTHX

  • omg the spinny shrapnel arrows look like they'd HURT
  • Wait WHAT? They brought D'Onofrio's Fisk back just to kill him off after one episode? Or is it gonna be one of those bullshit things where we heard the gunshot but didn't see it land so maaayyybe he's still alive? 😩
  • AAAAAAAHH THE WHOLE MUSICAL NUMBER? THEYRE GIVING IT TO US?? 🤣
  • god it's so cringey
  • Welp, no mac and cheese this episode, so that's disappointing for me
